Arrows to Athens

I litteraly plan to cheat on a 2nd acount because otherwise playing on pc woud be a bad idea.

I once was verry anti cheat...but yea, if 1/10th of youre friends can just become a modder why care any longer ?

Besides the damage by now is already done so yea...

If rockstar was competent, cheating woudnt be so widespread.. since they arent...well: long live modders and glitchers :)

Edit: besides...their loading times and matchmaking sucks so bad i nearly feel entitled to some bilions :D

Getting a mod menu isn't very difficult, I've recently noticed. All you need is a USB and a video tutorial, then you're good to go. A jailbreak isn't even required.

It's not just in video games, it happens in just about every aspect of life, even though the vast majority of people play fair theres always that small group of people who given the chance to lie, cheat and steal for the own gains or amusment they will every time unrelentlessly.

This is so damn true, honestly, worrying about the cheaters on a video game is petty, I mean sure when someone who is cheating in GTAO and talking sh*t to me because they're "whopping my ass" with a God mode glitch is annoying to me and I may complain every now and again because of it; but is it really affecting my day to day life? Not at all, now the top 10% of earners in this country, they're the ones affecting my daily life the most... Don't want to get political, just speaking the truth.

I'll even admit, a buddy of mine gave me a modded account, Rank 8000, $1 billion in the bank. Do I ever use this account? Not really, I made him a novelty account, when I'm bored with free mode, missions and heists, etc, I'll switch over to him and mod up some cars. I always play Solo Sessions with him, I don't need my IP being related to a modded account. My main account, I have 5 full garages and the only fun aspect of the game anymore really is free roam play or the content creator or customizing cars, so that's honestly why I took that modded account, so I could have another 50 cars to mod up, basically I've bought cars I don't have on my main and that's it.

So my main point, don't let it get to you, wasting your time having "debates" with other players online seems a bit excessive as its not the place for it. If you must report someone for cheating, go right ahead, it's why they implemented that feature. I just say move on and have fun, there's people of all different mindsets and just because they have a modded account doesn't mean they've got ill intentions.

(Disclaimer: I play on PC, my PC is crap, barely able to play the game, but I still have fun)

Two points.

1. If a player is not griefing you, how does it impact your gaming experience?

Maybe I am just the anti-competitive type - the only competition that matters at all to me is against myself.

2. What about the anti-cheating/modding mobs who think anything they don't know how to do is a cheat/mod?

Let me list the some of the things that have caused the mob to accuse me of cheating/modding.

a. Having custom license plates (iFruit)

b. Having a shiny multi-coloured paint job (Pearlescent)

c. Lagging out causing my character to jump around in other players' game.

d. Actively working on my stats to get them to full by level 30 (second character, so I knew what to do - was aiming for lvl 25, but hadn't spent enough time flying).

e. Trying to join a friend's job, timing out and returning to the session I started in. (Supposedly I went Invisible)

f. Calling for a Merryweather boat pickup way out in the Pacific Ocean. (Spawing boats)

f. Driving around in a Police Riot van (easily obtained at the impound yard)

Jerking For Soup

I've never cheated or modded a video game apart from PC mods and cheat codes, so this is just prediction based on my knowledge of basic psychology lol.

If you wish to mod/hack/cheat in a video game for fun, if it doesn't harm anybody else in the process, then go for it. It's logical, and you're only ruining the difficulty for your own game anyway, so you'll get a little less out of it than anybody else anyways.

If you wish to mod/hack/cheat in a video game for:

- E-Penis Length AKA Egotistical Reasons

- To have an unfair advantage over over players.

- To impress your Train-Loving Fedora-Wearing Friends

- All of The Above

...then you take the game way too seriously, you're an egotistical maniac who needs help caring for anybody other than himself, you are an asshole, or all three.

Accusing another player of hacking/cheating/modding is only alright if you have clear evidence to back up your statements. A player lagging about is not clear evidence because there's many different reasons that could happen, take a guess, connection problems.

I'd mod if i knew how. But whenever theres a glitch or exploit i use it nonstop.

In a game like GTA, theres no point in grinding. The game was never like that traditionally so therefore i won't waste my time.

I work for money in real life, i don't have to do that sh*t in a f*ckin video game

Dude, lol, I'm talking bout' the hacks and glitches in the post above me. GTA PC Mods are cool, and I don't have a problem with em'.

There's a lot of confusion based on the word 'mod' in this community so I can't tell if you were joking or not. :)

Since I am one of those guys who are strictly against any kind of cheat that is not purely cosmetic I am happy to answer your points.

1. It depends. Firstly, there are far too many modders who seem to crave every iota of attention they can get. Not getting griefed by one is like running across the yard to your car on a rainy day without getting wet. But for the sake of the argument I will accept that there are cheaters who do not grief. I will even say that other players are hardly affected by modders/cheaters who keep such a low profile that you do not realise they are there. Of those only those who give away money are a problem, because creating money is automatically and without exception a bad thing. People who want money could become in some way contributing members of the online community either by buying shark cards and keeping the developer interested in continuing the support for the game or by participating in heists and other jobs that generate money for themselves and other people. But since they get the money for free they do not. Instead they often become the most detrimental parts of the the online community who expect handouts whenever they want money and use their illegitimate funds for griefing since they do not have to worry about vehicle prices, ammo cost or insurance.

But creating entitled buttmonkeys is not the only way how a cheater/modder can affect my experience negatively without actively and intentionally griefing me. The more noticeable a modder is the more likely it is that I am affected. Maybe I waste time, money and effort trying to cash in a daily (say "collect a bounty" or "kill a player while off the radar") on a godmoder. Maybe a modder spawns something that blocks my way during a time trial or causes a huge traffic jam on my escape route. Maybe I join our weekly crew race and for the next 45 minutes every lap I have to drive around that chrome tank that came with me from that public session. If a normal player disturbs me he has to try doing it within the rules that I know, the rules set by the developers. When a modder does it he uses rules that are set by him and unknown to me. That is neither fair not fun for the non-modding party.

2. Yes, what about those anti-cheating/modding mobs? There are always going to be players who are less knowledgeable than you. And when these players see you do things that they do not know how to do, they have several ways of dealing with it. They can attribute it to lag or some kind of bug. They can message you and ask you how you did that. And in a game where modmenu shenanigans are as prevalent as in GTA Online they can just assume that you are one of those cheaters. Sure, they are wrong, and there is hardly any online game where it is completely unheard of that people get unjustly accused of cheating, but when a game is this modmenu infested it becomes the default assumption for a large part of the playerbase that everybody who does something unknown is a cheater. So, I guess it is fair to say that the amount of cheating in GTA Online is negatively affecting your gaming experience even when there is no modder actively griefing you. You can add that one to my answer to 1, too.

FourFingersOfFun

Simple, the overwhelming majority of these script kiddies are immature and highly likely to be very impatient and need instant gratification (looking at you "I don't want to play to make money so I'll just cheat to get stupid amounts instantly" posters).

One way to confirm their immaturity is to watch how quickly they claim that "you're mad" when you say how sad it is that they need scripts to beat someone and other things that don't indicate you're mad at all and you're just laughing at them. Usually they pull the "why you so mad" card within a few minutes.

Thinking that ruining the game for everyone else is something fun to do is also another sign of immaturity (similar to destroying a kids snowman for da epic lul trollz bro, it just shows you're immature and need to grow up) that pops up quickly with these script kiddies.

Since you are only targeting the money dropping modders how the hell are they even ruining the game?

You should be whining about the session bombers, free money is absolutely harmless lmao.
