Why do gamers feel the need to mod/hack/cheat in online games? *KEEP I

I see a lot of those I don't have time to do this or I don't have time to do that ,well you found the time to play the game right? so maybe it takes longer to rank up SO it's a game ANY excuse given to why someone uses hacks to get ahead to me is BS,this is why I can't stand those shark cards because I see them as a legal hack ,and one reason I don't play it online.

Rank is useless, i don't care about this, i only dont like when the modder kills everyone on the room or becomes immortal, but this doesn't happen often, so i really don't care a lot.

They want everything because their getting killed over and over again so they think the guns will help them defeat the high rankers griefing them. After they get all the guns and vehicles they get smacked back in place because they dont have the expireience to use the freebies. So unless you put the time in, having everything means nothing.

I work full time and have a family. I simply don't have the time or energy to dedicate to grinding millions upon millions to buy the things I want in order to enjoy the limited time I get on GTA.

I don't impact anyone's game negatively, simply keep myself to myself (and group I enjoy talking to) and enjoy the game.

So what if I have 100s of millions that I gained through not so legitimate means? Doesn't impact anyone else.

Would I like to play the game legit and enjoy the fruits of my labour? Of course. Can I? Not a chance with the massively over inflated prices.

I couldn't have said it any better.

If I am faced with the choice of grinding to get rich or cheating to get rich, I'll cheat.

I cheated, I'm a billionaire and I won.

Listening to some of you supposed "Legit Players", that have never cheated in a Video Game. Give me a break will ya. I Can Pretty much Guarantee We ALL have cheated on at least one video game or another at one point in our lifes, Its human nature. Btw if it hadn't been for Magazines like "Tips & Tricks" Magazine or websites like "Cheat Code Central" I would have given up gaming long ago.

I never cheated in an Online game, it's NOT my nature to be an absolute arsehole and anti-social mentally ill someone who has a god complex, like most cheaters are.

It's not human nature to cheat in a video game to gain advantage over others, it is the nature of those who are tainted and evil human beings, something I wouldn't even describe anymore as human beings as they simply do not deserve to belong to human race.

IMO cheating/glitching for money is in a different category to god mode/super everything.

Everything in this game is overinflated price wise, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it is what it is. I had billions in the early days from a 2 bil bounty, bought everything I wanted, not a care in the world, then I got bored. It(money) got wiped, I saved cash got more things, hookered 30 mil, then I got bored again, spent everything leaving me 2k, never attempted another cash glitch/cheat again. Now still happily playing on and off, still no cares given, still having fun. Other stuff like god mode and super invisible roll of death, me no like.

TL;DR: cash cheat good, other cheats bad.

I should probably put in clothing glitches are in the same boat as cash glitches, I know someone here would bring that up.

1. Because of shark cards Lcp1qma.jpg

2. Because modding is easily accessible (haven't seen any mods for gta online cost $)

3. Competitive battles (CREW vs CREW)

4. Unlockables such as weapons, etc

5. It makes the game too easy to play

Bahaha it's so funny to hear people take the moral high ground on a computer game based on crime. If you feel so morally superior by not cheating well, congratulations here's a trophy for you.

Geez Do you even read, Bro ?... I was not even talking about cheating online. I was talking about the games before the online version existed. you know there was Like GTA IV or Older before GTA:Online, Right?

Also when i was talking about Human nature I meant being a kid. We were all kids Once and yes we all cheated on those games, Don't Lie you know you have.

BTW I have Absolutely no Problems with People Glitching Money/clothes/etc. But I definently agree those "Ghosts" (Invisible Body Parts/God/Passive Mode abusers) are F'in Annoying. but until R* fixes the Problem, It is what It is.

Two and a half years this game has been out, I no longer care about mission grinding. I don't have the energy to do that anymore. No doubt the next DLC will have a two person dupe glitch or something similar to the main character in slot two solo money glitch from last year, that made me $90+ million richer. I'll guarantee you I'll glitch any amount of money I damn feel like. Most recent dupe glitch made me $19 million. Up coming glitch, I'll be duping a Faction Donk. sh*t is pricey.

GTAO social justice warriors/GTAO wannabe police can scream "entitlement!!!", "sociopath!!" or "mental issues" all they want, that won't stop us. People with common sense will call them out as stupid. It's got nothing to do with entitlement or sociopathy, just look at the f*ckwit below I'm quoting, lol

sociopathy and entitlement.

Oy vey. What a load of tosh. Did Blasterman4EVER take over your account by any chance?

I am but a disgruntled, bitter helicopter pilot. If Rockstar loses out on shark card money due to people glitching, I won't shed a tear.

Why not have both?. I have a safe legit account and accounts where I try every glitch. All my 5? accounts have 40-70 million each.

Lying, killing, manipulating...i woud not give a f*ck.

