GTA III Special Vehicle Guide

My 2nd Save would've been 44-45 Days Passed in Game if I was quicker and saved less, but I value the Special Vehicles collected than the Stats, except if the Stats are Wasted, Busted, Cheats and Missions Failed, which all need to be 0 except the Missions Failed which is kept at Minimum, and except if it's SA which needs some Deaths but it's still kept Minimum.

Actually, if you try the Taxi Glitch on any Emergency Vehicle (Police, Enforcer, FBI Car, Rhino, Ambulance, Firetruck) then you'll ONLY activate Vigilante/Paramedic/Firefighter, but then you won't be able to activate Taxi Driver ever again. If you enter any Taxi, Cabbie or Borgnine, it won't even show the Message alerting that you can activate the Taxi Driver Missions and R3 won't do anything. Observed and tested on PS2, thus the Police, Enforcer and FBI Car that I have are all Special with DP and One Time Only on PS2.

Maybe you can make an Ambulance DP using Paramedic, but ohwell...

On PC, I think nothing happens, thus why fnxrak (?) could've made a DP Ambulance in his Videos using Taxi Driver.

Like Rational said, the Mafia Sentinel, Sentinel and Esperanto aren't DP in Gone Fishing (Sentinel), Bait (Sentinel), Sayonara Salvatore (Mafia Sentinel) and Two-Faced Tanner (Esperanto). They just have an Unique Flag which is unsaveable which makes them immune to all Non-Player damage, thus they ACT DP and even ACT AP, thus being "Fake AP."

I still made them DP anyways just fill in the spots, I made them DP because MattJ155 said that they're Fake DP and sticked to what he said.

Haven't played in a while on PS2, went back to it yesterday and noticed I have an NE Hoods Rumpo XL. Would you classify that as a 'special' vehicle?

Lethal Vaccine

All the NE Vehicles (except in IV and TLaD since they come from one time only Missions) are not special in GTA, but rather just rare. It can be obtained any time and it's incredibly easy to spawn it in NE form like the Taxi. There is only the Taxi and Hoods Rumpo XL in III that can be NE and I have both in DP/NE form in my 2nd Save File. But that's just it...2nd Save File. These things are not worthy enough for a 1st Save File and since they can be obtained at any stage and time in the game, they are not important. Only good for a 2nd Save File to burn some space as MAJORITY of the Special Vehicles are usually obtained in the 1st Save, so when you get to a 2nd Save, there isn't much left to get, hence why these NE Vehicles are ok for that Save.

Making an Ambulance DP using Taxi driver can have different results.

For me, on PC, nothing happened.

Ps2 can't make it DP with Taxi driver because you'll just remove Taxi driver.

If you convert the Ambulance into DP but you fail at this task, you can get a permanent blip.

How to do it like a pro.

I know that on PS2 doing the Taxi Glitch on the Paramedic, Firefighter and Vigilante Vehicles makes Taxi Driver Un-Activateable, you'll softlock the Game.

But it's interesting how you can DP the Ambulance any time using this Video. So that makes my DP Ambulance another normal useless DP Vehicle then. But still, the Police, Enforcer and EC FBI Car are all One Time Only in DP Form on PS2...

It doesn't matter (and I don't care about people making One Time Only Special Vehicles into Any Time Obtainable ones, *cough* NE Zebra Cab in VC on PS2) as my 2nd III Save is for the rest of the Story Special Vehicles, One Time Only Special Vehicles, plus useless DP Vehicles. My 1st III Save has all of them Special (even the AP Cheetah is Special, because I got it with a Pass).

Will add that Video and fix the explanation on the Guide for the DP Conversion later...

Don't forget, that (BP) Barracks OL can also be lifted with a crusher regardless to its size, so I guess in PS2 it is as well an one-time-only convertable?

No... The BP Barracks OL (any Barracks OL for that matter) is a standard Vehicle to be made DP. It's not too heavy for the Crusher, meanwhile a Blista is... Rockstar Logic.

