Why do gamers feel the need to mod/hack/cheat in online games? *KEEP I

Great guys you have turned a discussion about a sensitive subject, "cheaters" into another discussion with a sensitive subject "Free Aim vs Auto Aim"... this will probably go very well...

I mean, it's not like the original topic hasn't already been discussed to death a thousand times already...

IMO, we need a thread specifically for all things modder/cheater related, (inb4 b&m). It seems like every couple days, we get another "why do people mod/cheat" thread. Then there's the the countless threads from people sharing their experiences with modders, whether they be negative or positive, who relentlessly deny that their topic belongs in Share Your Stories or B&M.

And... Using auto aim in free aim is a huge advantage over the player who does not use it. That is just cheating..

How does one manage to use auto aim in free aim?

Go to settings. Turn on FREE AIM assisted aim. Then join GTA O.

You are now in free with with auto aim. Enjoy ! :D

Ok, I thought you were on about actual auto aim, however that's still not cheating, it gives an advantage that anyone could have if they change their settings, I know you'd probably like the two to have split lobbies, I probably would too, but think how few people would be in both.

You can argue that. I define it as cheating, but it does not fall under the definition of cheating. Changing a definition to back your argument is pathetic.

people do it because they can.

some of us choose the easy way, some of us choose the hard way.

personally i have no issue with people doing whatever they want aslong as they dont affect me, which 99.9% of the time.they dont!

going around reporting people for 8000 ranks and stuff like that is useless, evenmore if youre on ps3/360/pc were the person running the mod menu can easily clear it reports.

on ps4/xbone modded accounts give no advantage, so reporting the useless level 8000 means nothing.

just move on, mind your business!

And this sums up my opinion on this as well.

The only thing I want to add is that modders should not exist in a bad light but you have the ones that run around blowing up lobbies and attaching sh*t to people to thank for that. Not all modders are bad or have ill intentions. Do not assume someone who is modding is a mischievious player.

Bahaha it's so funny to hear people take the moral high ground on a computer game based on crime.

-snip-

Great logic. Did you steal your copy of the game from the shop? If not you fail.

Hhmmm, what about all the "shark Cards" I never paid for! Bahahahahahahaha!

Good thing i never changed anything... R* did. R* allowed auto aim and free aim to to mix on Current gen. This is not a thing on old gen.. free aim is free aim there.

And for most actual free aim players.. they would not care if LESS auto aim players are in free aim since thats why they play actual free aim. But the way it currently is there is free aim players using auto aim not because they want too.. but because they will be at a disadvantage if the don't use it.

*KEEP IT CIVIL!*

If you are a gamer of any online game such as Grand Theft Auto Online or any MMO for that matter, You've probably already know that you at one time or another have ran into someone who has taken advantage of the game by putting in mods, have hacked an endless supply of money on their account, made their character reach level 1 to 8000 in mere seconds, made their character invincible, and other numerous ways to advance themselves effortlessly.

Usually, when I encounter someone who has cheated by doing any of the following listed, I report them and will usually submit a ticket to Rockstar Games and try and go about my business.

Normally, I will just let that person know they have been reported and be on my way.

Half the time, I will get no response.

But there will be those times where that person will respond and it usually is followed by insults or in rare occasions, A full on debate about cheating/modding/hacking in general.

I have heard numerous arguments and defenses about why people cheat/mod/hack these types of games and I still don't get it.

I don't see why people would want to waste their time to advance themselves in a video game without playing the game legitimately and in games like GTAO, earn what they have acquired instead of uploading a modding program to get what they want.

Hopefully most of you have similar or equal views and have gotten everything you have acquired on GTAO without cheating.

But I'm sure there are people here that have taken the easy way out and cheated their way into riches and progress effortlessly.

I'm open for discussion and debate on this subject. Maybe you can enlighten me.

*KEEP IT CIVIL!*

I am the player you file a ticket against LOL

Does it matter that I'm on assisted aim but 75% of my kills are free aim? Its easy to kill out aimers when they're out of range with their autoaim lol

Waw, I encountered what I'd call a super-mod.
I just saw this weird car in front of LS Customs, tried to blow it up, didn't explode and then it started driving around me. Totally freaked me out.

It was a Zentorno-looking car, but with armored windows like the Kuruma.
The gamertag wasn't appearing anywhere, also completely invisible on the map.

