The Dedito Gae
I love old terror movies but i never gave this question much thought, i think mine is The Thing from John Carpenter, the monster is really nasty and his apparitions are nothing but unexpected, the theme of isolation and not being able to trust anyone around you is just downright creepy and the ending is more ambiguous than Inception's one. [Youtube] f*cking sinister masterpiece. So what's your favorite scary movie? TheGodDamnMaster
The Strangers. It scared the sh*t out of me when I first saw it because I was home alone at the time. It was scary mainly because the sh*t that happens to the characters in the movie could easily happen to anyone. Star-Lord
I really don't have a specific favorite scary movie tbh. But when I was younger I remember one certain film that scared the midi-clorians out of me. Back in the day this movie was some sick and twisted sh*t - by today's standards not so much. Couldn't find a decent youtube video of it. It had some funny parts like this one, but mostly were straight up gruesome and scary. The f*cked up radioactive bear with his 3 layers of teeth and his beadie eyes was the icing on the cake for me.
X S
That would certainly have to be the Shining. But Alien and Hellraiser are a close second. There's something about 70's and 80's horror flicks that just increase the creep level for me. Arachne
I liked the first one, all because of Shorty and the...OH, you meant an true scary movie! In that case, I would say that the very first Child's Play was great. Edited April 13, 2016 by Arachne
zuckmeslow
Jeepers Creepers it never truly scared me, but its still my favorite horror movie. great atmosphere, great special effects, a fantastic creature design, some good moments of suspense, and terrific characters. It never stops being entertaining no matter how many times i see it. and the creeper is just such a cool looking monster, The second one is also very good. less suspenseful and more action packed than the first one but still a great sequel. Dr. Robotnik
I'd say a "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" is right up there, even though I wouldn't call it a straight horror movie; I honestly think it's seriously underrated as a black comedy. Psychopathic characters are a dime a dozen in movies, but Henry is one of the few I find genuinely frightening. The scariest thing about him is that he isn't scary; he's not diabolical, physically powerful, or pseudo-philosophical like the Joker or Anton Chigurh. In fact, part of the time he honestly seems to be missing a few IQ points. It's Michael Rooker's combination of barely-repressed hostility and childlike sadism that I find so unnerving. It's like he's so stoically bull-headed and one-dimensionally angry that he wouldn't even acknowledge Hannibal Lecter, except maybe to smash his head in with a barbell for talking too much. Big Mike
That's a hard one. I like older 60s, 70s, and 80s horror movies like The Exorcist, It, The Blob, Nightmare On Elm Street, and Night of the Living Dead. My favorite at the moment would probably be It. https://youtu.be/PqqBpAqnGKg Edited April 15, 2016 by Big Mike Lock n' Stock, The Dedito Gae and Lonely-Martin

Jerking For Soup
TBH, nowadays I'm not scared of anything besides oversleeping, but, when I was younger I was scared of Stephen King's "It", The Exorcist and The Fly with Jeff Goldblum. shadowoperative
Oh and the first Nightmare on Elm Street. My dumbass sister let me watch it when I was 8. My bedroom faced a long hallway with a big window. My parents had a huge yard a long ways away from street lights and it was pitch black. I had so many nightmares about him watching me from that window then walking through it and killing me. paperbagdude
I don't watch horror that often so the only one I can think of is 'Sinister' from 2012. I remember watching it home alone together with a friend a few years back whilst dark. Some real scary sh*t happened and me and my friend just jumped off the couch and scremed into each others faces in horror and somewhat panic. Voodoo
I think "horror" would be a better title since "scary" is pretty subjective. I love horror but I'm rarely freaked out by it anymore. I like to appreciate horror films based on the originality of the concept, the atmosphere and the entertainment value. Some of my all time favorites are Evil Dead 2 for the awesome camera, humor and practical effects, Return of the Living Dead for the cheese and for the Tar Man - best zombie ever created, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the grindhouse atmosphere and that room full of feathers and bones among many other things, House of 1000 Corpses because f*ck you I just love it, the original SAW and the first Nightmare on Elm Street. I could list a bunch more but you get the idea. Jump scares and slasher stuff is OK but there's more to horror than just being scary. IDredMan
My favorite Scary Movie is Scary Movie 1. It's the only one of the 5 that has slightly decent jokes.