But its also a vigilante vehicle like police or.. FBI.. still not affected? Lol with a silent patch, (that I have for PC, Blista is replaced with a Coach to be lifted witg makes much more sense lol :D)

Barracks OL is not a Vigilante Vehicle.... You can't do Vigilante with it in III... Atleast on PS2.

I don't care about Mods or any SilentPatch.

Oh yea sorry my bad.. for some reason I thought it is but I was thinking about VC. Don't worry, as a s.v. collector I don't use ANY mods or editors, those are my enemies (except in V, where I need to check vehicles with one). Only thing I use is SilentPatch in III, VC and SA, as it makes the game more console-like, removes some of many wacky PC glitches which do make the game easier at some points (better than nothing) because I still want a bit more challenge than PC offers..

P.S. SF u seen my private message?

Anyways, enough about hanging around. I will take my GTA III into focus now to fix my current saves which include wasted/busted or 121 passed days, it's just awful and scratches my eyes. III stats don't include safehouse visit stats, so I will not make the 53% starter save with 1 save only, it would be ridiculously OP. Just zeroing w/b stat, minimal kills, days passed and NO CHEATS. Also including the RC Bandit which I haven't obtained before. Let's see what happens. Btw SF and MPE or anyone else who has 53% starter save along with ~41 days passed, how much did you actually SAVE?

I honestly don't remember how much I saved in my III Starter Save, I know that I have 24 Days Passed in Game in it, just like MorsPrincipiumEst. I'd say about 11 times with a plus/minus 3 day error chance, who knows. There's no Safehouse Visits nor Total Playing Time Stat in III so I have no idea.

I only look at 0 Wasted, 0 Busted, 0 Cheats and minimum Missions Failed Stats in III, along with the Days Passed in Game. This is why I want to do a 3rd III Save just to have 0 Missions Failed, but for the time being, I don't care about making it. My main concern now is the VC Starter Save which will soon be done anyways, then 2 Saves for VC. One with all non-OM0 Vehicles with NE Vehicles, and then the 2nd with OM0 EC Black and RC Vehicles.

Oh so the full 100% save should be ~41 days passed? My current starter save has 66 and a complete one 121 days passed.. god what was I doing in those saves I wonder..

Link to comment

My Starter Save on PS2 like Mors' is 24 Days Passed in Game. I got 47 Days Passed in Game by 100% on both Save, while Mors got 46 in his 1st Save and 39 on his 2nd Save.

66 Days Passed in Game is A LOT for a Starter Save, and 121 Days Passed in Game is A LOT for a 100% Save.

When I think about it, you can always have less Days Passed in Game (or Total Playing Time) without Starter Saves in any GTA, but it's always nice to have Starter Saves in these 10 GTAs so you have to do less tasks while doing the Saves, thus going quicker and not having to worry about any Hidden Packages or Rampages etc.

It can happen on PC too. On my version, I've been locked out because I tried to make a side-mission vehicle DP.

It can happen on PC, no doubt. Afterall, fnxrak had Videos and tested this stuff out years back and posted them in the OLD III Guide when he figured out how to make a DP Police with Taxi Driver and WITHOUT glitching the game, but it's hit or miss, and you must change the Button Layout...

so I guess in PS2 it is as well an one-time-only convertable?

Barracks OL doesn't do Vigilante in III, so there is no issue with Vigilante and Taxi Driver being activated at the same time.

Barracks OL is one time only DP on III Mobile, but nowhere else and on Mobile, not only is it one time only (all Vehicles to make DP are, actually), but you MUST have the doors chopped off before attempting to make it DP as the passenger will exit, then enter it while you spam the Button to get back into it and you lose seconds to get back in before it's a Ghost if the doors are not chopped off, so it's vital for Mobile, but not any other Platform and to make it DP on any Console or PC Versions is like any other Vehicle, really. Just Mobile for III has problems with DP'ing Vehicles since you're forced to use the Story Missions and Side Missions like Rumble who have Scripted Passengers as the Taxi Trick won't work for Mobile and was patched as are Thieves who can steal your Vehicles and you can use them to make them DP, but this was also patched for Mobile over a year ago...

