What type of character would you like to see?

About the characteristics. I would like to see someone who knows what he or she is doing. Someone who is independent and can choose very wisely for him or herself. Ambitious and maybe a little bit sarcastic at the time. And the appearance? It all depends on the gender of the charachter, if our charachter will be a man, the appearance doesn't really matter. Just not someone like Lester, but it doesn't really matter if the charachter has a big scar on his cheek for example, but with female charachters, I would like to see a charachter with a clear skin and maybe someone with a background story like Elizabeta Torres. Growing up in a poor family and becoming a big time drug dealer or weapons trafficker.

Official General

A more Spaniard-looking Hispanic male in late 20s, a former Spanish Lord gang member from East Holland in Liberty City, no siblings, no wife, children, father died many years ago. He has a criminal history of small time drug-dealing on ghetto street corners. Recently on probation and spared jail for minor drug offences, but now with no job, and in living housing project with just his mother, struggling to make ends meet. Gets tired of the concrete jungles of cold LC, and decided he needs a change of scenery to place offering more opportunity and a better lifestyle - Vice City. Even better, he has family down there, as he's half Cuban. Goes to VC with legitimate intentions, but ends up being lured or dragged back into a world of organised crime, drugs and gangs, with ultimate aim of attain riches.

Still thinking in the three-protag style:

Late 20's, early 30's male car thief/mechanic. Doesn't really matter where he's from or what colour he is, that's the sort of gig anyone can get. Fairly slim build but big enough to put weight behind his punches. Could alternate between overalls and generally low-key but fashionable clothing. Not a suit kind of guy. Our boy wants to set up his own garage but has a gambling addiction, so he's struggling to keep enough cash around for long enough to set up his own business. While not a member of a gang as such, he has plenty of shady connections from his car stealing escapades and can call on a few reliable heavies when he needs back up. As a result of his work at a local garage, he has the ability to repair his car for free, and is a naturally gifted driver. His mechanic skills could also be extended to give him the ability to mod for free, or even come up with his own mods in some way.

Mid 40's white male dirty cop. Whatever you're seeing in your head right now after reading that short description is probably close to what I have in mine. He wears most of a suit, or what used to be a suit, his hair is a mess, and he reeks of cheap cigarettes and even cheaper Scotch. Our man is currently under surveillance from the Internal Affairs department for his involvement in local crime activity, wherein he has become involved with not only the local mob, but also connections to the Triads and Yakuza. He needs a way out. The Cop doesn't gain stars as quickly as the other protags.

Late 30's stripper/hooker. She's... warm - as in, she used to be hot. Now, she just looks tired. She has ambitions to rob the strip club and escape the life, and is just waiting for the right time to move. This poor woman has been passed around by the Russians, the Armenians and the Albanians, and is well known throughout those mobs as a good time gal. She's owed many, many favours. The Hooker would be more useful for stealth and not so good at driving or shooting, because that's the cookie cutter bullsh*t that female characters always get dumped with.

Edit:

in my GTA VI, the stories are far less intertwined and cross over much less frequently, but would all culminate in some sort of three-protag ending, potentially with them all set against each other, rather than being united for a heist or whatever - in way, similar to what IV did, but in a much more refined way, While the stories wouldn't be as linked as V, there would be more crossover than IV.

I suppose the end strand would be the activities of each protag overlapping and each attempting to end the situation in their way, but in a way that necessitates the use of the switching mechanic some how - where the user has no choice but to switch.

Somewhat reminds me of max payne, which makes me think, that somehow perhaps max payne/max payne inspired protag could be introduced

Here´s my character concept:

A young biker in his mid to late 20s from a small town near Vice City which is also featured on the map,but at the time story takes place (in the late 80s) lives in Vice City.Owns a Daemon chopper bike that his father left him after he got too old for riding, and a classic Tampa muscle car that he bought as a beater and restored to original condition.Likes rock and metal music and usually dresses as somewhat of a stereotypical metalhead (leather jacket, rock band t-shirts, long hair...),combined with some casual clothing and biker gear. His default appearance looks something like this (but with longer hair and longer beard, and has some tattoos visible when not wearing a jacket):

DNdUnlhYIUavZO7wVasvKg_0_0.jpg

AJqiFUuh_UWwnb-73sO94A_0_0.jpg

UrR_03VGAEuCBk1XNkshew_0_0.jpg

(appearance is customizable by the player)

Comes from a poor and screwed up family, his father is a former soldier with PTSD and an alcoholic, and his mother is a college dropout with a sh*tty job.He also dropped out of college and currently has a legal job as a mechanic, but has been involved in small time crime such as weed dealing, theft, small time robbery, street racing...since he was a teen.Has kind of cynical personality and doesn´t have much trust for people he just met,but is very loyal to his friends. He spends his free time riding his bike, listening to rock music, hanging out with his friends, and sometimes watching TV or playing video games on his Degenetron console. He sometimes smokes weed, but he doesn´t like hard drugs,he believes they would screw up his head.At first he´s a lone wolf biker, but thinks joining a motorcycle club would get him a better family than the one he had when he was growing up,and later in the second quarter of the story ends up joining a 1%er biker gang.

2 doods:

Ex-cop protagonist going rogue to take down a gang the other protagonist is working through the ranks of. Ex-cop could have his family or someone close to him killed, filling him with the desire for vengeance. The gangster could be a Johnny-esque character, smart and loyal, but has problems with the higher ups. The ex-cop could be blackmailed at one point by a corrupt cop, but gets out of it when he infiltrates either gang who wronged him or their rival gang. That gang could end up killing that corrupt cop, making the ex-cop past the point of no return. Paths cross and eventually lead to a huge shootout toward the end of the story (a la Fargooooo S2), leaving most of the gangster's gang dead, not including the boss. Boss thinks gangster set them up, perhaps the two protagonists work together in an uneasy relationship to take the rest of gang down, or maybe the finale could be them hunting each other down.

