It was fun, actually. I created a male character (that I use way more than my female) because I was hoping that the insane amount of are you a girl messages would stop - but they didn't due to my gamer tag BUT it decreases when playing as my male. I was bored of GTA so I said why the f*ck not? It was fun. Even though I made him go from level 60 to 100 in 5 days but whatever.

I wish we could create more.

I started playing on my housemate's account, so had never been though the tutorial or anything. It also gave me a chance to create an entirely new character with different properties, clothing, car styles, weapons, Pegasus vehicles etc. etc. I play them both equally now both are over level 100, but he didn't see a much use until the 2xRP missions week.

Main is male, secondary character is a female. Best of both worlds.

Then I wanted a second character, mostly cos I wanted to create a smoking hot female.. And I succeeded, hehe... I like to d ress her as hot as possible and currently she's at level 113... I can now decide which things are important and which things I shouldn't waste money on...

I love playing as her, mainly cos I like her sexy style/walk and behind... :p

@Hell and Seen, LOL ! Number one reason for the secondary account, a chance to mold a hot girl. Cause I did it too. I dress her up like a little doll or seductress and then log her out, I dont want to see her fighting, Havent got to that point yet

Oh dear...

Soran Is On

The only way I'd start a new character is if every was back to square 1 also.

The fact that you can buy a homing launcher at level 1 makes starting a new character kinda pointless.

Making new characters is fun, leveling up is fun.

I have 2 accounts.

Main account I'm lvl 704/157

Second account I'm lvl 84/5

Yes I have a second character. Her primary role is to be a "Car Mule", essentially a char who's sole purpose is to stockpile NPC modified cars. She does have one 10-car garage for her cars though. I do have to admit, rebuilding from the ground up (Save for bank account) has been fun. In a little over two weeks she has gone from nothing to a 65, earned her own Buzzard and who knows, might get her own Yacht if I can keep her ammo costs under control by 120. Plus it's nice to have 2 dailies and a backup char for VIP when it expires on whomever I'm playing on.

I started a second character in November of 2013 just so I could have 20 PVs instead of just 10.

Since then she is my primary one to use. I also didn't make the mistake of buying every Pegasus vehicle for her when SantaModders gave me gifts.

Back then you couldn't skip all the tutorials and mandatory cutscenes with a second character.

Very humbling to start over in those days when there wasn't any decent DLC weapons and everything else was rank-locked. The only weapons you could own was the crap-pistol, melees, one shotgun and a couple submachine guns against other players with assault rifles, explosives, and armed Pegasus vehicles.

My secondary character..

Alice. Lvl 113

Picked on as a kid, has a massive chip on her shoulder. Hates being told what to do.

Is a bit of a c*nt

I wanted to start from scratch on ps4, it was a wise choice. Makes it a bit fresher alternating between two completely different characters.

My primary has been there since day 1 LG. I made a secondary some time after PC release to "research" some info for a GTA Online guide I was going to write. Then I figured "screw that" since most players didn't even spent 3 missions in singleplayer only to hop online, so I figure it's their own fault that they don't understand sh*t.

Recently I got tired of my main and wanted another experience. Something new, but more like a New Game +. I made up a little hardcore challenge for myself, and here's how it goes:

-Hud and Radar disabled. More of a challenge and you pay more attention.

-No head starts. Money of your other character must be withdrawn, use an ATM because it allows you to transfer it all at once.

-Must re-complete the tutorial. Just for story purposes.

-No purchases of weapons allowed, you only have the standard pistol as permanent weapons. Any weapon you want needs to be acquired through freemode or jobs. This way you can have guns, but they won't clutter your weapon wheel after a while. Attachment purchases are allowed since you only pay once and the weapon disappears later anyway. Cannot buy more than 10 magazines of ammo for a weapon. Can only hold 3 weapons (excluding standard issue pistol).

-No personal vehicles at crime scenes. You may not drive up to the mission in your PV and you must commit as few crimes as possible while in it. (A sort of "evidence" mechanic, so that the car can't be traced back to you). You may fit stolen (and modified) vehicles with a tracker to bring it into a mission. However after several missions the evidence needs to be destroyed. You may use your PVs in missions, but only as a cruising vehicle for preparations, or as a hidden getaway car (PV that is not entered before a crime makes it harder for police to spot you). If you do get caught in your PV, it needs to be resprayed.

