GTA_stu
A lot of people on reddit are quite convinced it's World War 1. They reckon the teaser is a soldier in a trench seeing a tank for the first time as it rolls by him. I've heard that mentioned too. I don't think WW1 really makes sense for BF though, or any modern day FPS. The gameplay would be too slow, the guns, the vehicles, it would all be too cumbersome and outdated. It would be boring, after the initial novelty. It'd be fun at first because it would be so different and new, but long term it doesn't offer enough. Those red lights look like car lights to me, or some sort of vehicle, which doesn't rule out WW1 but it does make it much less likely. BTFO! Tbh I still have reservations, but I'm just glad it's not set in the bloody future. There's a lot of fairly unique aspects of WW1 that'll be pretty fun I'm sure. Like gas and artillery and horses and Zeppelins and stuff. I wonder what side we'll be in the campaign? Daz
Well f*ck me, it wasn't bullsh*t. This will definitely be interesting. By the looks of the artwork it will just be WW1 setting but not set during or at least focusing on those battles. Which is about the only way to make this game. They really will have to be careful with the plot they create because the whole concept and strategy of warfare would be completely different to how battlefield games play. In a way it would be nice if it were set a few years after the war. That way they could secure some better weapons and gear and make more sense of the new combat style. I am not a fan of the title. Just because I don't want the next one to be called Battlefield 2, because that already exists and was the best battlefield. I hope they don't tart this one up too much, I don't want fake unrealistic red dot sights, scopes and silencers on all my guns like world at war did. Hopefully more jury rigged or unique attachments for weapons. More bayonets and slings for better stability when shooting prone etc. And for once I actually hope this does have a campaign. And It needs to be at least 2 player co-op. Even if it is just singleplayer scenario maps. Hopefully that Zeppelin is some form of Titan mode. Would be interesting to try and grab dangling ropes and tie them down, then climb up the ropes, or bail out of planes and land on it or some sh*t. Maybe some Rush style mode where you will be auto cut down by machine guns unless you destroy them and then you can assault. For once I am actually excited about a game again, I practically never get excited for anything anymore, everything is always so sh*t, though let's face it, if they can f*ck up Battlefront they can f*ck this up. So Let's hope it doesn't turn out like a pile of sh*te. Because they could easily go super lame with it. Let's also hope the netcode ain't f*cked and it plays more like battlefield 4 than it does hardline. And I really hope it isn't a f*cking casual piece of sh*t like battlefront was where no skill was required. Now all we got to do is hope to f*cking christ they don't make it sh*t and we can finally get back to Vietnam ffs. Jabalous
Speaking as someone who didn't play an FPS, or a war game in general, for over 6 years, I have to say that I am intrigued by the trailer and what I have read so far about this game. I am all for any original work and I admire developers who risk working on untapped areas in the AAA games industry. I will keep my eyes on this game. Think about "DLCs", if the current game is centered around WW1 then they could introduce WW2 with DLCs. ryuclan and Wastelander (Suzuki)

Dottie
Finally a game without christmas tree tacticool assault rifles with 18 mile tall extended mags, 14 attached optics on a mountain of picantinny rails, and strobe light lasers of uselessness. I am definitely getting this game and Im looking forward to what type of weapons are going to be there (especially considering WW1 is the first major use of mag fed MG's and SMGs). Richard Power Colt
It's a dumb name though.Should have called Battlefield 1914...I guess it's referring to the 1 in WW1, but I'm not sure if I like it either since it's probably gonna cause some confusion. But anyway I do like the setting. Not a lot of games or even movies set in that era. Edited May 7, 2016 by Nutsack McQueen

I think the game will be verry similiar to Bad Company 2 original and Vietnam dlc. since the maps will be sett in villages and the country side. Hopefully that's the case. GTA-Biker
I love the WW1 setting. It's much more interesting than made up modern wars or speculative future wars,it's not as overused as WW2 (at least around 10-15 years ago,WW2 setting is quite rare nowadays,so I would actually like a few newer games set in WW2) or modern/future setting, and it had some cool stuff that could work in a good FPS game, like tanks, planes, bomber blimps, battleships, submarines, pistols, revolvers, bolt action rifles, MGs, Russians also used lever action Winchester M1895 and automatic rifle Fedorov Avtomat, Germans used MP18 SMG, Americans used Browning Automatic Rifle... PoeticWhisper
Conquest and Rush actually lend themselves well to trenches and fortifications providing they don't cock up the map layout. I can see myself potentially liking Rush in this game. Not really ever been a big fan of it, I have generally played Conquest only throughout my years on the Battlefield, but Rush COULD be very interesting in trenches. If there is enough lines of them, it could be as simple as, the defenders have say, 3 defensive lines, each of the lines is 1 trench, with 2 M-COMS on either side of a long trench. Attackers spawn on a trench on the other side of no mans land, and have to charge through into the enemy trench to arm the M-COMS. It would be not only intense but would be very fun. If the destruction is as good as they're saying it'll be, then we could use some charges to make some foxholes in the middle of no mans land to dodge some enemy fire. Or perhaps Mortars from the defending team can do it for us, none-the-less. It seems like it could be very fun. J-B
ClaudeSpeed1911
I would love if they brought back the sound that played when a house fell from BC2. Each time that played was awesome everyone in the building would be running out or jumping through the window. What I would do to have that kind of Battlefield back. PoeticWhisper
It's so weird to be that I'm not the least bit skeptical about this game. Like usually I reserve my judgments until I get eyes on a games gameplay, but DICE legit won me over hardcore yesterday. I've been doing nothing but learning about WWI, watching trailer breakdowns, I am feening for more. Any source of new information I can get I am dying to hear. BF4 wasn't anything amazing to me, but I cannot argue how good the gameplay is at this point in time, and gameplay was never really the reason I didn't enjoy it as much as I could've. That had to do with all the annoyances, like gadgets/iffy map design ect. I think with a game in this setting, with all the possiblity to do something so new and unique there is no way this can be bad, there isn't. Cause map design is obviously vital, but majority of them will be a lot of open area just because of where things are set, and the weapons are gonna be bare minimum. No fancy IRNV scopes, supressors, MAV's, lock on weapons. It's gonna be more about skill, and that's what I'm most excited about. Of course, along with running through a trench with a gas mask on in a cloud of mustard gas, trench gunning a motherf*cker then clubbing his friend in the back of the head, only to get burned alive by a person with a flame thrower. The difference in style is gonna be the biggest difference for me. BTW, for those who don't know, the classes have been changed up. Assault - SMG's, anti-vehicle stuff Medic - Rifles & Medic Stuff Support - LMG's and I can only assume ammo Scout - Sniper Rifles obviously. Also, looks like Bi-planes are gonna be 2 seaters and the person in the back is on a mounted machine gun. There is also apparently "vehicle classes" which people speculate is a class when you choose to spawn into a vehicle. So if you're a pilot, you're roll now is a pilot. You have a repair device(not sure what they're gonna use, I assume maybe a wrench like BF 1943) and maybe a sidearm cause you're not really supposed to be infantry of you're a pilot. And Tank players the same. My biggest problem with this is how it's gonna work if you see a tank on the battlefield and you run up to it to get in. Do you automatically become a tank player and lose your weapons? Cause that would be pretty dumb. Of course, unconfirmed but interesting nonetheless. Thats all What used to be Engineer is now Assault (same type of equipment) What used to be Assault is now Medic (also same type of equipment). Older BF titles also used Medic as the class title (Like BFBC2) Support is still support.