Can you imagine the trolling someone like that can inflict on the lobby? And there's no way of kicking or reporting him, since he's not even listed in the session-list.

well , put the blame on R* , not the one who uses assisted aim ( because they're not quite experienced to play in free aim )

Whats does not being quite experienced have to do with manual aim? Its ok to miss. thats the point of free aim. To play without auto aim.. not play with leet skilled players. Besides there already is a AA modes.

But il bite for a second

So cheating to get easy kills because you don't want to learn how to play is GOOD?

Cheating to get vehicles to drive around in because you don't have time to grind the same sh*t OR buy cash cards.... is BAD?

You're losing me here.. This is why i think R* logic = stupid.

One effects game play the other effects personal choice. Personal choice that effects no other players is not cheating in a game. But AA in FA does effect the entire game mode.

wake up , G

you can't make the game turns on your favor , like just setting the aim preference just count one ? oh come on

If I see them, I report them if its certain and then change lobbies. Its only one in twenty lobbies I encounter something obviously fishy.

If we all did that, theyd be forced to play by themselves.

Here is a reason directly from someone who uses mods. I'm just bored of the game. I don't use mods to blow people up endlessly, annoy them, or remove their weapons. I don't use them to gain any sort of advantage. I never really fight people in GTA Online anyway. What I do use them for is to have fun with my friends and not bother other players. I spawn vehicles, objects, edit the map, or sometimes give people money because screw Shark Cards.

Here are the reasons most "cheat" or use cheats in online games (and games in general).

1. It can take alot of time to grind for cash for all the DLC items; sure you can make an argument that it doesn't but I am only giving you reasons why people would feel it makes it okay to cheat because they feel the system is inherently flawed and in Rockstar's favor (forcing you to heavily consider shark cards.)

2. It makes the game more fun. I have been using cheats on almost every game I had since the 80's and I miss cheat codes so much as it seems newer games are removing these cheat codes to make online more fair and balanced. Like others I am sure we all used the codes in N64 to uses secrect guys in Goldeneye or make Link fly in Legend Of Zelda Ocarina of time.

Everything else lies in between, somewhere between feeling they are justified in cheating because of the system or because it makes the game more fun for them.

I think cheat codes are fine and well except in Online games that are competitive or have scoring system as some people take enjoyment from earning top scores and I feel like the cheats make their accomplishments seem less special or if the cheating is directly taking money from the game developers as the artists deserve to get paid for their art.

I concur. I have no issue whatsoever with people boosting their level or giving themselves cash. Even godmode or whatever, fine by me.

Just don't be that prick that explodes everyone on the server, and I'm cool with you.

I'm an adult, so I dnt get all butt hurt about anyone using hacks or mods on GTA. I spank all the Modded accounts anyways, they can't play they game in free mode, no skill. That's what some of y'all forget, it still takes skill to play. Funny the people that cry about the Modded accounts, do the Pac standard heist glitch on repeat... Cheating is cheating. PS. f R*shark cards

It is sad and pathetic to cheat. I had a friend that I used to play golf with him, he was always cheating on his scorecard. I don't understand that behavior, it wouldnt even feel good to me to ''beat'' someone by cheating. If I want to be better then someone at something, I will work and get better and when I will be better it will feel good.

Makes me sad that many players seem to think a mod menu is a mod. Back in the day it was just a way to facilitate the use of actual mods. Now many players think a mod is a toxic menu that exploits the game when in reality a mod is an expansion of the game, not merely a menu to exploit the existing code.

The day that any gamer would resent mods is a sad day for gaming imo.

when i started gaming, i felt a connection to all the other gamers, like bikers, they greet each other with respect, no matter what. but over the decades, gamers became more and more "car drivers" and us "bikers" became the minority. there is no respect anymore. there are little kids and older people hating themselves, so they unleash there hate and disturb the others or get a feeling of power they wouldnt have otherwise.

very simple human behavior actually.

I litteraly plan to cheat on a 2nd acount because otherwise playing on pc woud be a bad idea.

I once was verry anti cheat...but yea, if 1/10th of youre friends can just become a modder why care any longer ?

Besides the damage by now is already done so yea...

If rockstar was competent, cheating woudnt be so widespread.. since they arent...well: long live modders and glitchers :)

Edit: besides...their loading times and matchmaking sucks so bad i nearly feel entitled to some bilions :D
