The announcemt was due in late October but was aborted last minute because of the dreadful mass shooting in Maine. With so little time between that incident (on the 25th of the month) and the T2 call, there was no time to complete the full, original announcement/trailer rollout plan.

 

The Bloomberg report is a very effective 'patch-job' solution to have something out before the call. Although not ideal for Rockstar, it gets the job done. Whether we also see the official announcement before the call is up for debate, but I do strongly believe that this is all a very controlled last-minute change of plans due to world events out of their control.

So if they say Fall 2024 it’ll be released Spring or Fall 2025.  Like many of their previous games.

Unfortunately the vote won't be submitted as I need to vote in the second poll regarding release as well but obviously I'm holding off until they have officially announced it so I can vote with full confidence.

Could be a late 2024, or not. Hard to say at this point, the project is probably massive. If we're to go with Strauss' forecasts, I'd say Oct 2024 to Mar 2025, maybe in the later half.

I have now heard atleast one Youtuber and some persons here in this forum claiming that we will have to wait two years for the release of this game and I will just ask WHY DO YOU THINK SO?

 

The revenue projection got corrected by Zelnick, but just in its quantity not about the When. I think if there is something that would lead Rockstar Games to think that the game has to be delayed that would have been known so far and thus communicated to Zelnick. The game will release in FY2025 which begins around Spring 2024 and ends Spring 2025. Otherwise the increased revenue can't be explained.

 

Yes, I don't want to wait, but again why do people think we'll have to wait additional two years for this game?

People base their opinions on past experiences, but it doesn't really make sense. Some take the game's delay for granted

We have no idea, it's just guesses.

 

GTA V and RDR2 were released two years after the announcement.

 

Also, GTA VI production probably began back in 2016. RDR2 took 8 years of production, and considering GTA VI is going to be even bigger or greater, the amount of time has to be similiar (around 6-8 years). 

 

Plus if you add possible delays (I say possible, because no one knows if they're gonna happen or not) into the equation you got yourself a 2025 release window. Not exactly 2 years from now, but at least 1 or 1.5 years.

I'll say it's going to be announced for September 2024 and then in June or July it'll be announced that it's delayed to November, which will be its final release date, just in time for the holidays.

GTA V was intended for release in Spring 2013, 15 months after the first trailer. 15 months after VI's first trailer would be March 2025, the very end of FY25.

I'm sure that the game is mostly done. It just needs polishing and QA. It even allegedly was already in a polishing/debugging state in the september 2022 leaks:

Assuming they learnt from the previous games, I feel like if Rockstar was planning to release it in 2025 they would not have made a trailer yet. It would be hard to guarantee no crunch for the developers if the game was two years away. With one year to go theres less chance of something having to be cut/delayed and I guess it would be easier to estimate the remaining time it takes to finish the game

 

Im also confident that Rockstar wont release it too early so if something unexpected shows up causing a delay, we wont be getting an unfinished version of the game. RDR2 was extremely well polished at launch and I see no reason why GTA 6 wouldnt be in the same state as that

Exactly, a 2025 release (at least initially) is a bit outrageous. I don’t think 2025 is completely off the table but I feel like it would get delayed to that year if anything.

 

Besides, the fact they announced this game later than usual potentially shows they’ve made a lot more progression this time around before even showing the game. I think waited to get to a point where they were confident in a release (being 2024) with no delays to start marketing etc.

Spring24 earliest, late 24 latest. Anything further than that makes no sense IMHO with the financial forecast.
