[Poll] GTA VI Release Date Predictions

If everything goes smoothly for R* over the next year, I could still see Holiday 2024, but it still feels like Spring 2025 is the most realistic.

 

With that said, waiting a year and some change from Dec 2023, ain't that bad given how long we've waited.. stay strong y'all lol

The builds aren't indicative of development states. So I take back what I said previously. Because there are many build types serving different purposes.

 

GTAV & RDR2 have the following

Bank refers to Rockstar's old debug UI framework. I guess "bankrelease" is a "release" build with "bank" aka debug UI/functionality. It's the main dev build and the most optimized. For example, within GTA Online update files, there's a cache folder and a bank cache folder. The latter is for the dev build. You can find info like who was the dev who exported that and what was the date when that happened.

And I would assume beta is another build with more debug conditions and less optimized. While the debug build is the full-on debug functionality and the least optimized build. The "Americas 2022-09-07 13-04-13" vid was running on that build. The FPS were horrendous, but it makes sense.

 

"Feature Complete" and "Content Complete" would be more of milestones covering all builds. If you check V's builds.xml, you can see notes like

Anyhow, VI is in late alpha stage. The "beta" stage would be the 8 - 6 months period before release. We can expect the release to be, at most, two years away. Unless a similar event like covid happens, the likely release windows are Holiday 2024, Spring 2025 and Fall 2025. And I'm predicting a Spring 2025 release window.

annoying we have to wait so long for it release haha.

But atleast we will finally get to see the game in december and so on. Don't have to wait another year to get the official announcement

I guess Rockstar did hide a message about the next GTA in the last newswire about the radio thing:

Vice City and "IV", we know it will be the city of next gta and "IV" changing the letters order give us "VI".

Maybe it might be their first December GTA release, simply because of being so much under pressure to meet 2024 release date in name only (Dec is practically 2025 already).

 

I am thinking they cannot even hope to think October or November is 2024 possible, ideally not wanting a 2025 release date to piss off people, but if it happens, it happens.

 

What will be bad is if they slip Fiscal Years and enter FY2026.

For anyone buying a console solely for this game, I'd suggest waiting as long as possible. Supply issues aren't really a factor anymore as far as I know, so you should be able to safely wait as long as even a month prior to the game's release, possibly even days before, and still be able to get your hands on one. If you aren't going for a refresh like a hypothetical Pro model, I'd argue it's even more worth waiting because the standard models should get cheaper (especially if you buy used - plenty of people will want to upgrade and get a return on investment for their upgrade).

I have a PS5, not the slim.. I am debating if I need to get pro or I can just use what I have currently and wait for PC unless PC really does come in day one I'll be damn.

This is my plan, I think the PS5 Slim will be much cheaper in 2025 then I will buy it

The problem is because I want the Fat model instead of the Slim one while it's still being sold, I heard that players have been getting problems with its removable disc drive, it suddenly stops working and requires the owner to restart the console or some sh*t, and the older model is also quieter, I don't really care about the Pro too much though to be honest.

I'm gonna say they'll announce for Fall 2024. With it being delayed into Spring 2025. They may even delay further, but there's no way of knowing that, today.

For all Rockstar seem like sadists I don't think they are. I'm sure quietly they're frustrated how long production has taken and will want fans to have the game as soon as possible. Spring '25 at the latest, thought I'm hopeful of a new Rockstar, with a new marketing campaign, that will will release it 1 year from announcement in Autumn '24.