A long time ago, I tried making a Police DP using Taxi Driver and what happened to me on PS2 is I had some Pink Blips and some Green Blips on my Radar, but Taxi Driver STILL could be activated. But all those Blips would multiply and remain on the Radar and once I saw all of this happening, I just reloaded the Save and didn't bother with any DP on a Police...

There are also Unobtainable vehicles from missions that you can "theoretically obtain" I took this from my own GTA 3 special vehicle guide that I later scrapped and never posted. I don't see a full point in collecting these, but I collected them anyway because I'm a completionist. I'm just putting it out there and if people want to collect them they can. These vehicles do 100% exist in the game, you can do these missions and test to see if this is true if you don't believe me.

*I think there was someone who covered 2 of these special vehicles as well as how to recreate the patriot seen at the beginning cutscene when you start a new game. I forgot his name, maybe someone knows who he is?

"Unobtainable" Vehicles: How To Obtain Them

Despite these cars being unobtainable within the mission, they can be recreated using the crusher glitch to make these cars DP. You guessed it, all these cars are DP. These cars are only for the completionist and don't really have to be collected, but you can collect them if you want to anyway. To convert a vehicle to DP look at the section where I talk about how to ghost your vehicle as well as DP conversion. Like previously mentioned, these DP properties from these missions are stripped when taken into a garage.

0.1. DP Mafia Sentinel

0.2. DP Esperanto

0.3. DP Sentinel

0.1. DP Mafia Sentinel

Mission: N/A (Sayonara Salvatore)

Difficulty: *

Character: N/A

How to Obtain: Simply take a Mafia Sentinel from Marco's Bistro or Salvatore's Mansion, then go to the Crusher and perform the Crusher glitch. In the mission, this DP car is found chasing you when attempting to kill Sal.

0.2. DP Esperanto

Mission: N/A (Two-Faced Tanner)

Difficulty: *

Character: N/A

How to Obtain: Simply take an Esperanto from Portland in the traffic, then go to the Crusher and perform the Crusher glitch. In the mission, this car is driven by the NPC in which you are instructed to kill.

0.3. DP Sentinel

Mission: N/A (Bait)

Difficulty: *

Character: N/A

How to Obtain: Simply take a Sentinel from Marco's Bistro or in the traffic, then go to the Crusher and perform the Crusher glitch. In the mission, these Sentinels (there are multiple of them) can be found chasing you when attempting to lure them into the trap.

In Story Missions, there are a fake DP Sentinel, fake DP Mafia Sentinel and fake DP Esperanto

Courtesy of Nick007J, these cars are not exactly DP. They possess a unique flag called "immune_to_non_player", which, as its description suggests, makes the cars immune to any form of damage not caused by the player. That said, they are not only "fake" DP; you can also cruise around Portland and not care about the deadly Mafia, or even drive-by vehicles to death without worrying about explosions.

This property is not stored in garages, hence why you probably haven't heard of it before.

This has already been discussed before... They're NOT DP, they just have the Flag "immune_to_non_player" which makes them LOOK DP, which makes them LOOK AP, thus they're Fake AP/Fake DP... RationalPsycho explained it very clear and well.

I know they can be "re-created" (false term as they're not actually DP) with the DP Conversion Trick, this is why I actually made them in my 2nd Save...

I have no time talking about te same stuff that has been talked about in these two whole last Pages in the III Guide. I'd just repeat myself.

Then again, we all watched MattJ155's Secret Car (Special Vehicle) Walkthrough... He also mentions a Locked Doors PC Infernus, Locked Doors Sentinel etc. All of them are pointless to mention as they can't be stored with the Properties in the Garages, same with the Mafia Sentinel, Sentinel and Esperanto...

About that DP/EC Black Patriot Video. It's cheated in the Game and made DP using the Crusher. This Guide is not going to be only about the DP Conversion Trick (Crusher Glitch), but also about Special Vehicles which are One Time Only and are the prime reason why this Guide exists. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

Also that Sentinel appears not only in Bait, but also in Gone Fishing...

I actually made them in my 2nd Save...

