asbestosmonkey
Does anyone agree with me that liberty is actually a much better city than vice. I don't mean GTA3 is better than VC, i just think the roads and layout of liberty way more interesting than VC. I also think all the bright lights in Vice make it look knida childish and therefore unrealistic. Liberty is much more grey and moody and repersents the game better. I apoligise for sounding over enthusiastic about this!
The-Jackal
I like both respectively. Liberty City was so grungy and all crazy ass like, it was very cool. New york style, with nice parts and bad parts. Very cool. On the other hand you've got Vice which is flashy and all that stuff, which I like, lightens things up a little bit ya know. I like em both. AxER
Its cool how you get a different feel from each city, LC rains and theres fog and its very gritty, a tough place to live. Where as VC seems easier going, even though you know its corrput to the bone. Personally I prefer VC because it hardly ever rains, I like lots of visibility plus its bigger. Both cities are really cool though.
GTATHUG77
Liberty City (LAYOUT) was much better. It had hills and slopes with highways and the roads looked realistic One of my fondest memory's of gta3 was sitting in the middle of the slope on SSV that went sharply down to the waters edge near the bridge in front of the dam. It was so funny watching police cars and later tanks try to ram you and instead go flying over your head into the water 100m below. ahh memorys anyway getting back on topic Vice city was to flat and didn't have the dingy dark alleyways and that Gave GTA3 it's feeling of being there and thus the mafioso appeal. I hope the next GTA brings back the dark wish wash badass feel of GTA3, it was sweet. Also some hills for great police chases coppers
asbestosmonkey
this is a bit unrelated, but it's my topic so what the hell: ROCKSTAR, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT think GTA3 was set in the present, VC was set in the past, so GTA4 should be set in the future. Don't do it. A game set in the future would be awful. Set in San Andreas in the present day. Or better still set it in liberty. It would be interesting to see it two years on. The construction site would be finished, the tunnel on SSV might actually go somewhere etc. I cant wait!!
GTATHUG77
I agree. a futuristic game would be terrible. It is very hard to make science fiction realistic. The present day is the best choice. VC's less than glamerous pastel pink 80's were good for a break. But (stereotype) i wouldn't want to live there. Don't think it should be in Liberty city, it would be too repedative and dee ja vu ish

Liberty is much more grey and moody and repersents the game better. im sure u know this but u might not so.. if u turn trails off in options it will look much less colorfull and bright. i agree with what u said though, the layout of gta3 was much better than vc, if gta3 had had bikes and choppers.. it would have been so much better than vc. they also should have made snow in liberty... or should make it in the next gta. they should also make more sick crotch rocket bikes.. asbestosmonkey
Someone needs to start a pinned thread about what we want IN GTA4. After a bit of discussion we could settle on a few essentials and tell rockstar. Snow would be well cool. Instead of a beach track as in VC there could be an ice racing track somewhere. Now, lets get that GTA4 list started!
Downside
They both have their good and bad points.I can't wait to see how they make San Andreas. They've done dark and gloomy in Liberty and they've done bright and colorful in Vice. What's next? Esperanto_Boy
I agree with asbestos. I liked LC a lot better. Vice is way too small.
Apocalypse89
I'd probably like LC more if it wasn't for the crap sphagetti-like road layout and the annoying hills which forced you to stay on the roads which are now even more confusing from the elevations. And Esperanto_boy, VC is bigger than LC and that is a fact.
Esperanto_Boy
And Esperanto_boy, VC is bigger than LC and that is a fact. Really? I didn't know that. It sure doesn't seem that way.
Apocalypse89
And Esperanto_boy, VC is bigger than LC and that is a fact. Really? I didn't know that. It sure doesn't seem that way. Take a Helicopter in vice and fly around, then take the Dodo in GTA3 and fly around. You'll see the difference. This was announced Long before vice was released. The reason why people feel that Vice is smaller is because LC has the confusing sphagetti road system and VC has the ingenious "Trunk and branches" system where the trunk is a long highway or road that streches across the Island and the branches are smaller roads leading into the city itself. K_Speed
I think the layout in liberty city and vice city are the same. They both have their rich area, and poor area, both have an airport. Vice City has a Stadium though. Vice City has helicopsters to fly, motorcycles, airplanes that actually fly,.... thats because vice city is newer. Now, lets get that GTA4 list started! There is a GTA4 wishlist. Its in Gaming chat. GTA3 has a stadium too. I liked Liberty way better. I loved the grungy underworld feel it gives off. Vice is alot brighter and happier.
nekura
I like both cities, but I like Liberty City better. LC was based on NYC and I love NYC so thats probably why. Plus I think LC is bigger than VC even though it doesn't have any indoor environments. The GTA game on the PS3 will prolly have a city 3-4 times as big or maybe even bigger... can't wait. asbestosmonkey
I think the trunk and branches system of roads is slower than the LC system. LC is slower at first, but you soon learn shortcuts, like cutting between the trees next to the fire station to get to the road next to the park is Staunton. These shorts cuts are much more fun than the huge straight bits of road in VC. I Think different levels make LC more interesting too. Like down by the docks in Staunton there is road above, and above that a bridge. THere is also a shortcut along a thin piece of land to the construction site and ramps etc. so you can jump up to the road above (always good for avoiding the police). I think VC is only bigger due to the Beach which takes up alot of the map and is virtually useless. You've seen in once, you've seen it all. You've seen in once, you've seen it all. That's true... the beach is kinda big. If the next game is located in San Andreas they will definetly have hills and more complex roads than in VC. It was fun to just drop off huge hills in LC and somehow survive it or not. Plus driving was more challenging because of the terrain and having to make shortcuts. Ashwin
Liberty City layout was well thought out, Vice city gameplay is better though.
Struttdaddy
I really would have liked to see the a train in VC, not Subways, cuz Florida doesn't have subways but you guys know the train in Chinatown in GTA3, they needed something like that in VC.
