Fox2Quick
Looking to see if we have any here. I've always been partial to drift cars and finally got myself a rig back in October. Started its life as a stock HPI Sprint 2 Drift. Was good as a 50/50 car out of the box, but I wanted more. Over the course of the winter, I've done a couple swaps and conversions, and now it's a mash-up of parts from 5 different cars. CS Ratio: 1.83 (32t rear diff, 18t rear pulley, 12t front pulley, 39t front diff), had to reconfigure the front belt tensioner 27t pinion, 84t spur Front one-way diff, locked rear, Sakura D3 ultra wide angle CVDs up front, stock D3 CVDs in the rear Yeah Racing aluminum adjustable height shocks, with custom monoshock setup in the front using parts from an MST FXX IFS kit Cut C-hubs and custom upper arms out of an old set of servo mounts Aluminum front knuckles from an Eagle Racing R31, rears are en route Partial steering rack swap from an HPI RS4 mixed with GPM aluminum Sprint 2 steering arms (gonna try the arms off an R31 as well) Electronics all relocated to the front-right with the battery moved to the left side, going front to back Novak Drift-spec brushless motor and ESC Savox 1258 hi torque high speed metal gear servo Still haven't gone LiPo yet I'm sure there's one or two things I'm forgetting as well Currently waiting for some other parts and working on an indoor basement track. I've got about 5 people that I tandem with regularly and hope to have some videos soon. HeavyDuke and Flachbau

Fox2Quick
Pretty badass. Have you changed anything about it, or is it all stock? I like nitros, but I mostly run indoors and run my car way too often to want to worry about gas.

I like nitros, but I mostly run indoors and run my car way too often to want to worry about gas. Its stock, fast as hell though. If you haven't seen a stock Mad Force Kruiser, i suggest you look it up at youtube because these things have a 3 speed gearbox and wheelie like crazy. Other then that i have some other rc cars collecting dust, all nitro except for a King Blackfoot which is from my childhood. Just sold a twin engine Gigaforce like days ago. Fox2Quick
I had the electric King Blackfoot back when I was a kid as well. That was fun to build. Did it when I was like 11. Surprised I managed to not lose any parts. HeavyDuke
HeavyDuke
I had the electric King Blackfoot back when I was a kid as well. That was fun to build. Did it when I was like 11. Surprised I managed to not lose any parts. I drove mine so many times, it was completely worn out. Left for dead for many years. However now i fully rebuilt it with new gears and bearings instead of the old brushings and added bigger tires to it. However because all plastic is so old, it got really weak. So now its just standing there as a childhood memory. PS after some digging, i found these two and a roller. Serpent Impacts with late 80's unpainted NASCAR lumina bodies. One from Parma the other from Duratrax. These Serpents are superten scale. They pretty much are as wide as a regular 1/8 rc car, but as long as a regular 1/10. Fast as hell with the current race engines 'Nova Mega and the Picco race spec engine' Oh and i decided not to sell the Mad Force. However its going to get a Clodbuster body, Supercharger/Blower airfilter 'found it while digging through my old stuff' Its not a dummy blower. Its a working airfilter. PS the serpents pretty much have the opposite of your cars when it comes to its rear wheels lol. These really have some big fat tires. Yet still these can drift for a second before hooking and shooting away like a rocket. However i think with electric/brushless, it might be easyer to control? Because lets say these Serpents, they simply shift to second gear when its needed. Pretty much like racing an sports car with an automatic trany. AusSantos
I've had a few RC cars over the last few years.. Sadly due to having a daughter I just don't have the time for them anymore.. My first was a Tamiya TT01 - only had this one for a few months as I much prefer Nitro, so I sold the TT01 to fund a HPI trophy 3.5 for off-road and a GV BV-1 for onroad. The BV-1 was a blast to drive, so quick and I always enjoyed listening to the gearbox click over into 2nd gear..had some nice drift sessions with it and did a lot of customisation..to begin with I spent most of my time with this car and learnt how to tune R/C engines with this car. The receiver range was very disappointing on this car, so after only one outing I went and bought a new transmitter/receiver combo to properly enjoy it, i bought the FlySky FS-GT3B as it was a good value transmitter and one of the only ones at my local hobby store that actually included a receiver..I bought an extra receiver for the HPI as well because the new transmitter allowed more than one receiver to be programmed. The Trophy was amazing too..this one I ran straight out of the box until the steering servo gear shattered during an off road run..I replaced it with a Savox servo with metal gearing to avoid the same thing occurring. I'll have to dig through and find some pics of my cars..typing all this has made me really miss taking them out.. HeavyDuke
HeavyDuke
PS i still have my good ol 1/8 buggy somewhere, now that thing drifts. It has a P7-RR special ported, runs on 25% nitro and can run up to 36.000 rpm. Engine/clutch alone on this one was like 400 euro back in the day 'just for the Engine/turbo plug/clutch and carb'. But that thing flies. I'll record it later on this summer because the engine just screams.
Fox2Quick
Thank god I have a bench grinder. Had an issue yesterday where my center pulleys kept slipping. The stock ones are held by a pin and a hole in the shaft. I've regeared it and the aftermarket pulleys use set screws. Had to grind out a pair of flat spots in the shaft to give the set screws something to bite on. My rear belt was a touch too small with the 18t pulley so I had to drop it to a 16t. Got a bigger belt coming from BOOM Racing. Right now I'm stuck sitting on a 1.63 ratio, meaning I can her fly get my wheels to full lock without pulling out of the drifts. When the bigger belt comes, I'll be able to run a 20t rear and be at 2.03 CS. That's probably how I'll leave it, even though some nutjobs run as high as 4.0 Edited April 20, 2016 by Fox2Quick