-Clothes must represent your current progress (i.e. street style clothes when doing Gerald missions, mid-end clothes when working for Lester, formal clothes when working for Madrazo). Properties follow the same rule. You may not start missions where you do not meet the level requirement. You may also not start higher-level missions until you've completed all the previously unlocked missions. This is to keep progression a bit linear.

-May not "start" the mission before doing thorough planning (Looking for sniping spots, escape routes, etc...) This may be done in the mission itself, as it will only increase your payout in the end. Only friends who are doing the same challenge may join you (so that you don't have Kuruma people doing the heavy lifting).

Optional extra challenge:

- First person view for about 80% of the time.

- Use in-game chat if playing with friends.

- No minigun or homing launcher. No drive-by throwing stickies or proxy mines while driving a car, bikes are an exception.

- No armed Pegasus vehicles. Trucks and such are still allowed.

- Must always use masks during crimes (sometimes helps to lose wanted level). Gloves must be worn when using any weapons other than your pistol.

I've had a blast so far. Driving slower cars in chases, having more intense shootouts. having to actually prep for every mission. The payouts are always max because of mission preparations taking more time, so money is usually not an issue. Some of the "extra challenge" options get annoying after a while so I stop following those. If you can convince some friends to participate in this challenge it really feels like a classic action flick instead of the old blow everything up approach.

The way I see it, Its the perfect opportunity for someone that has it all and done it all, to see GTA 5 with new eyes. Start fresh and have a second chance to discover what weapons, mods and cars are really important to you and what was a impulse buy

Its also an opportunity to show off your real skills without making the mistakes of a noob.

Ive only heard positive things from those that have taken the plunge and done it. Yes, doing the second character slot is easy cause you share the money and the K/D right?

But has anyone started solely from scratch from a whole new account on their console.

Just a few weeks ago I decided to do just this. I have an extra GT that I only used to replay SP so I decided to do a new character with this account.

I got the idea from watching mods on YT where someone started from scratch with Franklin and built him up. In the mod there's tons of ways to make $. The only way for me to this on XB1 is GTAO.

So I made a female character because, why not and dressed her up to look "cool". Ended up with an outfit where the pants have the same anime print as the Sultan RS. I decided that my end goal should include owning the Sultan RS with the matching anime livery.

That was about three weekends ago and it's really been fun. I started out broke and with just a pistol. It was weird not having even Simeon as a contact. It was nice doing early missions knowing what I had to do and saving every crooked dollar I earned. Felt good to save ~20K for a crappy 2 car garage so I could enjoy having my vehicle delivered and having a reliable place to spawn.

Going broke buying a luxury apartment so I can start the first heist and have the Kuruma available was another milestone. I'm now level 35 with a Kuruma, Sultan RS with the anime livery and about 100K. I've already accomplished pretty much what I set out to do so it's not as much fun now, but it was a good time for a while.

I suggest anyone who hasn't tried it to give it a shot. I also recommend a female character. I was amazed at how nice everyone is when they think you are a girl. Very rarely did I get randomly killed (maybe twice) and people loved giving me rides or even their vehicles. One person on a bike gave me theirs and stole a different one so we could ride together. I suspect there are a lot of thirsty young boys playing this

@Sov47. Thats pretty detailed . Glad youre getting a lot out of it thru ingenuity, following certain self made rules and disciplining yourself. You would make a good game designer. I never played the earlier versions of GTA 5 but Ive seen others play. Often Id like to see a more realistic challenging game. Its purely a zany sandbox for now with all the military weapons/vehicles in the city options, definately not a realistic world as it stands.

I'm all for more realism

Speaking of,... I just got killed by a jet and RPGed in a session when I was going for a motorcycle ride thru the city. Two different deaths when I was least expecting. Annoying as hell so I switched sessions. When I fight, I do ambushes and shootouts and firing at drive bys mostly on foot

My favorite mission to take my time is Cleaning out the Cathouse. Sandy shores sees so little action, but I like the area.

I created a female character and have never been treated better! My GT is not gender specific, in fact it can lend itself to be female. I was going to act stuck up and be a real bitch, but figured I just let thirsty boys stay thirsty!