Yup. Normally, I like exploring why people do things, but in this thread there is a great deal of projection.

Bottom line, each modder is unique and has their own reasons. Straining for a unified psychological profile is a fools errand.

Looks like we've got a lot of Psych Majors onthis forum. :sarcasm:

Sorry, The Big Show's point is valid. Just because you can't appreciate the irony of it all doesn't make it FAIL. Interjecting morals into a moraless game. It is quite funny to watch and the intellectual contortions that those promoting absolutist positions go through.

I'm an elite ultra hardcore serious gamer, I do nothing but play GTA Online everyday and buy shark cards from my Diety Rockstar Games, and there's nothing I hate more than people who don't agree with me and thus they are considered retarded.

I have no form of common sense or reasonable argument skills because I let my childish behavior take over me and attack anyone who isn't as hardcore and delusional as me, anyone who criticizes R* is a hater and deserves to be banned.

There is nothing wrong with turning an old rusty car into a Lowrider with the same price of a high-end super car because I can color the interiors, there's nothing wrong with being disconnected from sessions easily even with fast internet because I can appreciate R*'s detailed clouds, and there is nothing wrong with being easily sniped to death by pistol-carrying terminators because I find it challenging and beating them up with a golf club is fun even if I continue to die hundreds of times.

I'm a Rockstar fanboy, and this has been a Public Service Announcement.

PS: adversary modes are better than any other gamemodes, if you don't agree with me I'll report you to Rockstar.

Those who cheat/glitch their way into a criminal career in GTA Online are usually the first to complain at the lack of DLC or lack of updates.

And that, for the benefit of Alanis Morrisette, is Ironic.

I do not care about modding or cheating as long as it does not affect my gameplay. Someone 8000 rank with 2 billion dollars dies/loses a race just as easily as someone level 100 with 5k.

People that use godmode on ps3/360/pc and use it as a way to harm orhers are bad.

Some people may want tons of money and unlocks because they prefer a sandbox style game. Which is what gta is. The artificial inflation and constant push of content that requires hours of grinding (i.e not having fun) or buying a sharkcard contradicts the sandbox mindset in my opinion. Also I see no difference in buying a shark card or modding /glitching 8 million. That is 8 million you did not work for in game.

I am not under the delusion that shark cards make gta dlc free. Because the updates for gta online are not dlc. They are updates. I wouldnt call an update for World of Tanks that adds an entire new line of tanks a dlc. Did it add content? Yes. Was it mandatory conrent though? Yes. Imo if it is mandatory it is not dlc. I can continue playing cod black ops 3 without dlc. I can play forza without the car packs. I cannot play gta without the beach bum pack.

Rockstar already gave people the ability to cheat with shark cards - I see no difference whatsoever between them and modding,

You don't see the difference, or you don't know the difference? By using your own words, you should be glad people "cheat". I'd imagine if they didn't, you'd see all these updates in the form of paid DLC.

I don't see the difference. Maybe someone could explain it, from a gameplay perspective?

The shark cards fund Rockstar. Everyone knows that. But purely from a gameplay perspective, how is boosting money with no effort that way any different to boosting money with no effort another way?

I've got nothing against people who buy the cards, or those who glitch money. I consider them all to be cheating, though I don't see that as a particularly large crime. As long as it doesn't give them significant PvP advantages over other players (which it doesn't).

For real though, how often do people really need to make this f*cking topic? It's common sense that there's no real answer and it'll just start a flame war.

I don't mind modders/hackers as long as they don't give me sh*t tons of money and get me banned for 1000 years. I prefer things like windmills stuck to your head, or that hippo bin from GTA 4. I never mod 'cause I don't own a pc/laptop and don't know how to, and never would.

Simple, if you BUY Shark Cards, the money still means something to you, you wouldn't just waste the precious money you bought with a great whale shark card on rocket launcher ammo, even if you have enough money at your disposal, you would still CARE for the purchases you make.

However if you cheated the money via a Glitch or mod menu, the money is meaningless to you and you pretty much have unlimited money at your disposal, that is essentially the difference.

To make an analogy, imagine you buy a video game with your own money, even if you are a millionaire you would still not simply throw that game in the trash bin or something along those lines, you would still value what you purchased, however if a complete stranger on the road gifted you a video game, you would not value it as much as you value your purchase, sure you would still play the game and try not to damage it, but if it got damaged it would basically mean almost nothing to you.

Now that is the difference from a gameplay standpoint, however there is still a significant difference if we look at it from a consumer standpoint:

You as a legit consumer have a significant disadvantage in obtaining in-game vehicles simply because their prices are adjusted to the average money players got on their bank account, in contrary you as a Player have an advantage when people obtain Shark Cards, simply because Shark Cards drive content output and long-term support for your game.
