Do you want girlfriends in the next Grand Theft Auto?

Not many times, but in some Grand Theft Auto games girlfriends have been part of our main charachters social life. Remember Carl Johnson had a couple of girlfriends? Niko Bellic had Karen and Kate as girlfriends, Franklin had Tanisha Jackson and Michael had his wife Amanda. Even Luis Lopez have had numerous encounters with women! Would you like to see girlfriends back in the next Grand Theft Auto or would you like to see online dating like in Grand Theft Auto IV?

I wouldn't mind them, particularly if we could again get a large amount of varying dialogue with them like in IV. Depends on what kinda protagonist we get, I suppose.

 

By 'them' I specifically refer to full-fleshed girlfriends, not some booty calls that felt like they contributed nothing useful to gameplay.

I would've voted for a don't care option but since there's a yes and no option, I would like to have just as long they give you a gift when having a high enough like towards the character (So I voted yes).

I don't feel either way about it. It's just that dating makes for extra side content which makes the game more ropey and pulls the character in a whole other direction from the story. Take Denise for example. She was the only girlfriend necessary IMO and she was apart of the story.all of carls other girls were uneccesary and made for unnecessary time consuming side content. Same can be said about Niko but I'd rather have any other girl other than Michelle/Karen as a date.

I think cutting it down to booty calls and prostitution services was a good call from rockstar. Besides Liz and ursulaare technically girlfriends in a sense well more like f*ck buddies since you don't date them you just go to their houses and screw which works just fine for me.

Well, my post was made with the hopeful assumption in mind that Rockstar wouldn't purposefully make so many of their characters act like assholes 95% of the time for satire's sake.

Nah we don't need that there were times i wished those chicks would just stfu especially carmenBesides some especific girlfriends that contributed to the storyline(Denise, Millie, Kate and Karen/Michelle) at very specific times, all other forms of dating where optional.

 

In SA once I got Denise's number I never bothered with her, eventually her like bar reached zero and she called me to take her out(I knew she would break up), I didn't even bothered in showing and she didn't call again, and I also killed Millie to get the Caligula's security card.

 

I went an entire save without dating Kate not even once, dated Michelle only in that mission and never again.

 

What I'm trying to say is that dating was entirely optional, and players bitched about it without any need of doing so.

I don't care. As long as they aren't required for 100%, I'm fine with it. And I'm guessing they won't be required as they were not in SA and IV either.

I don't care TBH. Girlfriends are cool, but if they are like Michelle in GTA IV where you have to date them, then no. I prefer Girlfriends to make sense among the rest of the story.

 

Sorry GTA IV fans, Michelle/Karen was a f*cking whore, and to make Niko date a Stalker he met Online after he nearly got busted by an undercover "Girlfriend" doesn't make sense.

Don't mind either way. They were interesting in SA and IV, but not something I put time into past getting the rewards. Maintaining them is a pain once you've done it. I really didn't miss it in V at all. If it's something I can ignore after getting the reward, if there is one, then I'm happy to have them added.

I voted no at first, but changed it to dont care when I read the op I dont mind girlfirends as long as it isnt relationships that needs to be maintained as they where in IV and San Andreas. I didnt mind the side missions, but keeping them happy over time is just a hassle. V did it in a way I liked it.

I'll echo that. I enjoyed the reward element of GF's in San Andreas. I admittedly didn't pursue the rewards in IV. I'd really like to see them again as it was a nice surprise and if the rewards are useful and unique, then I'm game.

Anyway I don't think girlfriends are needed, not if they aren't plot relevant. Kate and Michelle from IV were fine and going out with them fleshed out their characters. The others were just boring and unnecessary imho.

 

In GTA V, going out with Amanda was fine too and expanded on their relationship, wish Tanisha was an option for Franklin so that his character wasn't so bland.

Yeah especially true when you go to the strip club in IV or V where its all more realistic etc.
