lol. He was a big part of GTA and RDR but definitely not the "father", Sam/Dan Houser created and wrote the entire GTA/RDR universe. Without The Benz, there is still GTA. Without the Housers, there is no GTA at all.

I doubt that any of those three people you guys mention had very much at all to do with GTA V these days. I'm sure they gave the go ahead for the game and all that, but I doubt they put in the 16 hour days making it happen. I'm sure they did in the past, but once you reach a certain level, you just sit back and watch others do it... for awhile ... then you go play golf or jet off to Italy for an Italian lunch.

Just because some dev leaves a studio doesn't mean the game will suffer. Plus he was gone since GTA V launched on last gen.

 

You didn't get the whole picture.

 

He wasn't the only one that was fired from the company. Entire teams were fired without his permission while he was on sabbatical.

 

This IS the end for GTA, and tons of people see it that way aswell.

Things are making more sense now. I never knew about the inner workings of R* but a lot of the broken aspects in gtao is now starting to make sense to me of why it hasn't been fixed.

no kidding - i can't believe that people think this guy who is suing wrote all the code for GTA V ... like one man dev team One man could probably do it ... if he was a vampire that lived forever... It would probably take 100 years to create all the assets and write all the code for it all by yourself. I'm sure there were several teams of many people working on different aspects. I strongly suspect that there were a team of writers as well. Not just one guy. THose top guys that are suing each other run the company ... give the nod to ideas and head shake to others. .. nothing more these days.

Funny how people rant at the Houser brothers for being money whores, while if you took the time to read through the document, you'll come to the conclusion that it could just as well be The Benz who's in the wrong...

 

I'll leave it in the middle, but fact is The Benz left the company, and didn't have any rights towards royalties, unless decided otherwise by R*s president, which is SH.

The Benz put his signature under that agreement back in 2009, period.

Basically, Sam Houser (technically on R*'s behalf) and The Benz are going at it with lawsuits. This follows the resignation of the Benz, which after all may have been forceful if his point of view is correct.

You know, I grew up loving R*. They always kept themselves out of the papers over the years while EA and Activision battled it out for worst gaming company. Always about the money but not R*. For them it was making amazing games. I used to be a big R* fanboy, buying their newest game without a second thought or looking up gameplay/info on Youtube like I do for all other games I buy. While I'm sure I'll still do that in the future due to R*'s signature way of making games, I don't know if I'm a R* fanboy anymore. The Benz leaving is a huge force removed from the creative process of what makes R* games top of the line. I wonder how much it's gonna impact the next game as well if these lawsuits go anywhere.

would be nice if true, but unfortunately it isn't.

they won't use all (or a major part) of the profit for developing the next game.

 

basically it's nothing wrong to show gratefulness by buying a shark card if you feel that way and if it is only optional and not obligatory for playing.

but i think it is very bad for the future trend/development of the games genre if the companies are that successful with this tactics and earn that much extra money with it.

now they basically have no other choice then going this way more and more in the future to maximise their profits and not to abstain from this extra profit.

 

the only way to stop (or at least to reduce) this development/trend in the game industry is if the player base/community boycotts microtransactions completely to show their displeasure about this trend.

unfortunately this won't happen because there are always enough people who would buy themselves certain advantages above others (which is basically legal/legit cheating).

these people are mostly kids who don't think about any consequences and don't have to worry about their parent's money.

 

hopefully rockstar will keep these micro transactions optional in the future and not emphasize on this any further.

but i fear that this will not be the case anymore for very long because rockstar has to take their chance of making even more money out of this section or otherwise they would miss out on more profit.

He's been gone about a year, hell tbd Heist update happened while he was gone. Sounds like he pulled a Don Draper. His sabbatical began in 2014 and he tried to return in April of 2015! That's a long-ass time, and I don't anyone could leave a job for that long and expect to still have it waiting for them.
