The Dedito Gae 28,414
I liked at first but it got horribly bland and generic in no time, the only songs i really like are the Trevor rampage songs and the tune that sounds when you chase the Lost MC. Piggsy pls 1,829
^That's cause there are a huge range of themes in the game but for some reason it plays the same ones over and over. Especially in GTA Online. Themes like Trevor's first mission theme, and Minor Turbulence are very rare.
B Dawg 10,327
I don't care, as long as there's an Off switch, something V lacked.
Mokrie Dela 2,986
No. Having the same repetitive one-bar baseline repeating itself for twenty minutes (because I took the long way round) was annoying as f*ck. So much so I had to put the radio on to not hear it. It was a great idea, but it did get tiresome for me (personally) Having volume control would be nice; I like playing games with no soundtrack. To me it adds to my immersion. Loved doing that in RDR and splinter cell, and those two games have the best soundtracks I've heard Edited April 27, 2016 by Mokrie Dela
kraftwerkd 193
I personally love the soundtrack to listen to by itself, and the way you can manipulate the intensity in the editor, but the in-game implementation was lacking. Too repetitive sometimes. But that soundtrack is still one of my favourite things to listen to in full. The implementation of it was sick, though, you have to admit. I'd love it if the same team came back to the VI soundtrack, because the music they made is just incredible. Edited April 28, 2016 by kraftwerkd
UAL 1,217
Ultimately it didn't work IMO Maybe to some it made no difference, but to me it made the game feel like a generic Hollywood action flick. The gun fights in IV were way more intense, mainly because of the ambient sounds of gunshots, guns reloading, people running, screaming and then the diegetic music coming from cars that people had fled from worked together to make things more atmospheric and seem more dangerous. The score just didn't fit well for me.
Algonquin Assassin 49,966
I don't think it should be removed, but it would be nice if there was an option to turn the volume down (or off entirely) without needing to turn down the music volume which effectively just turns off the radio. I didn't mind the score. I agree it took away some of the intensity from gun fights, but there were moments like during Bury The Hatchet when Michael was driving to Ludendorff the score added really nicely to the atmosphere IMO. So I think it should be kept. Just allow us to turn it on or off independently would be the best solution I feel.
JosephStalin 607
It would make zero sense to remove it completely, just have the option to turn it off on the pause menu, problem solved. I honestly thought it was great myself, Tangerine Dream & the rest done a fantastic job.
Piggsy pls 1,829
f*ck that, it was the best thing about GTA V, one of the things it did better than GTA IV. I put Max Payne 3's soundtrack on while I play IV.
Zello 20,176
I don't mind it in missions but keep it off when we're just screwing around. Edited July 24, 2016 by Zello

Pedinhuh 20,493
I say it should stay, as long as we get an option to turn it off without turning off the radio. This way both sides get what they want.
PhillBellic 24,564
An Option to turn it off would suffice. Having a separate Volume Control Slider would also be neat.
HoleInTheSky 1,057
The musical score is solid, but the option to turn it off would be even better. I tend to mute the radio when free-roaming, just so I can absorb the world around me, which is, at times, way more exciting than a licensed track or score being played over the top. Jammsbro 3,442
Completely wrong. The score was one of the best elements of the game. It made everything feel more cinematic. Some of the events and scenes power was entirely due to the score. Look at when Mike drive through Yankton and how good it was. Now remove the score and it's a dead scene with no life. UAL 1,217
It made everything feel more cinematic. Exactly my point. GTA V didn't seem like a GTA game because of that, like I said in the OP it made it feel like a Hollywood action flick. The scene with Michael driving to the cemetery was different. It had to be done as that particular scene acted as an epilogue to the mission, it was similar to when you first arrive in Mexico in RDR and that song kicks in. Having one or two scenes like that wouldn't bother me. I'm more talking about corny music being played while you're having a gun fight or gain a wanted level. Tbf removing it completely is maybe a tad too far but there should certainly be an option to turn it off. Edited July 25, 2016 by UAL
GTA-Biker 6,236
I'd also like the ability to turn it off.I don't like how there's always some ambient music in GTA Online missions and at some other times (I think when flying an aircraft, in a shootout, when having a wanted level...).I wouldn't even mind it much if it knew when to kick in,but it's really annoying when I'm just casually driving a car or riding a motorcycle to the objective, and there's an intense music playing like I'm in the middle of an action scene in some action movie. Alpha Demigod 722
The gun fights in IV were way more intense, mainly because of the ambient sounds of gunshots, guns reloading, people running, screaming and then the diegetic music coming from cars that people had fled from worked together to make things more atmospheric and seem more dangerous. This is a very good point, but you have to remember GTA4 was going for a more gritty and serious tone. So it made sense to have intense gunfights. GTAV was going for a light-hearted crazy zany vibe...so the music fits to establish such tone. Ultimately I don't think this can be a "blanket statement" of "no music or yes music". It would depend on the direction the game is taking. And like another person suggested, just capture the best of both worlds by having an option to enable/disable the music as the player himself sees fit. keep it off when we're just screwing around. It was never on when you screw around. There has never been music during free-roam, unless you count the soundtrack from radios in cars.

