GTA IV back story

Me and my friends have been creating a movie that provides a story around GTA IV multiplayer which gives links and connections into Niko's tail.

 

OK, so I know there is a video thread, but I would really like some feedback on the story from fans of IV, and that's not a great place to get it. I should warn you that it's 44 minutes long and maybe people would not want to commit that much time - but I hope if you do, you'll think it's worth it, as a huge amount of effort from multiple people has gone into this.

 

The video centers around the multiplayer mode Cops 'n Crooks, providing a story for why a powerful crime Boss is attempting to leave Liberty City, whilst the cops have been given orders to shoot him on site rather than arrest him. As with the rest of multiplayer, it is set shortly before Niko arrives in Liberty City. It has been designed to be consistent and interlock with IV's story. Fans should be able to notice some subtle cross overs that help fill in some gaps in the plot - things that were discussed, but never fully explained. The conclusion will ultimately explain how the Boss decision to leave the city results in a power vacuum for organised crime in Liberty City, why things are the way they are when Niko arrives.

 

Shooting this was a huge technical challenge which wouldn't have been possible without sjaak's trainer, various modding tools, and advice from forum members here, who I have mentioned in the end credits.

 

If you have time to watch I would really appreciate your feedback. My biggest concern is that 2:40 to 5:30 is maybe a bit slow for people to get into, but after that I am reasonably happy with the pacing. Also none of us are professional voice actors - it's all been done by players of the game - although I think some of the guys did a top job,

*Applause * wow this was reeeally enjoyable! I like how you used the split screen on occasions, made it feel like an old school action movie, the gta IV pause menu music really felt well placed in certain scenes, I liked the other sound effects that had been used in other gtas, the cameo appearance of Roman and Brucie leaving the strip club, man, Jimbatron, there was too many things to like about this. The Boss voice, man what an antagonist. Scary voice, kind of like Gruber from Die Hard.

Can't wait for the next movie.

Thanks man really glad you liked it. BassT who voiced the Boss is a bit of a legend - also happens to be top of the leaderboard of Cops 'n Crooks on the PC. I hope Episode 3 is a fitting finish, I intend it to tie in to a greater extent with what's going on on Liberty City just before Niko arrives.

Thanks will keep in mind. The major roles were all cast and voices recorded a while ago, but I am toying with introducing some new characters, will let you know. The big challenge is actually getting the character actors together for the final scene. Most of the guys who have helped are still about, but not around as often in the game anymore.
