What weapons would you like to see in the next GTA game?

-knuckleduster

-baseball bat

-crowbar

-hammer

-chain (could be used to beat people up or to strangle them from behind as a stealth attack)

-nightstick

-pool cue

-knife

-switchblade or butterfly knife

-machete

-hatchet

-chainsaw (would be cool even without gore)

-katana (also would be cool even without gore)

Longer range melee weapons (nightstick, baseball bat, pool cue, hatchet, hammer, crowbar, machete, chain and katana) could be used from a motorcycle

 

Handguns

-pistol (Beretta 92)

-compact pistol (Walther PPK)

-heavy pistol (Colt M1911)

-automatic pistol (Glock 18)

-revolver (Smith & Wesson Model 10)

-heavy revolver (Colt Python)

-stun gun

-flare gun

All handguns could be used from cars and motorcycles.Player could choose a shooting style,either normal, cowboy-style shooting from a hip, gangsta-style holding a gun sideways, or dual wielding (either two of the same guns,or two different guns)

 

Submachine guns

-SMG (MP5)

-micro SMG (Micro Uzi or MAC 10)

-machine pistol (TEC 9)

-mini SMG (Škorpion SMG)

-gussenberg sweeper (Tommy gun)

-luxury SMG (golden Uzi from TBOGT)

All SMGs could be used from a motorcycle,smaller ones (micro SMG, mini SMG and machine pistol) could also be used from a car

 

Shotguns

-pump action shotgun (Remington 870 with a wooden stock)

-combat shotgun (SPAS 12)

-automatic shotgun (AA12)

-sawed off double barrel shotgun (either from TLAD or GTA 5,could be used from a motorcycle)

All shotguns would have the ability to choose between buckshot, slugs or explosive rounds for each of them

 

Assault rifles

-assault rifle (AK47 from GTA 4)

-carbine (M4A1)

-special carbine (G36C)

-bullpup rifle (FAMAS)

-compact rifle (short AK from GTA 5,could be used from a motorcycle)

 

Sniper rifles

-sniper rifle (same as in GTA 4,don't know the model)

-heavy sniper (Barrett M82)

-marksman rifle (either same as in GTA 5 or maybe M14)

-crossbow (regular hunting crossbow with a scope,completely silent for stealth)

 

Heavy weapons

-LMG (M249 Para)

-MG (M60)

-minigun

-compact grenade launcher

-RPG

-homing launcher

-flamethrower

 

Thrown weapons

-grenades

-sticky bombs

-proximity mines

-pipe bombs

-molotovs

-throwing knives (could be used like in Assassin's Creed Syndicate)

 

Melee weapons could be bought in sports equipment stores (baseball bat and pool cue), hardware stores (hammer, hatchet, crowbar, chain, and chainsaw) and Ammunation (knuckleduster, nightstick, knife, switchblade/butterfly knife, machete, katana, and also throwing knives).Most firearms could be bought at Ammunation,except heavy weapons and thrown weapons (other than throwing knives),which would be available at underground gun shops like those from GTA 4.

I want to see less weapons than in GTAV. I feel like a good chunk of the weapons in each category are similar to each other in function. In the 3D GTAs you had maybe 2 or 3 weapons in each category but in V you have like 5 or 6 SMGs that mostly work the same.

Exactly

 

The GTA III Trilogy and particularly GTA IV have done a great job at this.

Just in GTA IV, the only weapons we had where these :


Melee :

- Fist

- Knife

- Baseball Bat

 

Handgun :

- Pistol

- Desert Eagle

 

Shotguns :

- Pump Shotgun

- Combat Shotgun

 

Submachine Guns :

- Micro SMG

- SMG

 

Assault Rifles :

- AK-47

- M4

 

Sniper Rifles :

- Sniper Rifle

- Combat Sniper Rifle

 

Heavy Weapons :

- Rocket Launcher

 

Throwable Weapons :

- Molotov Cocktail

- Grenades

 

San Andreas had a few more weapons then GTA IV, but it was still at a very reasonable number

Like @ThanksDoktor said the the variety of weapons in GTA V is feels like a texture replacement, every weapon function the same to the other weapons in the same category (except for some), I can't feel how unique and powerful the weapon is from the others (in the same category).

