guides subsection in gtao

first of all i like your new structure changings in the gtao section.

especially the removing of the needless gameplay section makes alot of sense.

 

i just miss the sub section for guides (& strategies).

what was the reason for removing this sub section?

 

that section made really sense to me because you had all the guides in one place.

Guides was merged with Gameplay and renamed Jobs & Activities upon merging. All important guides are still there pinned, or on 1st page.

i just think it would make sense to still have an extra sub section for guides to find certain guides easier.

I agree with this. The gameplay section was a freaking disaster with a thread for every single mission and heist. IMO whatever mod allowed this is a moron. Now we have all the guides mixed in with this crap that we used to call the gameplay section.

f*ck even III, IV, SA and VC have their own guides section. So why remove it from the current most popular game???

Come on people get your sh*t together.

It's not been removed per se, Jobs & Activities is the Guides forum, see the updated description, it just has a different name to reflect GTA Online terminology. A separate Gameplay area wasn't needed because it only contained overflow topics that should go into the main area, or were tip topics that belonged in Guides, hence the shift. Our idea was to have to dedicated vehicles area and a dedicated strategy area, so the layout itself works.

 

The only thing I would agree with you on is that this growing trend of having a topic for every single job in the game is causing a problem, because they are completely taking over and more often than not have no replies in them or only talk about how good the mission is instead of tips on how to complete them. If it wasn't for these topics, you'd see no difference other than the name changes.

But the problem is these topics are there and there are TONS of them and its not so new. Its been going on for a while and mods told me that it would stop but it has not stopped at all. It seems like there are new mission threads every other day. If its causing a problem why not just remove the threads rather than dumping them into another section where they do not belong?

 

Like I said almost all other gta games have their own guides section which IMO general gameplay topics do not belong in. The addition of a vehicle section is welcome and was a good idea but removing the gameplay section and clogging the guides section with all those useless threads was a horrible idea.

Like I said, you have made a good point about the mission topics, but just because you personally think they are useless doesn't mean they are in the wrong place under the current description and that we should create another forum for them. If you hide those topics for a moment, all you'll see on the first few pages are guides or people asking for tips, so the forum is the same as the Guides forum, it just has a GTA Online related name.

 

We'll discuss this further amongst staff to see what we can do to help improve the area though. Are there any particularly helpful or popular guides that you feel are too hidden? Suggestions are welcome, see this topic which we opened last month and have been using to discuss with the regulars of the section.

Well let's take the Elite Leaderboard thread for example? This thread requires quite a lot of work (especially early on) to manage and has bursts of interest here and there, but now with the new category and all these new threads included the Elite thread gets lost onto page 3,4, 5 even if it doesnt have a post one day with endless mission or vehicle threads with maybe 1 page or a handful of responses (normally with copy paste answers from when they were asked by forum members the day before). Yes, I do understand that the Elite Guide thread is now pinned which is great, but the leaderboard thread contains all the fastest times on the forum and hours of video footage of teams competitively competing for elite challenge times.......for this to be drowned out within minutes by on my count currently 20 separate 'mission discussion' threads with on average 3-5 responses, copy pasted 'how to get rich quick' threads... just doesnt quite make sense to me.