This so much, we need a crooked cop protag so bad, imagine being able to "borrow" cars legally and wash off a single star wanted level by brandishing your badge.

And the vigilante mode would make sense.

And the vigilante mode would make sense.

Exactly. Giving actual narrative justification for activities, or even some sort of character "career" motivation for these sort of things has to be better than "Career criminal gets into a police car and gets paid $200 by... no one... to catch criminals just like him... for fun!"

As fun as those missions were in the past, it just never made any sense. That's always been a problem in the III era games - you end up doing all kinds of whacky sh*t and it makes absolutely no sense for the person to be doing them.

Here's a brief extract from Carl "CJ" Johnson's diary:

"Dear Diary,

Woke up feeling pretty great today. Another day in the hood, yo! Gonna swing round to see Ryder later today, see why that ni- is always digging in his yard. Keeps me awake at night, all those shovel sounds. Anyways, first thing I thought when I woke up this morning was 'wish I was a fireman!'. So I'ma go out and get myself a fire-truck and spend the day fighting fires... I'm not even qualified but damn, those suspenders and giant pants are pretty cool. After that, I think I might grab myself a deluxe at the Burger Shot, then hit the gym for a bit. Gotta keep myself in shape for the ladies!

Missing Mom real bad today, though. Damn man, if I ever find that Green Sabre, someone is getting hurt. Sometimes, diary, I think you're the only one that understands me."

Right?

Or Tommy Vercetti... wakes up and decides he wants to drive an ambulance? Just senseless.

3 playable story characters.STORY SET IN LONDON OR THE UK.OR HELL,MAYBE EVEN THE USA(these characters could be in Vice city for all we know)

1)Jason Statham type criminal(come on,you get it)

2)Idris Elba in Takers type guy (Takers.Yes I'm serious.Basically,African British version of Michael with a less annoying family.Sound good?OF course!)

3)The third guy would be....THE ANTAGONIST!*DUN DUN DUN*.He would be a super high ranking elite agent.

He would be like a Hitman agent 47 type guy...but with a more cocky, charismatic badass personality(think Dwyane The Rock Johnson fused with Agent 47).He'd try to track down the other two guys over the course of the story.

Endings would be different depending on your choices during the game. Some choices will lead to Antagonist(third playable character)"winning" but with terrible terrible terrible stuff for the criminals..Other choices lead to positive outcomes for the criminals but horrible and sad stuff for the Hitman guy(think killing Michael level of sad)

True ending would be :Agent guy and criminals cut a deal and do some epic gta action for a final mission and all three guys go off into the sunset.Agent guy getting glory and stuff. Criminals getting money and freedom.BAM!GTA 6!PLEASE!

Ha ! To do what exactly ? Still harbour dreams of fighting and murdering their way to the top of criminal underworld chain, to become rich, powerful mob bosses when they should be drawing a nice pension ? Or to still be doing drive-bys and running about in the streets bustin'' a cap on some fools over turf and street-level beef when they can barely shake their fists and need a cane to walk a few yards to the store ? They should spending all day sitting on the porch chillin', complaining, and sleeping like old people do. Come a GTA protagonist needs impetus, being that old would not provide that.

Michael was supposed to be reference, but i didnt really get that feel. Michael's special ability was kinda like bullet time, but without the diving all over the place. If only R* could've paired his ability it with the flop function

Jerking For Soup

I'd like to see a wise Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption character, a Newbie young character trying to make it big, and a female character whether it be his sister, girlfriend, Cousin's Roommate, etc.

This not only will mean an end to unoriginality in GTA Protags, it would get rid of the "All Male Characters" block that has been discussed numerous times in the past.

Picture this, a 40 - Year Old Male African American Heist member is laying low after faking his death for a few decades, meanwhile, a Caucasian male who is trying to get into the Heist department meets up with him after quitting his job as a Detective who was obsessed with that particular case, and a 20 Year Old female hippie wants to join in on the action (No Homo).

Genius.

Maybe a man in his twenties with a poor, gang riddled upbringing (maybe Cuban or Haitian? Just going off of VC here) who desperately needs money. He gets involved with the mafia, (similar to GTA IV's story)

Totallycasual

I want a character that has been utterly destroyed, they have had everything taken from them and have absolutely nothing to lose. I then want them to go on a trail of revenge killing their way to the top while rebuilding their wealth/life at the same time. Everyone loves a good revenge story :)

I would also rather that they weren't a bad person to begin with, i want whatever catastrophic event caused them to lose everything to be the catalyst for change.

Example: Husband or wife loses their spouse and children in a collateral damage type situation and is denied justice through the courts, makes it their mission in life to kill the people responsible and has to learn to harden the f*ck up along the way.

I like the corrupt police officer idea, I've thought about this before.

Only thing with that idea is there would be times where it wouldn't make sense. Going on a rampage as a corrupt cop, getting busted and then being let out again as a cop wouldn't make sense IMO.

I think the cop angle would work but only if it was an undercover cop from another city.

Undercover cops couldn't go on a rampage.I've heard they can only do crime if it would keep their cover from being blown, and even then just minor stuff, not killing people. The only way I can see them doing a cop protagonist is if it's a former cop turned criminal.
