Yeah so we've addressed this through private messages, but if doubts remain publicly then clearly the problem has yet to be resolved. You say you're not implying a conspiracy, but honestly, you might as well. That's what it sounds like.

 

I've talked to three other individuals about the idea that crews, just like in actual public lobbies, have an advantage in this game. There were quite a few posts yesterday talking about insiders and and cliques and all that.

 

Do the people at large think there's some sort of collusion going on or that the game is being rigged? What is the specific basis for this? How many other people feel this way? Please explain why in detail.

 

This can be addressed.

 

 

 

Well personally, I think that (regardless of conspiracies) crews simply have a large advantage over lone wolf people, both on GTA and on this game.

 

It's not an insult, or an attempt to sh*t-talk anyone's name or anything like that, it's just how I see it. I mean, crew members are hardly going to shoot at each other are they?

 

I don't have massively strong feelings about it, but I do find it hard to say that a large crew of people don't have an advantage over single people. Generally, they don't downvote each other, and you also get people who (otherwise uninterested in the game) pop in to get the backs of their crew members (just like in a GTA session).

 

Not a huge deal anyway - the game's halfway through, and there aren't so many crew people left now.

I personally don't care who is in what crew in the slightest, it's not like you're offering a cash prize for the winner (you're not, right?) so there's no reason to worry about people in the same crew sticking up for each other, it's just supposed to be for a laugh. No big deal who votes for who or why.

To pile on the topic of this being a VS/crew conspiracy, I can assure you all that there is NO conspiracy. We've made little to no mention of this game in the VS thread and the only PM's I've done with VS members in this thread is with Recon (the OP) about his graph and my reports doing a collab, nothing else. This is not a conspiracy and we are NOT looking out for each other. I will openly talk sh*t about Brau, Foz and even Recon because the only advantage that does is being in the same crew and we all know we're cool with one another but that does not mean we'll rig some forum game just for some bro points.

I think the biggest threats are not those in VS/a crew but those with high points. Case in point; Foz has been eliminated. Let's keep this show rolling!

I'd rather not post a response to the post below. This is not a popularity contest, rather who plays nice. Have you noticed the players who were kicked are those with an attitude (which isn't something bad)? Yeah, figures. I've even helped downvote Foz so don't view this as a crew thing, simply as who is friends with who. This thread is a crew; we're all together in this. I feel I'm the best person to promote this as I have no enemies or friends here, I simply love you all equally like a mother with 30 children.

Anyway, let's stay focused! Speaking of high scores, Nacho and Miss are at 22 - would it be best to bring them down with the others (a lot at 20-21, though) or focus on those with less points to make the game more intense? There's some definite tactics to be played here.

Exactly, every person on this forum is a threat to your popularity. Opinions and likes can change in a flash, and I changed my vote several times before I voted, and no doubt will change my opinion again tomorrow.

 

I downvoted Vans and have had a hard time today by whom? Vans members, of course.

 

It's a popularity game, and people will vote for whoever they like. Let people decide through their votes. It's your decision whether you want to bias that vote in favour of Vans.

I don't care who any of you vote for. It's not my concern. Ive said that. I've gone to great lengths to be impartial as far as being an OP is concerned and also with these graphs (the data I use is freely available in the hyperlinks). So that's why I even brought this up. I dont care who wins. I don't know who's gonna win. This thread is too big and too crazy to predict. But I'm in a crew, so apparently there's automatically collusion and the game is unfair. On the strength.

 

People in crews do have advantage over individuals. This is true in the game, this is true here as well. However, the Van Society is an obvious, very public and well known crew. So you see the spinning VS under Braulioaej's name, under LarcenousUrsine's name and under Fozzie's name. It's also under my name. We are all in the same crew.

 

Crew members don't kill each other in public lobbies. Stands to reason crew members won't eliminate each other here. Makes sense.

 

But this is an elimination game. All we have at our disposal is +1 upvote and -2 downvotes. Yeah there's members of the Van Society outside of this game and allies of these individual people outside of the borders of this thread. But is that also not the case for everyone else?

 

People know us from several of the other threads on this forum. Without naming names, some people have gotten upvotes for their threads, some for their pictures, others for their advocacy. No one can say they haven't seen the names of the final 16/15 elsewhere on these forums. This helps people build support. There's no Pip or visual indicator that this person supports that person or vice versa, but the lack thereof doesn't mean they can't win the game.

 

However strong the Van Society is, Fozzie was eliminated. Despite the powers of Facade, Scaglietti was eliminated too. Being in a crew, in and of itself, is a benefit, but only out of the idea that it's a social group that votes the same. Surely there's been groups of people upvoting the same people and downvoting others consistently. But they're not in crews, so it's overlooked.

 

This is where I'm coming from. The up and downvotes on this thread isn't limited to the 30 people or so on the main list. In a public lobby, a crew would hurt you more because you have no backup, but here in this thread you can have backup. Anyone from any section on this forum can come in at a moment's notice to save someone/eliminate someone. That's the beauty of the game. It's random.

 

I don't understand that being in a crew is so strong that support is not only undeniable, but unwavering. It doesn't prevent people from winning the game or getting further. But some are making it seem like the game is imbalanced.

 

There's also the assumption that we only vote for each other, we always ever will vote for each other and the ONLY people we'll eliminate is threats to us, specifically. There's no basis for that

 

It's not even about votes or the Van Society. Im the OP and I just don't want people to think I'm rigging the game in their favor or somehow fixing things to be unfair or whatever.

None taken. I appreciate the perspective. Its good to have counter opinions shared, that's what I was aiming for when I opened up the floor.

 

You hit the nail on the head. I don't see crews as the issue any more than social groups are an issue. Crews are obvious social groups, but there are several social groups without defined insignia (or some form of public identifier) that still have sway over the game.

 

As Texas said in his post above, this has always been true. There was a group supporting the Firetruck over the Ambulance defenders, then there were the Roadcruiser allies who made a go of it at the end. I wanted the FIB Unmarked Buffalo to win, but I could never get people over to rally behind it. So it lost terribly. There's the Snowball brigade who somehow overcame the Sticky Bomb to battle the Molotov supporters for win. There was the RPG fans vs the Grenade Launcher fans and infamous battle between Los Santos Rock Radio and Radio Mirror Park. My favorite choice was Flylo FM, but there wasnt a group to support that and subsequently, it died.

 

Getting people to support your cause is crucial in these Elimination Games. It's the only way to win when the race gets to the bitter end and it's the only way to survive long enough to get there. We're eliminating people instead of things, so the process cuts deeper that it otherwise would.

 

But how this game works compared to how any other Elimination Game works isn't that different.

 

If any one has any counter to this view or suggestions, critiques, solutions whatever. Please feel free to say so. Thats the point of this endeavor. If not, then that's fine too.

My reaction when Recon mentions Ursine, Brau and Foz as VS members but didn't include me.



Really digging the approach Texas gave on attacking crews. I can definitely see the Van Society huddled together on a corner of the map and Texas comes in with an attack chopper, just wanting to make enemies. That's what I've been wanting to see since my first post in here! I love it! Keep the scenarios coming, guys! We're currently at 15 players (halfway done!) and we're at the "crews versus members" status. I wonder what it's gonna be when we go in the top 5. I can't wait. I haven't changed my pants in fear of wetting another pair.
