I can see that some people felt they were bashed in the popularity game and don't want a repeat, which is fair enough.

 

Look at what happened to ShadowOperative - he got eliminated in the very first round and practically flipped out, got a perma-ban and simply couldn't handle it. It was kind of ugly.

 

Whatever we do, it needs to be in good humour and good fun, and perhaps not be so personal.

I think we should just focus on car brands. Maybe splitting it up the way Brau suggested.

 

Besides, If we did the personal vehicle thing, y'all would have to watch me for cheating. Like taking 5 points off anything that looks like a GiantsGiants car any time I do a CS update, or trying to vote every 12 hours because I can't get enough of voting against his car.

I knew that would happen in a "contest" like this, that is why I voted the way I did.

 

 

 

 

 

What about a "Personal Vehicles Elimination" ?

I actually like the idea of this a lot - cars combined with forum members. Could be brutal In all seriousness though, there are some truly outstanding PVs out there and it'd be cool for them to get a moment in the limelight.

 

Something to consider for the future?

 

I think that if we do that, the cars should belong to members, but be anonymous. That way you wouldn't get rivalries and such being dragged into it.

 

We could all just give a picture of our chosen car to the OP, who would then list them for everyone to vote on. They'd just have numbers as their names.

Personal vehicles would probably be a bigger project, since everyone might have to PM their cars to the OP, and that could take time for people to get pics. I'm cool with car brands though, but I think they should all be included.

I think it's a good thing, tbh. It allows for the cleansing of abrasive, toxic, and abusive forum members in a fashion that's entertaining to the rest of us. Nothing against shadow, but he brought it upon himself.

 

Aside from a conspiracy theory and a few jabs at each other, everyone handled the game rather maturely I thought (unless I missed something). Shadow just took it too far and did himself in. I blame his personality and ego more than I do the nature of the game, or even the game itself.

Ok, so first off I want to offer my sincere thank you to everyone who participated in this game. One of the members in the final five messaged me about a week ago asking why I didn't put my name in the ring. To be honest, I didn't think I was ready for that level of public scrutiny, I figured being the OP (or just voting from the sidelines) would much more lowkey. So for everyone who did volunteer and offered themselves up to be topics of debate, despite all the cons and negatives involved with that, I appreciate your tenacity. I'm very glad we opened up the game from 25 to 30 players and it was nice to have a well-rounded group of people. Various backgrounds, perspectives, rivalries, etc. You guys made this game what it is, all I did is host. Shoutout to the cast.

 

My idea that I would be OP and therefore low profile was blown out of the water on day one. But I've learned a hell of a lot about you guys individually, about hosting, about the forums, strategy, etc. the list goes on. I'm very pleased to have been the OP for such a crazy game and I'm pleased we made it start to finish without a lock. I didn't know if the game would make it to Page 3. Hell, I feared a lock for this game as recently as this weekend lol.

 

So THANK YOU to everyone behind the scenes offering advice, suggestions and critiques. It truly did go down in the DMs. If you received a message from me or sent one to me, good or bad, you've helped me see things I might not have otherwise. No one likes a "yes man", so I thank you all for a different perspective. I thank the mods for clearing pages worth of sh*tposts, arguments, spam, and other attempts to derail the game. I thank everyone checking the scores and making sure people followed the rules on posts outside the vote. Whether it was for the finale, for the beginning of the game, making the graphs, keeping order, etc. correct scores are crucial to how these games run. You guys are truly the Top Flight Security of the World!!!

 

As far as my thoughts on the game, I'm glad we made it from start to finish. The game was born into chaos once we started, the click-bait title combined with the confusion over how we picked the names, how to vote, posting outside of the vote issues, various arguments, etc. It started off crazy and ended crazy. It was a police state briefly, but the thread had no chill whatsoever, so that was okay too. I'm glad we found a happy medium towards the end. There's was so much contention between so many people, some of it involving me too, but I'm glad we could enjoy the fun of it all. At one point I wanted to rename it "GTAF Exposed" or "If GTA Forums told us how they really feel", but that didn't happen. Over 30K views, 1000+ posts and about 4-5 pages (?) worth of deleted posts later we survived.

 

There's no hard feelings I have with anyone here and I hope we can leave this thread to have good relations in the other threads.

P.S. For all the issues I've had from the crew debates, managing conflicts between members and various other concerns, I've maintained good relations with everyone on both sides of the debate. Whether behind the scenes or publicly. I tried to make this game feel open and transparent, yet organized and unlockable (lol). However dramatic it got, however you felt about things, at least we could end with all hearts and minds clear. No doubts or lingering shade and that's the goal. Keep it in the vote. The strength of these elimination games is based in the enthusiasm of the people who participate and you guys made this one of the best experiences I've had on GTAF. If GTA Forums was a Public Lobby...I'd like to have you guys as bodies for my K/D in my session.

 

PSS. There was an idea to enhance the game with a DLC around the 10 player mark, this would've added new offensive/defensive services found in actual public lobbies modified to help us out here on the forums. After much deliberation behind the scenes, I decided against it for this game. It was better left for V2 (whenever that is, not anytime soon tho)

Ah, yes! Well the Grand Championship has come to a close after two intense weeks. Reports say that the OP, Recon, has slept about 30 minutes in all of those two weeks. We've also got great news that ICant has, for the 9th time during the championship, asked Miss in marriage. We hope she says maybe! ShadowOperative, a player from the start but quickly eliminated, was banned during the game. Our visual FX artist, Ballistics, recently quit his job here and has reportedly moved to Africa where he's blessing every Zebra he comes across. The competition started slow but it picked speed both in terms of elimination and in drama; that we've seen plenty from the championship being viewed as a popularity contest, the crew theory and the home-stretch...

Indeed, the home-stretch was really spectacular. It was a tug-o-war between voters who kept voting up and down the last two contestants. I haven't seen this much tugging since I went to Vegas with your wife, Tom!

Will I return to the next game? Depending on the host and subject matter (as said), I might. Maybe make new characters or bring back Tom & Jerry (cleverly switched to Jerry & Tom). I honestly would've never dropped in here if it wasn't for Recon being the host. I never understood Elimination Games as I never bothered to check them out but the moment I saw Recon was the OP, I learned the rules and I played and man was it some of the best time I've had on this forum in a looong time.
