Okay, let's talk cars...

So VI probably won't be here until 2020 or something like that, who knows. By then we might have new consoles. Now this raises a question for me as someone who can never shut his damn mouth about cars. Is it time for them to throw a new level of depth into their cars?

I'm talking unique interiors for most cars, humongous amounts of customization, ways to adjust handling more, no missing details or poor textures. Just, give cars more life?

In my eyes, Rockstar could get away with relatively slap job cars in the III-era. I mean they were fun and fit the game and the graphics at the time. Then IV came and it brought some improvements, pretty revolutionary for unlicensed fake cars in video games if you ask me. But when V came out, the graphics increased and so did the level of detail. But the cars didn't. If anything, they stayed at IV's level aside from the addition of proper customization. In all honesty, it kind of dipped below IV's level because there are a huge amount of cut n paste interiors as well as poor textures on the grills, missing badges, and plastic paint textures. Even on current-gen. And personally, I feel like they went back to III and focused less on making every car unique to itself.

That simply doesn't cut it anymore. I feel like VI needs to change this. They need to get on the ball with the cars and make sure they match the high quality environments around them because right now I feel like they don't. V is funny, there are some cars that feel and look like quality while others look so fake or under developed.

Your thoughts?

I'm a car guy and fully agree with this wishlist post... But for me this is my last Rockstar game I'll ever purchase. They suck as a whole, and even though the concept of gta5 was great, it still stings a bit knowing that potential is here but it simply lacks execution. I honestly feel like the game was released as an unfinished product, and it still lacks completion.

I play the game less frequently each week and now simply use it as a sandbox to play around in while I'm socializing with my buds.

Problem is there isn't any games on the market that offer the open play style gaming that gta5 offers so we're stuck and being sucked in.

I have to agree about interiors. In V, it's pretty annoying to see the same interior in circa 10 different cars, produced by different brands. Also, R* needs to put a proper interior for a proper car. It's bugging me, when I see the Surfer has the 1990s/early 2000s-looking interior, even though the Surfer is a 1960s van.

I need to agree with the level of detail too. Most of the vehicles that were introduced in V miss a lot of details, like badging. Also, some of them don't have license plates or reversing light(s).

How about my needs? I think that Rockstar should pay less attention on high-end cars, and focus on low/mid-end cars. GTA V (Online, to be specific) introduced a lot of new sports/super/luxury cars. I think it's enough of them and there's no need to add more high-end vehicles.

I have to agree on whatever the previous posters said, but I should add my own opinion.

IV's vehicles lists are near-perfect to me. The amount of supercars in the game isn't too abundant (unlike V) and there are lots of everyday cars that you always encounter on real-life. The only thing missing in IV is a proper lineup of compact cars. Only 70's and 80's compacts are introduced in IV (Blista Compact, Rhapsody, and Uranus), and that leaves a huge gap for modern compact cars. V fixed that by introducing the Blista, Panto, and Issi, but no 90's compacts are introduced in the game.

The other thing that R* f*cked up badly is the branding of each car. Many of them aren't even correct to the real-life cars they're based on (Bravado Minivan, Vapid Speedo, and Bravado Verlierer for example) and for a game that wants to parodying real life while trying to make GTA world a near-exact same of the world they based on, they failed miserably on that part.

I wish in GTA VI, R* decided to merge all the IV and V vehicles (maybe update some of them in the process), re-brand most of them, and add some new cars to balance thing up. Apparently, I have a full notepad list for all the possible cars in the next GTA. But that's for another time. If you want a peek, just PM me.

1. FTFY.

2. This. The Warrener is one of the best examples of what you're thinking about.

>make a car that clearly resembles an old Skyline

>add the Grachan-themed tuning parts

>consider this car Swedish and give it the Vulcar brand

I also hate when a car that was manufactured by one brand in one game, but in another game (from THE SAME universe) this same car changes its looks and is manufactured by another brand. I am looking at you, Virgo and Huntley. I hope R* will fix this issue in GTA VI.

I'd like to see multiple customization shops, each one catering to a different style. For example, one for stance, one for circuit/time attack, one for drift, etc.

Personally, I like some of the artistic license taken with the cars, it gives it a bit of flair. Plus, it means that, for example, just because they have the Stallion doesn't mean they have to make a Stallion based on the Mustang II.

Personally I just want more classic cars, less parodies of mainstream overrated garbage.

V introduced several parodies of classic cars like the Miura, Corvette Stingray, Shelby Cobra, Corvette C1, Ferrari 250 GTO and others. That was a good move. Some people just can't think outside of the box when it comes to supercars.

