I just got a copy of this for PC. Even with 3d ripper and setting the game to one core I still can't get it to work right. Sigh...I just want to have a lil' bit of nostalgia from the ps2 era. Is that so much to ask for?

 

Yes, I tried this method too. The thing would boot up but it just looked crazy, like blue hell.

 

I have it for PS2 and I'm currently looking at an advert of a guy selling a PS2 and an original Xbox for 50 quid. I think I need to avail of this offer.

 

I got mine to work by using ThirteenAG's Fix Here: https://thirteenag.github.io/wfp#latest_updates

 

If you try it and it doesn't work try moving your game out of program files then run the Scarface.bat file. That's how I got mine to work.

Okay, I don't know if it's just me but it's freakin' impossible to make a coke deal on the islands and get it back to a Miami storehouse with all those damn pirates sailing all over the place. I mean the boat they give you to smuggle it in is just so damn weak. Has anybody here been successful at doing this? I don't remember it being as hard as it is now back in the PS2 days...

I remember I had problems with that on PC and it held me back as well but then somehow passed on PS2 without much trouble. Watch YouTube or read walkthroughs for answers.

That's because your gang heat is too high if I remember correctly. If you piss off gangs too much they make you use a crappy speedboat. Keeping heat low allows you to use your gunboats.

There's this mad side-mission out in the islands for a pimp where you have to go around kicking prostitutes in the crotch to check if they're trans or not. Who thought of this stuff?

 

A few tips for lowering gang heat without paying a ridiculous amount of money: Switch to The Enforcer if you own him, and play a few of his missions. This'll take away a lot of your heat and you'll gain a lot of cash. When you have it down to about the half way point, or where gangs stop attacking you on sight, go to rival territories around Miami and intimidate some goons. You can lose a few hundred heat at a time doing this if you're successful and it's fun to listen to Tony getting up in their faces!

Was it the Pedro's Pawnshop mission? The mission can softlock sometimes if you skip the intro cutscene. Just cancel the mission from the menu and start it again to fix the problem.

I just went in and killed everyone. And remember the rage mode? Rockstar definitely didn't straight up rip it off in V...

 

Come on dude. It was almost totally different - rage in Scarface is much more fun. Infinite ammo, and all you had to do was just hold down the fire button.

 

Casting my mind back to this game that was one of the best parts from memory!

This is good to know. I never got it working on my laptop running Windows 10.

I love making drug deals with the supplier that has the miami vice outfit. I still remember when i f*cked up a deal, then a quick cutscene came up where the thugs were robbing and beating up Tony, then out nowhere some thug took a piss on him. I died in laughter right there and then. This is one of those types games where the game illustration is as good as the movie itself.

I think this game is on the whole great but the whole aspect of drug dealing and raising lots of money to progress got very repetitive and boring... pretty much grinding.

 

There wasn't much else to do in-terms of raising money, just dealing really. I wish there was more to do otherwise the game would be a solid 10 in my book.

 

I just used the more balls cheat and went to the sperm bank as it was easier but more repetitive.

Okay, I hate to bump this topic, but I recently picked up a copy of this on PS2 for dirt cheap. As a big fan of the movie, I can say that's it's possibly one of the better GTA clones out there. Some mechanics do f*cking bug me like the over-aggressive cops (that overrun and kill you if you don't lose them in time), but otherwise it's a fine game. The empire building is well handled, the shooting and driving is adequate (love Tony's rage meter), and just generally the ability to play as Montana is satisfying as hell.

 

I do wish they'd licensed more music from the period rather than the out-of-place addition of modern rock and rap songs however. The constant money-grinding does become a bit tiresome as well.

Oh yeah, they definitely handled it better than it could have been. I personally like to consider it canon, though others would be quick to disagree.

Still one of my favorite ps2 games, based on my favorite movie lol. And yeah I agree with the above posts, the story was handled very well. A good "what if?" scenario w/o coming off as cheesy.

You can play Scarface on a 360 since it's part of the backwards comparable system. Despite owning a PS2 copy which I've sunk many hours into, I picked up an Xbox copy from the local pawn shop for 10 bucks so I can go back to it a lot more often.

Flea market or Ebay. I just checked "Sold" listings and the average price paid is $15.00 so that's not too bad at all.

I tried to get it running on my laptop once. Nope, didn't work so well.

 

I didn't know it was backwards compatible on the 360. A trusted website in my country sells the PSP and PS2 versions for 30 euros. There's a wii version too lol, for 22 euros.

 

The xbox version costs a whooping 50 euros. No thanks, can't afford it right now and I'm afraid my gaming money would go for a newer release.

 

I won't forget the pride I felt when a 13 year old me walked out of the game store with a PS2 copy of this game. Bastards didn't want to sell me Yakuza though .

Unfortunately that is highly unlikely. I myself wonder if there will be any digital version of this underrated gem of a game, but nothing is popping out
