I voted I didn't care, but if girlfriends make a return I would like to see them worked into the story a little bit. Have 5 girls or something that we could date and each have their own little mini stories and missions. It just needs to be more in depth than "Ooh Niko, I like the car"...

They were, the only problem is that after some dates they run out of stuff to say about them.

I'd always want girlfriends in GTA. It just adds a bit more depth and substance to the protagonist's lifestyle activities for a game grounded in realism. It wouldn't be realistic if he was f*cking prostitutes all the time. And it's a nice break from crime and violence. As long as it's optional and ties in with the gameplay, then of course yes.

This time, I want to take her back to my safehouse rather than always go back to hers.

I would personally like to have girlfriends/boyfriends in the next gta, if they won't think you dumped them for not talking to them for 5 minutes

Yeas, I would like to have girlfriend, but in same way as Michael and Amanda are, so no forced dating.

You have the girlfriend as part of the story of the character and thats it. No forced dating things like in IV and sa.

I don't think it's necessary. I didn't date the girl (forgot her name) in GTA IV other than that one time when its required, and in GTA SA I just killed that other girl you had to get the keycard from.

If it returns, then why not have Boyfriends in the Game as well, especially if one of the Protagonists is Female, or one Male Protagonist is Bi/Homosexual.

I think that would be an interesting exploration of that part of society.

If there is a female character it'll be interesting seeing her dating life. The asshole former jock, the overprotective guy, the possibilities.

Speaking of which, R* could parody Tinder.

No. Screw them.

That's the idea.

As with any new feature, or the addition of a previously existing feature from an older game, I'll only really get behind it if it adds something to the game, or deals with things in a fresh way. The girlfriends in IV were almost a story driven aspect, aside from seeking out other women online, but I found their perks to be less beneficial than that we saw in San Andreas where you were given exclusive vehicles, an outfit if you're a real lothario and even player boosts like being able to get your car fixed for free. Having said that, by the time you reach Michelle and woo her enough to use her garage for free, $100 shouldn't be so hard to come by that you'd consider driving halfway across the map just to get your car repaired.

The main issue I had with San Andreas was the amount of women available. It seems like an odd complaint, but you can have too much of a good thing and often these will dilute the features to the point you might not even care about the perk by the end of it when Denise has chewed your ears off about having three kids. Another complaint is the sheer amount of lip service whenever you're within a 2 mile radius of any given girlfriend's house. I don't remember how bad it was in IV but I have enough PTSD from Roman's sulking when you turn down the third bowling trip in a week.

Bottom line? Girlfriends (or boyfriends) are fine and welcome in my book, but turn the intensity down a little perhaps. I'm not playing Leisure Suit Larry.

No.

Dating girlfriends and other leisurely activities like going out with the friends for bowling, pool or for a drink, and even watching TV are the biggest boring crap that I absolutely despise about IV and V.

It wasn't so bad in SA where you could easily ignore these activities nor heavily influenced the other many great stuff the game used to offer like vehicle based missions, lots of street races, and tournaments, recruiting gangs, stadium events, properties and other fun side missions.

Unfortunately there are people that find it hard to ignore a bunch of minigames / dating and come off ungrateful for the larger portion of fun activities SA has to offer by calling it bullsh*t. But when the same boring minigames and socialising make a return in IV and V while sacrificing a whole lot of fun activities' and stuff you found in 3D games those idiots suddenly find these boring options to socialise with the friends and girlfriends interesting.

Such.. double standards

To sum it up, these girlfriends and socialising crap need to stay out of GTA, particularly when it comes to options available for the player to ignore them and instead focus on enjoying other classic GTA activities that sounds more interesting, and innovative, then both IV and V have miserably failed to keep up with their predecessors.

Not too fussed about the girlfriends, but I hope the friends are retained atleast.

It's good to know you can hang out with certain characters outside of cutscenes and get to know them better.

Yes. Having a nice additional feature for free roaming is nothing but good. R* can improvise and make this feature simple, yet in the same time complex (depends on player's choice) for more variety.

It's not an absolute The only time I really went with the whole girlfriends system was back with GTA: San Andreas due to the more notable perks. Besides those first Michelle outings, IV's girlfriends became a forgotten feature almost right away. So I don't see a need for them in future titles unless they're far more in-depth with a better variety of women that make it worth roaming around with, and a more extensive list of perks would help. If they are just there as optional content, then I'd prefer characters that have some morals rather than a wiki of stereotypes, even if it's just for "fun".

No, what's the point? Just make the protagonist married again if you want to give them some kind of life partner, problem solved.

1. If it's boring crap for you, that's fine. Ignore it, IV and especially V don't force you to take part in any of these events. Just like someone could find the triathlon in GTA SA to be a bore, it doesn't matter because no one is forcing you to take part of it (and I say this as a person who loves most of SA's activities). Dating girlfriends in SA works the same way in IV. The only time is IV you are even forced to go out with someone is "First Date". After that, you can completely ignore Michelle and Kate and you don't even have to date any of the internet girlfriends. In SA, you meet Denise and that's it, you aren't forced to date anyone. So I don't see what the problem is there?

Watching TV in both IV and V are optional as well. I understand if you're mad because they put features like that in instead of more traditional GTA activities but at the same time, girlfriends work the exact same way and everything else you mentioned is optional. Likewise, I dislike racing in general so it's always my least favorite thing to do in GTA games. Recruiting gangs, I found to be buggy and useless and properties were just disguised, useless R3 missions that were disappointing compared to VC.

2. Socializing in SA was a joke so I can understand how someone (like me) enjoys it a lot more in IV and V than in SA. The only socializing you can do in SA is with your girlfriends and all it is boring, short dialogue that adds nothing to the character of CJ or his girlfriends. On the flip side, IV and V offer much more detailed dialogue that is far more interesting than any of the sh*t in SA. In IV and V, you actually learn things about said characters and there are actually some interesting conversations. So I don't see how it's a double standard? It's simple, IV and V's socializing was great, SA's was a joke. I love socializing in IV and V.

i liked it and want to see it again. and like a lot of people said its optional. maybe have the one mission to introduce it and show it like gta 4. and the online dating was a fun side activity as you could learn more about niko and and his girlfriends. not to mention the extra bonuses you get for getting there like high. also some of the responses from people that denied you were funny.