@Edsterok. Im approaching where you are, My next step above my two car garage is saving up for the custom eclipse apartment (my older account has all three of them . 3 one million dollar apartments / different views)

and then getting back my Kuruma

Next step after that is getting my attack buzzard back , I can live without the Jet. Then my armored shafter and finaly, getting Lesters off radar option back, muhahaha..

My current vehicles is a cheap Bati motorcycle , and a gang ( already pimped out) bright purple vapid peyote I was lucky to find on the street.

Death Rains From Above

Used to have a level 170-ish male character as my primary a long time ago. Got bored as I had bought pretty much everything I wanted.

In late Summer '14, I started up a female character to play Online from a different perspective. It's been my primary character ever since then. Leveled back up to 170-ish and own everything I want again but have no intention of switching again. Gonna stick with this one from here on out.

I created two characters, so I could have one male, one female and have alternative garages full of different cars.

I've since retired my main (male) character as he has reached level 500 and I decided that was high enough, so I play exclusively as a girl now with a relatively low rank (145).

Will bring my main guy out of retirement if I ever decide to upgrade, or if I reach level 500 again.

Hail Sithis

When I played this on Ps3/PS4 I had at least 8 characters, ~4 of them at least rank 100

One of them was solely for griefing and I managed to make it into badsport after a few hours of playing

Had so many PSN IDs from playing CoD and getting bored after maxing out my prestige levels repeatedly

Now I only play on 2, sadly, I'm on PC and don't really wanna buy any more keys

Weird thing is, is this account wasn't even my main account (one I started playing GTAO with), it just happened to be the one that had the highest ranked characters

Back on the PS3 I created a male and female character. I transferred them to the PS4. I tried to level them up both at the same time. After both reached level 200, I gave up.

On the ps3 I got a load of air humpers and stalkers if I played as female. On the ps4 the creepy friend request are rare. I must say that I am semi-retired from heists. I do some heists to help some friends.

Two and a half year later I have grown attached to the characters, in the sence that I will not delete them.

I created a second account for training purposes and when I'm not playing with my friends.

It's funny playing in deathmatches with higher levels who think I must suck because I'm a lower level and play with a female character. But when they get their asses handed to them, oh boy, do they whine. They call me a hacker and a bunch of other vulgar names. "Get off the roof, bitch!" I don't even have to be on a roof to kill someone, and when I'm at their level and I kill them they still rage. It's pretty pathetic. The few times they get a kill on me it all goes to their fragile ego. It's just a game. Chill out.

Anger management and patience are keys, people.

When you start over on a new character, rank, K/D ratio, and character skills mean nothing. They devolve into indicators of how much value you place into things that only give you bragging rights which don't really have much to show in terms of skill. If you want to be skilled, you practice and train.

I made my second character back when we could only have 3 garages and all mine were full and I wanted some different cars. I mainly use my second character for daily objectives now I have made like $800,000 in just over 3 weeks doing DO with her.

Planning to set up a Second Account.... just as soon as I find/purchase a legit Key Code.

I have the retail version of the game, with all the installation DVD's and I have 2 separate PC's.

I have the game installed on both, but I want to use a separate account on the other PC....

On account number 5. The current one is about level 150 and is the highest I've been. Should ditch it soon. Many players seem far too attached. Two and a half years looking at the same character? No thanks.

Jerking For Soup

It's easier.

If you ranked up to very high ranks on your main like I did, and then played as a second, then you are almost guarenteed to destroy ranks 1 - 100 easily.

However, you have to rely on way more than a good trigger - finger and past experiences to get you a guarenteed win, you're going to have to focus on ranking up too, because the more you rank up, the more health, stamina, strength, accuracy you get, and then it'll be smooth sailing from there.

I have 8 accounts. Mostly because of bad sport, and for back up. And for garage space. I'm rich and ranked up decent on 5 of them. First started adding more accounts as backup in the dns days. Having multiple accounts has served me very well. Never fear badsport or being banned, and when I transfered over to ps4, the numbers worked in my favor because one of my accounts was lucky enough to be one of the ones that glitched during the transfer and gave me $7 billion. The chances of that happening if i had only one account would have been much lower. It is also fun starting from scratch, coming up with different names, and setting each account up slightly different from the others. Some rich, some poor, some with old save edited vehicles, all with a guy and a chick character on each. Most of my friends also have multiple accounts with funny names, guy and chick characters. One of my rich accounts is for my son to play on. We have 2 ps4 consols so we can play online together
