I've always been one for online play. I also freaked out when I heard about the concept of "not losing a car forever whenever it exploded."

It was to see what they had done with the online part of the game. With all the information they released pre release and the hype train on this forum I was interested in creating my own character, owning cars and the PVE stuff. Been at it (off and on) since day 1 on the 360 (now PC). A massive improvement in many ways from the IV days.

It was part of GTA V.

Took the words right out of my mouth; that being said it has become a surprise favorite of mine. Arguably, one of the best (if not the best) online game to ever hit a console.

We Are Ninja

The prospect of going from rags to riches. Literally starting with the clothes on your back and a gun, and clawing your way to the top. Learning to pvp. Git'n gud, so to speak. Earning luxury penthouses and garages full of cars, job by job, bounty by bounty. Fending for myself with a pistol and the first car I stole is easily one of the best experiences of my gaming life. It's something that newbs and people with modded accounts will never really get to experience.

My friends took me through some heists when I first joined so I hardly had to scrape out a living at the beginning.

Even legitimate players may not get this experience. Still I do remember getting killed by armored insurgents a lot in the beginning.

Why, for the good natured fun loving attitude of the community of course!

Huzzah!!

This answer seems familiar....

Why I played GTA:O in the first place? Because I knew if I started playing day one I could get some kills in before people started understanding how to play.

DarkSavageDeathlyCloud

fun true story.

i originaly bought a ps3 copy as a present for my then boyfriend pretty much a week after the game came out.

i myself....honestly didnt give a f*ck about gta.....didnt know it and it didnt sound a bad game to me.

i was like: fictive cars and no realistic weapons....why do people even buy this crap wtf ?

but in the end, because of some family isues, that relation being a secret back then and him living 5 houres away in a neighbouring country i coudnt get there for a period.

so the guy got somewhat anoyed, told me he didnt care for the game anymore and thus i started playing myself.

i finished the biggest part of the story mode in a week and messed around with it a month, totaly loving it :D

after that i kinda gave it a break, and then i started playing online a bit till i got my sniper, messed around with it finding the ranking up to slow to be enjoyable...gave it again a break because i found it overall a sh*tty experience, forgot it a while, did my research on how the game works somewhat more and started fully playing it in januari 2014....have been mainly playing that game since then.

i never thought i coud love such a broken unbalanced piece of sh*t, but....yea...i kinda do :D

I started playing the series since GTA 3.

GTA 4 introduced me to multiplayer Deathmatches and I became a super predator (in my own mind) and when GTA Online was announced...the only thing I cared about was the Deathmatches.

Deathmatches brought me to GTA Online and is why since 2013, I don't find the game boring yet.

If the matchmaking, DM filter was more sophisticated, and we weren't punished for being good at killing, i would have fun 1,000% of the time.

But even with my DM tattoo achievements completed, the copy cat maps, invisible body dudes, lag, terrible teammates, and R* abandoning the DM community...I still look forward to logging in to get my headshots in.

I loved dms early in the game but cant stand what they've become with all the rpgs and miniguns, how do you deal with that??

I'm lucky that I don't get in a lot of DMs with players like that.

And when I encounter them, I give them a taste of their own medicine.

Honestly I rather go up against those guys than the kid that hikes away from the map and snipes away while everyone else is on the ground actually putting their @sses on the line.

Sure you can go 10-0 but I have more respect for my teammate that went 20-12 and died by my side.

I'm a rank 300+ and its very rare to see me pull out a mini-gun. Unless I have to give someone a taste of their own medicine. Also try and get the lead on the scoreboard and that way Mr. Mini-gun has to come to you and some strategic sticky bombs will help you out.

If it's on pickups....do what you need to do to go get that mini on the map first!

Well I'll probably get back into them if you say you don't run into many minigunners etc.

I joined just to check it out. The trailer and everything made it seem pretty cool and like an awesome environment (even though I really disliked only multiplayer at the time), I made my character in October 2013 but ignored online and got really active around February/March 2014, once I got the hang of it and found a good crew I was hooked.

You should.

The last time I entered a DM with a crew of RPG spammers, I just quit out of it.

No fun walking 20 feet and being blown up time after time.

I get the L for quitting, but I'm not worried. I'd have to lose 500 DMs in a row to get back to .500, so I'll sacrifice a win to find more tactical players.

The prospect of using a jet to cause disruption whenever I want to was too tempting.

It seemed a good idea at the time , now instead of playing the game ,the game is playing me .

A combination of my joystick breaking, thus preventing me from playing the Descent II (Rebirth) custom maps that have sustained me since 199x, and my housemate handing me the controller to her Xbox 360 with GTA in the drive. The open world sucked me in, impressed me with sunsets, and provided me with 80s nostalgia in the form of a Ruiner.

I was pretty late to the game, a little over a year ago i bought it, because i was getting bored of playing FIFA. When i bought the game i actually didn't know they had a online version, so i was blesently suprised, That excitment lasted for 8-9 months and now i'm in a spot where i dont even turn on my PS4 ... online has got nothing at the moment.

So in a nutshell, i joined the online game because i didn't know anything about it at all, and was interested.

My brother had just gotten an Xbox 360 and for some reason GTAV captured my full attention (I've never been a video game person, I never grew up on them sadly) so I got it and played the f*ck outta story mode. Eventually my friends coaxed me into trying online with them which I hated at first. But now I think they regret showing it to me because I'm more interested in it than they are haha.

Multiplayer.

Here's a fun fact.

If GTAO was released with single player. I would not be here.

Unlucky. Blame R*.

Nah nah nah Gta 6

I never really had any multiplayer games as big as GTA Online, I did want to complete the story first before going online.

Because I always give MP a chance on games I play and GTAO was incredibly hyped up back then. I loved it and never stopped unlike IV, which i had to as hackers/modders were assholes and freeze your console.

I then upgraded for the sole purpose of getting away from modders and being blown up every few seconds.... but that sh*t can still happen unless they nerf the jet

Reasons why I began playing GTAO in the first place

1. Lack of proper motivational skills developed at an early age to focus my efforts on productivity and success instead of wasteful pastimes.
2. My older sister used to pick on me a lot when I was a kid, until one day I bopped her in the nose for calling me a turd. She never bothered me again.
3. In sixth grade, my English teacher, Miss Roberto, called me a "chemical nuisance." I suspect she was on to something.
4. DVDs are not interactive.
5. Because when the kids finally went off to sleep, I needed to exact the seething energy inside me into something innocuous.
6. Someone had to keep people in check online.
7. I wasn't qualified to be a waste management collections agent.

8. Apparently, to some, I eat too loud.
9. My real-life house, car, bike, and garage are nice, but not THAT nice.
10. Because having played since GTA2 came out, and all iterations since (except Chinatown), this is, by far, the most glorious GTA ever.

Cheers! :)
