Since we don't need to refuel our cars...

I always thought that's what we paid a mechanic for....fuel and repairs...

How many times does anybody burn a whole tank of gas? Nobody drives one car that long / far

Same could be said about our characters. How can they still be alive after 2.5 years with no ability to drink water?

2.5 years? I'm sure you're aware time goes by much much faster in game. Not sure how you'll take the news about Mike, Trevor & Franklin though :/

it won't be in 6 either so don't get your hopes up, not unless they allow mods online. Not sure why people think it would be boring or too realistic to need fuel, it's just one more thing to think about and could add some funny ass moments when you're in a chase and have to worry about your fuel level & fuel leaks. Actually, if it was a thing at release by now R* would have added an option in the interaction menu to refuel easily so it would be useless anyways.

They're catering to the lowest common denominator, that's what I assume most people mean when their reason for not wanting more realism is "it's GTA". Yea it's a somewhat realistic game with somewhat realistic physics based on a real location... Turned into a damn kids game that caters mostly to military shooter fans or whatever kind of people play video games to bounce uber expensive sh*tty cars ...and minivans lol

Not that the gas deal pisses me off, just the attitude that "it's GTA" so why add realism... Then where's my F'ing jet pack? I know I left it in that base somewhere! And why buy ammo when we can just fire self-generating laser bubbles out of our customizable shlongs?... It's GTA right? :p

...Not a good argument. Taking things to extremes to make a point just means you lose the bigger picture entirely. GTA has always been basically the same kind of game. It's detailed and realistic enough to feel like a parody of our world and to make you stop and say, "Oh cool, I can get a soda from the machine and drink it!" But it's unrealistic anytime that realism would interfere with having fun - which is, after all, the main reason 99% of us play it. Strangely, the game in the series that nodded most to realism was also in other respects completely unrealistic: San Andreas let you own a jet pack and park a Hydra on the roof of your house, but it also made you go and eat fast food every so often. And having got 100% on that game twice, let me tell you, that food thing got annoying after a while. Not many who played the game back then miss that feature. Having the OPTION to go into Cluckin' Bell and get a meal just for laughs, sure, but I definitely don't want to HAVE to do that.

Same with fuel for cars. It sounds dull. It sounds like something that will seldom come up, too, except when it does it will strand me in the middle of nowhere. No thank you. And as others have mentioned, how often does a GTA ride survive long enough that you'd need more gas anyway? Damn things are like toilet paper with how we treat them.

Finally, I find this "lowest common denominator" argument absurd. Anyone who has played previous games in the series should already know what the game is. It's not hardcore, it's not for a niche audience of tryhards. It's a pick-up-and-play goof-off game, and always has been. And the one time they got more serious, and the driving physics were changed to be less forgiving, a large part of their fan base rebelled - rightly so, IMO. GTA is what it is. They could have added this feature to 3, Vice City, San Andreas, IV and V - and never did. Why? Because it's boring and annoying.

Well if we're going by what's realistic, my helicopters should be able to blast people from around this far off:

That really wouldn't be fair would it? Sometimes realism needs to take a back seat.

Same could be said about our characters. How can they still be alive after 2.5 years with no ability to drink water?

Whiskey, wine, beer, eCola, and green juice.

They probably don't have any teeth because f*cking rockstar didn't add the ability to brush our teeth.

Rockstar didn't add the ability for our characters to take a sh*t either. After 2 and a half years, our characters are going to be pretty uncomfortable.

I like how you guys have to blow things out of proportion everytime a thread about fuel feature comes up.

R* should turn it on their next game just to f*ck with you all XD.

The tears would be delicious!

I personally like more realism when a game is based off reality, whether it be serious or satirical. With that said, I do understand why not all players would like more realism to the point of needing to eat, drink or refuel, I just wish we had more options when hosting I guess.

Since it is a casual game (not competitive) I don't see the point of restricting our gameplay to one set of rules / options, as the host of a lobby we should have some hosting options to play it our way, whether that be with more realistic options or less realistic ones I just don't see the point of making us play R*s way.

I never found it boring or annoying to eat or workout in SA, it wasn't a burden or anything, it just would have added to the variety of character types if that was in GTAO, in a easily customizable and emmersive way... But I understand why some players would find it annoying, thus why it should be only an option, not a requirement, like free aim vs auto aim it would be just a preference that we could enable or disable. Personally if I had the choice I'd be as fat as possible regardless of the impact it would have on my ability to run or scale a fence, because as you say it's a casual game, so the laughs I would get from watching my fat ass character ragdoll would be worth the disadvantages IMO, same goes for the times I would choose to refuel Zoolander-style even if it meant dying a fiery death.

it's not like I take GTA that seriously, I just think the the more plausible choices we have to use the island & items the more chances for fun we could possibly have. The key word is choices / options, I would never want to impose my preferences on every lobby, just mine.

I was once on board with this idea but having seen the PC mods of it, I'm no longer a fan.

It definitely looks like something that would get annoying with time. Yes, I know that one random mod isn't equivalent to what Rockstar would do with it. But just the idea of always keeping it mind, then it being a crutch if you're low is a problem I don't need. Pass.

It was actually meant to be in V, but some fans started to complain so much, they removed it. ...or so I heard from somewhere.

Thats also reason why the fuel "hole" is removed from cars in V, probably.

I like the idea of having refuel thing. No problem for me. I dont see why it would bother someone.

At least they should make cutscenes where you can see your character refueling his car in the station.

Like when you choose characters it starts from the gas station and you see him/her just finishing the fueling and putting the fuel pistol away.

And everytime you start you have full fuel level.

They just should make it empty very slow. That way no one wouldnt complain about the thing.

It would make the cop chases more interesting if there was fear of fuell couing down. And also it would give a little bit survival feeling to the game.

Actually, in one of the Franklin mission cutscenes in singleplayer, you can see refueling happen, If I remember correctly.

I would also like if there was somekind of small minigame when you stole car, where you have to connect the wires to start the car.

That fuel leak thing is also in old consoles in ps3 single player.

If you shoot in certain parts of the cars rear/bottom to where fuel tank is, it starts to leak fuel and then it gets empty after you drive.

it would be different if R* do it...

adding such thing to the game right now would simply ruin the thing because for the past 2+years we have been able to drive endlessly without refueling.

if R* make it into the next gta, it may be an annoyance at first for those of us moving from th current gtao to a gtao with fuel usage, but once you get used if would be a normal thing.

it would add a nice touch of realism to the game, which is never a bad thing.

OK make a real thing out of the fuel level in the cars, leading people to refuel from time to time. But let the players have their cars refueled by calling the mechanic when the tank of the car is empty.

Where does this keep coming from? No fuel is how it is/should be, otherwise the game is pointless.

We SHOILD have to fuel up our cars. That way owning a Voltic or Surge would be worth it. Also, Aseas use the cheapest gas while Zentornos use the most expensive. So $1000-10000 per fill up. Hey! More cash card sales. :)

I can the appeal of needing to refuel but in reality it'd most likely be a pain in the ass, much like in real life.

As a compromise how about you can refuel at garages but it's just for fun and you don't actually have to. You could fill up your Jerry can at the same time.