Of course, like unbid says, also put effort in everyday cars you see in traffic, from all recent decades. And don't screw up the badging anymore like they did in both IV and V.

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

I wished they spent more time making better looking PPV/EV's, and gave them proper and consistent Liveries.

I agree, I would also love to see more vehicles like the Willard. And I guess I would like to see more low end vehicles. :)

I completely agree with everything you guys said & I hope R* fix this in VI.

The thing is, V is a legacy game & got held back by the hardware limitations of previous gen consoles. The level of details of the country\ocean is amazing, The Dynamic weather...etc all pushed the consoles to its limits, so something had to give ... Unfortunately it was our beloved cars.

Yes, they "remastered" V & released it on current gen consoles ... But if it wasn't for the new music & animals they added I would've said they spent as much time remastering it as they did remastering the 10th anniversary games for mobile.

Well, I keep thinking back to GTA London. Those of you who aren't old enough to have played London, let me give you a little idea of the cars.

GTA 1 had some fast cars, and a lot of average cars. GTA 2 had more fast cars, and lots of mid range cars. London went completely the other way and just painted a whole bunch of snails to look like cars.

I always use this as comparison when thinking about how they're doing with the cars today.

I know the times are a lot more advanced now, and they should be superior, but hey, at least they won't do another London.

I agree completely. It's a bit awkward seeing the Vapid Stainer sharing an interior with the Bravado Buffalo... they're completely different brands. In fact, these aren't the only two cars that share this specific interior. I could probably name 10+ others.

I agree with this to the fullest, but Rockstar just doesn't see it to be too important, so I'm expecting to just get reused car interiors again, maybe even interiors from V :/

Any new cars introduced in VI will have unique and new interiors. As for the cars returning from V, I think it's good to have them feature higher quality interiors of IV and last gen GTA V.

Regarding the Stanier, I'd like to see the name Ret-Conned to call it the 'Vapid Crown Elizabeth (PI)' instead (PPV Version in Brackets). Also, any Vehicles with the FIB Prefix to be labelled as "Unmarked" instead.

Honestly, I don't care which cars they are going to replicate. As long as they remember the rule of quality over quantity. Unique interior for each manufacturer (and car), and no half-assed stuff like 2D grilles.

Goddamnit, I'm laughing at the last bit.

I never played London before, but I played GTA 1 and 2. I always felt that 1 and 2 does have some sort of balance because of specific cars spawned in specific region (think of it like the traffic in Driver 2 and Driv3r), but if you lists them all into one big list, you'll ended up with as many sports car as the regular ones.

As for unique interiors, I do agree that V car interiors are repetitive and doesn't make any sense (e.g. Obey Tailgater shared the same interior with the Declasse Asea). I do agree that there need to have some sort of diversification for it, but some cars do share similar interiors with other cars IRL.

I don't know about you guys, but I favor quality over quantity, always.

In V and IV, we got over 200 vehicles easily, but like 10 or 11 types of closed interiors for these vehicles, innacurate brands, lack of detail(lack of reverse lights, license plates and blinkers), innacurate performance on most of vehicles(18-wheelers and smaller trucks and being able to reach about 160 KM/H and 0-100 under 20 seconds while hauling full load, supercars not being able to reach 300 KM/H, brakes that can stop 200-0 under two seconds and 100 meters on average daily drivers) and questionable design cues, but that last one is subjective.

I would happily welcome the idea of trimming down the quantity to 100 vehicles if that would mean we could get more quality.

EDIT: That's the main reason why I ditched the Gran Turismo series, they always aimed for quantity ever since the first game and with 5 and 6 that reach beyond the ridiculous with those "premiums" and "standard" cars with PS2 textures.

This. It is so stupid how many normal cars were ditched from GTA IV and instead on Los Santos you see only high-end SUVs and sports cars. On the other hand on the desert villages you see only rusty crappy cars or same looking pickups, the variety of cars you see is so narrow. They should add a lot of normal cars from all decades driving around the city, of course rare cars to be seen more rarely etc. Plus the driving physics and collision system must be re-done.

Basically we need more sh*tty cars, but not sh*t if you know what I mean.

So cars that are average in real life, but done well.

Also unique interiors for cars. Seriously, that's my biggest bugbear over V.

And finally, a proper driving system that allows us to reach real speeds, and for bonus brownie points, manual gearbox.