Like you did, I put it in my third save I think. Once again, I had previously stated that these cars weren't really meant to be collected thus why they are not in my "main save." You could collect them if you wanted to, I did but you don't have to regardless if they are fake or not.

Also, what do you mean when you say that the Sentinel appears in "Gone Fishing"? I have never seen a Sentinel, to begin within that mission. Are you sure that's what the mission is called? 90% of that mission takes place on the water.

Also that Sentinel appears not only in Bait, but also in Gone Fishing

I'm not going to put entries for every single possible DP Vehicle that can be made using the DP Conversion Trick, that's why ONE entry exists called "DP Conversion Trick." Then again, all regular Vehicles made DP except for Special Vehicles upgraded to DP, the Police, Enforcer and EC FBI Car, are just Rare Vehicles not worth getting unless you've already obtained all Special Vehicles in III. Like I said, icing on the cake. That's why I got random DP Vehicles in my 2nd III Save to fill all the empty space AFTER getting all Special Vehicles.

This Sentinel (according to Lancet's old Guide on GameFAQs) is found when the Target gets out onto land when he beaches his Unobtainable Unique Ghost... I know that it's called Gone Fishing. I have no issue knowing all Mission Names in a 2001 Game...

I passed that mission a month and a half ago. I let the target beach the boat so I could play with it and have fun with it. Never did I see a Sentinel nearby. Either I'm blind or it simply wasn't there.

Well I wouldn't blame you if it wasn't there at all, looks like Lancet was wrong which doesn't really surprise me. I respect his work with his Guides, but he seems off at some points.

Anyways, you said that you have Saves for III. If you want to you can share your Garage/Collection Photos here to show off your Special Vehicles collected. I always love seeing other people's Save Photos. There's not much to talk about III anymore as everything is now fully known.

The Ghost (missing) is "obtainable", but renders your garage useless; the game crashes when you attempt to open it. It could be obtained as a "trophy" of sorts - like the RC Bandit - if you have collected everything else and don't mind the extra storage the Staunton Island garage has to offer, but can only be admired with a Save Editor and similar tools, just like the EC2 Patriot and Romero's Hearse in Vice City, or the PP/PC Hearse in LCS.

I was planning on posting photos of my saves to my "about me" section, and I guess here now too. I really haven't got around to doing it since I have been so busy with GTA V (the game is a grind.) When I do, I will upload them here as well.

You guys sure this car is EC?

I'm not seeing much of a difference...

The left one is the EC one.

Idk but I can say with bare eyes that the right one is more dark red. I have also confirmed that side by side and with an editor. No match for me. Lol properties in GTA III are too old to suspect something imo. It sounds like a GTA V vehicle discussion lol, this one I would understand :D

The Stinger, Infernus and Cheetah from Grand Theft Auto are 10000%-ly Special and EC on all Versions and Platforms.

Mobile Version Colors look weird on Mobile than they do on PS2. On PS2 these Vehicles are Pitch Purple/Red. But you can still see the difference between the EC Cheetah and the Traffic Cheetah.

Even in my III 1st Save Photos, my AP Cheetah is the Red Traffic one and looks a bit similar to the DP/EC Cheetah, but I compared them and they were different Shades of Red.

Still, even if the Body Color wasn't Special, the EC Cheetah has these Red Door Handles and Medallion, whereas in Traffic all Cheetahs have Silver Medallion and Door Handles. The EC Infernus' Body Color itself is not EC and can be found in Traffic, but what makes it EC are the EC Purple/Red Medallion and Door Handles.

How do you guys store the vehicles in SSV without having one of them bouncing around?

I'm doing the exact same thing as you guys, but my cheetah keeps bouncing around and I'm afraid I'll lose it.

Very carefully... You store them in like in the order that me and Mors have in the Photos of the Collections Part of the Guides, try to replicate what we have.

My AP Cheetah also liked to bounce around but when I put it out and back in, it was fine... Though the BP/FP Securicar had worse issues. The Garage Door literally used to damage the Securicar and then it had Black Smoke every time when it opened. But now that I've finished it, it doesn't.

Try to get all six Vehicles out and put them back in, but try to do it carefully and "with a plan."
