The homing launcher is almost useless against a jet, so not really effective at dealing with most pilots. I find it much more effective on the ground. Firstly, it locks onto all vehicles, so is great for people in cars that are running away, and it also has a longer range than an RPG. Just use the sniper to line up your shot, switch to the HL and press aim & fire together. I'd rather we had more ammo capacity for it - at least 20 rockets - and would like to be able to toggle the lock on and off. If it would do those 2 things I'd ditch the RPG.

When I use it on the ground it locks onto every car but the one I want to hit.

You can switch between locking targets by tapping L1/R1 on ps, dunno about pc.

Good point - I forget about that as I tend to use the method I described above. I just find it quicker.

I want to ask something for the fans out there, why do you guys need to shoot down any air vehicle you see? When someone is flying a plane, there will always be someone aiming with the HL

As an experienced jet pilot, your homing rockets fail 90% of the time. Lol.

Its a beast if you are flying with the sound turned off. Id reccomend rockstar remove the lock sound, so much more intense for pilots.

Aircraft, especially armed aircraft carry warning systems to detect hostile lock-ons. This game isn't 100% realistic as it is, though taking away this warning system would be away would be annoyingly unrealistic.

It's bad enough the lock-on warning is glitched (At times not relaying proximity of incoming missiles or flat-out going quiet even though a missile is still approaching). If anything, R* should fix this issue.

Some people were humiliated and tortured by Annihilators (I'll protect his dignity by hiding his name).

Rumour has it, he holds a grudge against all aircraft.

Lol at anyone who genuinely believes the homing launcher is necessary against helicopters. Just lol. Oh, and a little extra lol on top of that.

Well its a simple way to make it possible to take down a jet. Realism has no place in non simulator game.

I was basically unstoppable with the buzzard in 2013. the hl killed that. miniguns were a big problem but my missile usually hits first time anyway.

then again all they did was made me switch to the hydra which is far better and far more of a threat.

Best way to deal with a jet is to either go grab a Jet yourself, activate Passive Mode, or switch lobbies.

If you take off the lock-on warning system, you'd be harming helicopters more than jets. Jets have speed and agility, helicopters for the most part do not. Jets would have more time to see an incoming missile and react accordingly. Choppers would have less time to see and react.

On the matter of realism: Like I said, I know GTAV/O isn't 100% realistic, but neither is it as ridiculously unrealistic as Saints Row. Quite frankly, I enjoy V/O's place on this spectrum.

Regardless of realism, complete removal of the warning system would in turn make Public Lobbies no-fly zones, rendering all aircraft pretty much useless.

Removing the warning system is about as likely as removal of the Homing Launcher. In other words, not gonna happen.

I don't remember anyone being unstoppable in a Buzzard.

Even if you couldn't be harmed by ground players (which you absolutely can), then there'd be jets to sort you out.

As we all know, taking down helicopters in a jet is a simple case of dive bombing.

Just 90%? You're bad.

Plenty of people had to stand outside an Ammunation and they still fail to shoot me down after several runs into it. (Keep in mind this was before the update that allows you to buy directly from the interaction menu)

Mmm, I suppose you think you're perfect.

Yeah but you had to drag your ass to Zancudo (and risk dying, before Turn Blind Eye was a thing) to get a jet so they were rare, and very predictable.

I miss the good ole Buzzard days too, especially once they added non-locking rockets. They didn't lock onto PVs so it was all about timing and aim whether you were killing people on foot or moving.

True, but they were a hell of a lot more fair than jets are now.

I mean, at least there were plenty of vehicles that could challenge them. Besides, if a Buzzard wanted to attack, he/she put themselves at risk anyway, since they're slow moving, don't take much damage, and can't just zoom off and dive bomb everyone.

They could be a pain if they were in the right hands, but so can anything. I just don't like the way people exaggerate how helicopters were. they weren't anything close to how jets are.

Urgh, I miss them badly. they're just not the same anymore.

Oh yeah not even close. But that's why I miss the days of the chopper as king, you had to really work to get good and there was almost nothing higher in the food chain.

nobody used the jet in 2013, or atleast very few. and I could kill people before they got to zancudo since passive was sh*t.

Well i sure as hell don't lock on to every air craft even tho i like the HL.

I can tell in a few seconds if the air craft is hostile or not. Im pretty aware of everything going on in the game. And im not a kill happy type of player so i don't go out of my way to attack all air crafts. Because i know full well not all pilots are hostile.

Alot of the times for me i may lock on with a HL but i won't fire. Basically just a little warning. I even verbally warn them to and say "Don't do it. If they fly away.. i put it down.

And if for some reason i see someone lock on to a friendly air craft with a HL and take them down.. I will attack the hostile player on the ground who used the HL out of principle. Seriously.. if someone uses a HL on a Dodo i kind of lose my mind for a few minutes... i will f*ck that ground player up ASAP.

You don't have to be the game police, if someone wants to kill someone, let them be, no different than you shooting down a jet pilot and one of their friends killing you out of "principle".

If some people want to kill people, let them be, I am sure you wouldn't enjoy if I started killing you over and over because you blew someone's car up.

I don't need your permission to deal with pests.

I don't like killing friendly players... But i need to kill someone.. So i kill players that like to kill players.. Instead of killing players for no reason.

Don't like it.. Call the in game police on me for all i care. :p

sh*t i've been playing free roam vigilante for over 2 years now.. Ain't stop gonna stop now buddy.. And i don't get killed over and over.. Im like a ninja..

I like how it locks onto stuff so you don't have to worry about silly things like aiming, timing or trajectory.

Hope this helps,

Im usually only taken down only once a day. But last night the homing launcher cost me two deaths, It didnt lock onto a Attack Buzzard out to get me. He was 50 feet into the air and it didnt lock. I should have been able to manually aim but he knew what I was doing and simply changed altitude.

Then a Kuruma was about to turn around to run me over and it was only 4 blocks away, No red homing launcher lock confirmation, quick response by the driver to get out of the way when I still launched it and I got run over. Not sure if Ill take it out again with that fail rate, Never had that problem before.

Before Homing launcher, you could just hover the buzzard out of range and pepper the minigunner with missiles. Only noobs got as close the pilot in this example.

If you're at that kind of range (where you can barely see the player), the ground player can easily snipe your Buzzard into smoking/critically damaged health.

Only takes a shot or two and it's done.
