sagsf420 166
As long as it's not incessant and maybe a seperate volume option? It drives me nuts in V (especially when flying) because the only way to disable it is by turning music volume to 0 which in turn mutes the radio, I know R* wanted it to feel "cinematic" but some of us are more immeresed by the raw atmospheric sound of the game world, especially in a game like GTA.
Femme Fatale 10,205
I'd love an extreme metal score, something like this can play in the background during action sequences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyM8cpCLYT8
Yinepi 1,487
GTA5 original score somehow managed to be snore fest and annoying. Not because original score for GTA5 was bad idea, but because of the actual sound of soundtrack and way it was implemented just did not fit game-play style too well. I think if they bring back for 6 then it need be composed by someone better like Romolo Di Prisco or Jesper Kyd or perhaps even Jerry Martin, and need be able to choose when you want to play in options menu. During Police Chase, or missions, or freeroam, etc... just options for all these so people can choose when or if they want it play. Mister Pink 12,209
I agree with Sags ^ I liked it at the start but then some times I just wanted to hear the sound effects and other players. When playing SA or IV, I never felt it was missed. Some times it's fun other times it can be a bit of a nuisance. @Yinepi: I disagree that the choice of artists were poor. I think they definitely set out to capture the 80's and even 90's vibe that's associated with films that inspire GTA V like Thief. Thief is (you guessed it) a heist film and it's probably one of the influences on picking Tangerine Dream to do the soundtrack. hasidichomeboy 1,062
I personally really liked the score, even if it is a bit repetitive at times, and if they do decide to have an original score for the next game I hope they get HEALTH to compose it, but that's probably just me. [...] 5,983
I wouldn't mind having an original score again as long as it's done, like Darkshadows said, with an ability to turn on/off the score, so I can decide whether I play missions in a cinematic way or a realistic way.
universetwisters 34,228
I wouldn't want a score because if anything, it just ruins the whole feel of it to me. Like if I want to just get in a shootout with cops for example, I actually want to get focused with the shootout and get it on the best I can, and I can't do that with a custom score or any other background music because it just feels like you're being rushed to do things to the song instead of doing it at your own beat. Sure, Hollywood movies have their own score for action scenes and I can get behind that a lot easier than scores for video games because with a movie, you're just watching some guy do actioney sh*t. In a video game, you're the one doing the actioney sh*t. But failing that, at least the option to turn it off. I f*cking hated playing GTA Online and the minute I got out of my car to pick something up in a mission, that background music comes out of nowhere all loud and sh*t and it won't go away until I get in a car and put the radio on. ClaudeSpeed1911 3,523
This is what they should do, only insert the score when it needs to be. The video above wouldn't work if it had music playing when the shooting starts. Its much more impactful without it. Saying that, I feel like Rockstar added the score just because the sound design in the game sucks. Weapons sound like peashooters and the sound effects are very "holywood ish".

It's so perfect that more perfect it can't be ! Edited February 9, 2017 by TheRockfordGuy
TheOneLibertonian 4,244
I am one of the few people that really liked GTA V's score, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the implementation of the music. If there were an original score, I want something that's a bit more understated, and not your typical bombastic action movie score. Something like Vangelis, or Jan Hammer styled score for a future game set in Vice City would be very neat. But I'd love an option to turn it off as well because sometimes it gets a bit disorienting hearing the exact same music for a dozen times after 50 hours of playing into the game. Music implementation must compliment the atmosphere, and tone of the setting, and situation. Something ala The Revenant's or even Heat's inclusion of music in certain scenes. Music should be put where it matters, and not just everywhere all over the place like in GTA V.
LincolnClay 1,059
Yeah, I'd like an original score in all of the future GTA instalments. One of the reasons I find myself playing this overrated, dead game. Chill, V fans, I like it too, but it's got some major faults that haven't been addressed by R*. One of them being a lack of Story DLC, I mean come on! You TOLD us we would get more story. But yeah. The original score was pretty cool, I want this to be standard in a GTA game now. jaljax 902
I'd like to listen to the radio instead of a score or even the natural environment Also like other's have mentioned it was good , but it got a little annoying after awhile especially in Online
Racecarlock 732
Yes, but not in free roam. Because when I turn the radio off, it's generally because I don't want to hear any music at all, or because I've got something playing on my PC because it's nearby like an episode of a youtuber I like or some classic V-Rock music because V-Rock is the sh*t, and what I don't want is the "Epic orchestral score" deciding that it's more important in my game and thus deciding to ruin my decision to play my music over the game by playing it's own instead.
MARKUS. 669
Of course. No doubt! How amazing GTA IV could be if some score was playing during critical missions such as revenge or so... For those folks who doesnt like it (which I completely dont understand but respect it) just add a volume bar for score or an ON/OFF option but I prefer the bar because I dont know why but the score while being chased by the police in free roam was very low compared within missions

Kaname Madoka 47
I hope they make an original score again, i really enjoyed the wanted level themes and bizarrely enough i do like the flying theme (it's kind of calming), i also want an option to turn them off individualy from radio stations since they get kind of repetitive in Online.
wise_man 727
Of course, but it should be played only during cutscene or intense mission scenes (e.g. when you're chasing your target). Whenever we turn on the radio, the score should be automatically disabled. And I wish we get Michael Hunter or HEALTH back as GTA VI composer.

FanEu7 563
GTA V was the first GTA game with its own soundtrack that played during all the missions. I think it was great and would hope it continues. It made the missions more movie like and exciting. Themes like this are especially memorable:
Eadwine_ 392
Absolutely. The score is a key part of any game/movie/series. Would be a major step backward if they skipped it.