It is whenever you jack a plane and when you're flying it randomly starts playing the same thing happens when you're trying to escape from the cops the score starts to play. Damn I never knew that, maybe because I never liked to f*ck around and cause mayhem in GTA like most players. But still, cool to know. I guess an option for music volume in the menu would please everyone.
Dee-account-with-1kbans 4,630
I love the score in V. Just wish it was a bit more dynamic
TheHumanIsland 561
I'd like the ability to disable it. I prefer it without, but I also think it worked sometimes, too. I want to hear music when I am listening to music, not out of nowhere, so for me, I want to turn it off. Everyone really wants a music app for their phone or a radio for their phone anyway. That would be better, radio on foot.
Mikeol1987 1,829
I welcome the option to turn it off completely but liked certain aspects of it in V. I think in the same breath though, that it is not a necessary part of the GTA formula so I wouldn't miss it I guess. Edited July 26, 2016 by Mikeol2014
Lunar_Twisted 101
Whenever I am in a mission, I usually turn down the music so I don't hear the musical score. However, I turn it back on when in a vehicle. A option to turn off the music score would be nice.
Zello 20,176
I wonder who will compose it. The leader from Tangerine Dream (Edgar Froese) died last year, so I don't think they will be brought back. Woody Jackson has worked on every Rockstar game score since Red Dead Redemption, and created all of the rock/metal songs on V's score, so I think he will be brought back in some capacity. Alchemist and Oh No (they did all the urban themes, and also worked on CTW for Rockstar) may also return but all that depends on what theme R* want for GTA VI. In all honesty, I hope R* works with Health again, the guys who created Max Payne 3's soundtrack. They had a song in V, imagine a score created by them, with help from Woody and Alchemist/Oh No? Max Payne 3's soundtrack is literally the greatest thing ever created.I'd like to see what Michael Hunter can do he did the main theme music for SA and IV Edited July 27, 2016 by Zello

BLACK DYNAM1TE 548
Wait? We haven't had a New Survival in almost 2 years and you guys come up with a 'think tank' about the f*cking background music?? That's f*cked up.
Mister Pink 12,205
I would prefer a soundtrack station and it not "forced" on us. It's a nice touch some times but like others said I like to listen to the world as I'm some missions. The music itself is brilliant, just some times I'd rather none. Some times music that isn't intended for a particular scene comes on and has this happy complimentary feeling in some moments by accident. I like that. SinZer0s 2,054
Having a score for GTA V made me feel more entertained, but if the next GTA has a score again PLEASE DO NOT MAKE SOME SONGS REPEAT OVER AND OVER AGAIN have more variety on which tracks the game chooses also have a turn ON/OFF score option for people that don't want it.