I hate these GTA V's unrealistic supercars(Vacca,Adder,Iv's Turismo,Infernus,Comet,Bullet are the only i really like),things like Dubsta 6X6..I mean, that's not Saints Row.

Would be great to see old cars like caddys/buick/lincoln's etc, normal cars(why not a Corolla? a Accord? a Focus?),European cars(Golf,5 series,C-class,A8..)hybrids and eletrics,truck's(Tundra,Ranger,Colorado),compacts...normal cars like GTA IV. But with the option of costumization in general like engine swap(not only crappy paintjobs or crazy horn's).

Yeah, I hate them too. Or some other cars in GTA which in real life are seen rarely on US, but are a common sight in GTA V, like the Injection (Volkswagen Buggy) or the Pigalle (Citroen SM).

Sir Michael

I also want to add this. We rarely break 150 MPH, which is just embarrassing IMO. I get that pop-in is a huge problem with this game even at 120, but I want to see my cars, mainly my sports and super cars, break 200 MPH in the next title, but that would mean R* needs to make a new engine to maintain detail while cruising at that sort of speed. My T20 is itching to go stupid fast, but engine limitations...

I agree about the interiors though. The mirrors didn't even reflect anything except a muddled interpretation of our rear view, which was pretty shortsighted on R*'s end after making first-person view a thing. I also noticed that there were a lot of generic dashboards that were reused in a lot of cars. It would be nice to have variety instead of retextures like these:

Generic classic car:

e0-1OmBNfECCJeJ74GFoew_0_0.jpg

Generic exotic interior:

maxresdefault.jpg

As for customization, I'd like to see wheel modification have a huge renovation. In Forza, we have the option to change the size of our rims and the width of our tires, something that would have been a nice feature with the slim-as-f*ck tires on a number of tires in GTA V.

I'll use my Charger from Forza Horizon 2 as an example:

This was the largest option for rim size, and I feel like they're perfect for my tastes. They're not much bigger than the muscle/lowrider rims in GTA V, but it would be a nice option to tweak rim sizes to something we want without having to use rims meant for sports or super cars.

9DOtljP.png

This is the biggest thing I really want, tire width. I can't stand seeing certain cars with really slim tires, so having an option to adjust width would be a great option.

3QV30Sp.png

Now my Dukes from GTA V:

The rim sizes in V aren't bad per se, but it would have been nice to increase their size just a bit

lIz6gnqsCUWxfqr0HiybHQ_0_0.jpg

Here's the issue I'm complaining about with tire width. I just can't stand looking at those skinny ass tires... it would be really nice to beef them up.

5wIgGH_doU-ye17Y-j2vPg_0_0.jpg

I get that I'm comparing GTA V's cars to Forza, but driving will always be the most important aspect of a GTA game. Taking notes from dedicated racing and driving games would go a long way to making GTA far more enjoyable.

I agree and I am sure that it will improve as cars are a main part of GTA and very popular. It is very sure to say that the graphics and details will improve with the next generation.

@Sir Michael, wheels size option is a think I am asking for since the beginning of GTA V. Rockstar had this option with Midnight Club years ago (diameter and witdth), so it shouldn´t be a big problem to add. I can´t understand why it hasn´t been added yet.

Customization should go into Need for Speed direction. Just check the possibilities at the newest NfS.

I think that car physics and damage should be improved quite much.

Cars should suffer more damage from crashes- It is so unrealistic if you drive 100 MPH with a sedan onto an oncoming truck and the front gets just bit warped. Also it is so irritating that the doors and roofs don't deform at all, it looks so stupid if you crash you car and it rolls over many times and the roof and doors have only some small scratches. Plus another unrealistic thing they added to GTA V is the explosion of the cars if they fall from a big height. In real life, cars never explode like that, i don't know why the hell did they wanted to add something like this, it resembles like an 80's action movie.

The car physics should also be more realistic. It is so stupid when you can drive a hill upwards with a sports car with no problems. Also, it is very unrealistic how you can control fully your car on air with the joystick or when the car is on it's roof, you can put it back to it's wheels. Driving overall feels too arcadey, there is not much challenge in the driving. Cars also feel like glued to the ground.

You played GTA IV yet? It has EVERYTHING you want; just look at the videos.

Also the 3D era games have suspensions that actually work, and some body roll, amongst other things. (SA's Rancher, for example.)

They just need to fix the physics and we'd all stop complaining. F*ck it, throw in a stick shift and a tach, too.

We'd be too busy learning to drive to even bother with the car interior.
