DAMND
Hi all,I've noticed that in GTA V, when I place certain props/ydr objects on the map, their color properties change somewhat dramatically.Example:Here's a the prop sm_boat_clutter_2 in it's original place, the top of the single player yacht: and here it is when placed on a different yacht Notice how despite their seeming to be less light in the first pic, the food props are brighter and more natural looking? They look like objects with color but placed in the shade. The out of place versions (which are the same ydr models) look almost blackened. But when I shine light directly on them, they return to having their full color. Another example: Here's the motel room interior: And here's the motel room recreated in another location, by spawning all the ydr objects that comprise that interior, plus the same props that were in the motel room. Again, the props are so bright that they're eye-catchingly out of place, despite the fact that I haven't successfully replicated all the light sources in the room yet. I'm not a 3d modeler, so this is all new to me. I just use trainers to make maps. One person volunteered that the terms "latent luminosity" or "specularity" might apply here. I've found no mention of the former in connection to GTA V and all mentions I find of the latter tend to do with reflections. I'm not trying to edit these models in an external program (which is not possible yet anyway). I'm just trying to place them in a way that they look natural. Is there any way to adjust the "brightness" of these individual objects, or how much they react to light?
TheAdmiester
I have a feeling that some kind of timecycle mods are being applied when you're in certain areas that make hte lighting work in one place that wouldn't translate to another. One example of a timecycle mod would be Michael's ability turning the screen bluer and more exposed. You might want to check the timecycle_mods files in common\data\timecycle and see if any of the names correspond to the yacht or motel room. DAMND
Thanks, I'll check that out. Someone else suggested that this was affected by whatever the gta v equivalent of gta iv's "mlo" which he described as modified lighting for interiors I've searched and found someone's c/p of a gameconfig.xml which has a value for number of mlo's but I wonder if there is any way to change that kind of lighting within the game? TheFriedturkey
It could be to do with the properties of the prop, try replacing a prop that is different with the prop that you are having the lighting issue with. (Just change the name of the .ydr file)