A bit off-topic, but I would like to see more hidden weapons like they used to do it in the 3D era, also, something unrealistic, but fun is the colored bubble that surround the weapon which gives it a sense of how powerful it's and what type it's, like in VC.

It may be an unpopular opinion,but I personally like having several different weapons with similar function and performance.While Glock 17 and Beretta 92, Uzi and MP5, or M4 and G36 would probably feel pretty much the same in gameplay,it would give us an option to choose weapons based not only on performance but also visual preference.It would also be more realistic,because not every armed NPC would be carrying the same pistol,in a shootout some gangsters would pull out Glocks,others would have Berettas,others would have M1911,some would even have revolvers,younger cops would carry pistols,while old cops that joined police before the 90s and maybe small town cops would still be carrying revolvers,etc.

Well, GTA V actually have realistic silencers, because they don’t actually silence the sound that much, they are also actually called a suppressor and are basically an object of confort that lower the recoil and able you to shoot without having to wear ear protection.

 

If we take an assault rifle which generally make a sound of 150 decibels, well adding a suppressor only lower the sound by 40 decibels.

So yes, a gun with a suppressor is actually louder then a chainsaw...  

 

But I get that peoples in games wants to have weapons that don’t make a sound when shoot with, so I guess Rockstar will have to say bye to suppressors and actually do silencers

I like the idea of this, would add more varied weapons to the world, maybe give them custom skins too, so that say, if a gang member dropped a gun, it would have a skin that matches their gang.

I think the selection of weapons in the Ammunation in V was pretty decent. Weapon customization was basic but still welcomed. I'd like to see different calibres and ammo types, like 7.62 and 5.56 for rifles and 9mm, .40, and .45 for pistols. I know it's implied when weapons in the same category have very different stats, such as the heavy pistol and sns pistol but I'd like that level of detail, not super in depth but something similar to Fallout NV would be great.

 

I'd also like to see one off weapons not found in Ammunation, picked up from enemies or in smaller gunshops. They would probably be similar in stats to regular bought weapons, just a skin change and some minor performance changes but it would add to the immersion, enemies not having just a selection of 2 rifles, smgs and pistols.

I wish that in the next GTA game, guns have actual names instead of generic ones like "Pistol" or "Assault Rifle".

 

I mean, if we went from cars having generic names to having actual car manufactures and lore about them, why not guns can have the same thing too?

 

Also, it would be cool if weapon customization had some sort of strategy, in both GTA V and RDR2, you just put all attachments available to a gun and call it a day.

 

I'm not calling for a feature like Gunsmith from Modern Warfare, but, for example, things like silencers or drum magazines should have a penalty associated to them in order to balance its pros.

I do not care about the amount of similar weapons in the game, I do care about storage options.

 

I want to have the option to discard all weapons in my weapon wheel.

 

Also I dont want to see weapons auto-pickup EVER again, because I'm constantly having to remove pistols and SMGs from my inventory wheel in Online, since those gets in the way of my AP Pistol and Revolver while I'm driving.

 

They had this perfected in Max Payne 3 along with the shooting mechanics, I don't understand the massive step backwards they did in V in that regard.

You know I'd like to see realistic weapons in the next GTA and I don't mean just realistic graphics.

 

But details and effects that may benefit or disadvantage you.

 

Examples of realistic weapons are Far cry 2 and mafia 1.

 

The first one with the jamming and disarming of a weapon as a result of excessive use and bad maintenance.

 

The second one is because of that setback that certain weapons of the game produce like the Thompson to give an example.

Although you only have a limited selection - the weapons in TLOU2 are done really well. The amount of detail on them is insane, especially after upgrading them and adding new parts - they're just really satisfying to look at. I really hope they put a huge focus on guns and weapons in VI and make them something more than just a 3D object used to get rid of NPC's.

Not really talking about specific weapons (I made that list of weapons I'd like at the top of this page),but rather their versions.I don't wanna see tacticool versions of popular guns being stock versions like in GTA 5,such as AK with plastic grips and stock, M1911 with a red dot sight that can't be removed, most post-WW2 guns having picatinny rails that can't be removed and similar stuff.I'd prefer more classic looking versions of those guns,with all that tacticool special forces-wannabe stuff being optional.
