GTA Online: Red Light, Green Light Update

The street racing scene in Los Santos has been very active, but so far you've only seen a tiny fraction of that. Here you will experience the thrill of being behind the wheel of a dangerous street race. The cops may also be involved.

New characters and website

Two new characters and a website are introduced in this update.

Hiromi Nagano

Nagano is a 26-year-old street racer and car worker. Originally hailing from Yokohama, Japan; she's been a resident of Los Santos since the age of 15. She owns a shop called the Dangerous Autos. Her shop has been under scrutiny by the Ballas, who want the money she's made from her business for "protection". That's where you come in. She needs you to stick it to the Ballas. Outside of that, she could use a skilled representative in the underground street racing circuit to earn her more money and rep. You can use her services to customize your vehicles.

She's brash, over-confident, and can come off as a bitch to those who don't know her. But she's also extremely dedicated to her job, and never fails to reward people for their efforts (and maybe even thank them too). She's a massive electronic music enthusiast, constantly blasting Bass Junkie in her garage and cars. God help any who tries to change it.

Danny Justin

Danny is a close associate of Nagano. He's a young man who can seem a bit cocky, but is a fairly skilled racer, having won multiple races for Nagano before. He's frequently found at the Crash Club, where he often hangs out (usually chatting up women and acting like a hot shot). He gives you missions to help make him a bigger name in the street racing syndicate. Later he gets in trouble with Ballas and needs your help to bail him out. While not the most respected name by a long shot, he has some connections. Once you're acquainted with him, you call him to have a quick getaway vehicle sent to you in a flash.

dangerousautos.com

Dangerous Autos is the service that Nagano personally owns. You can purchase import vehicles, and have them shipped to you. She's got the hottest stuff that the competition doesn't have (and some crappy things that they don't bother having).

New locations

Dangerous Autos

The auto-store owned by Nagano, located at the heart of the city. Here you can sell vehicles, and customize your car. There's also special customization options for Japanese imports, specifically the kind she sells. She can turn a normal looking import to a decked-out street racer that fit to impress, for the right price.

Crash Club

An underground club located in a thought-to-be-closed down building. It's frequented by street racers, and you can get in once Danny teaches you the secret hand-signal to allow access. Here you can hang out with the various lowlifes of LS, drink alcohol, play darts, and watch TV. You can also dance with girls on the floor, and be invited for some "alone time" if you get a high enough score. Be warned though, some people there might be a little high. The tunes from Bass Junkie play constantly, so you better get used to it.

Outside of that, this place will be your hub for street racing action. You will be able to race NPCs or other players, bet on races you see on the TV, and engage in missions separate from the ones found on your phone. There is no other place better for finding races, unless you want to do kids stuff.

New online modes

This update gives you several new, race-centric modes that will push your skill to the limits. Be warned, there's no hand-holding here -- meaning no catch-up. Are you a bad enough dude to compete in these races?

Hot Pursuit

This one should be interesting. This is a versus mode, where the racers try to beat each other to the finish. But they also have to contend with other players, who are going as Los Santos' finest. The goal for the racers is to make it to the finish line in time, while evading the cops who are trying to ram them off the road. No weapons here, the cops will have to use their driving skills to take down the racers. Once a racer is busted, they are out of the race permanently. However, should a racer managed to take down a cop, they'll be out too.

Hardcore GTA Race

GTA Race the way it should've been all along. GTA doesn't have power-ups or catch-up, so neither should GTA Race. Here you'll have to use your wit and guns to battle the other players as you make it to the finish. Also, a necessary time limit is place to make sure the race doesn't devolve into impromptu death matches.

Triathlon

Not the boring kind found in single player. This kind is a three way race. First you start off sky-diving from the heavens above. Once you make your way down, you will then race powerboats to the next checkpoint. There, you will race to the finish in supercars. May the best man win.

Pink Slip Races

Feeling lucky? Risk it all in a pink slip race with another player. See who has the better car, and better driving ability. The winner gets the losers car, and the loser will be walking home.

Missions

Once you're introduced to Nagano and Danny, they'll have tasks for you to complete. After getting in trouble with the Ballas, you'll be needed to help "clear things up", if you know what I mean. There are fifteen new missions in the game, eight by Nagano and seven by Danny.

New radio station
