It doesn't really matter. If it's true it's an internal deadline which is not meant to be shared to the public AND can shift at all times hence them delaying their games. Also, a much needed reminder that Tez is not an "insider" and his personal speculations are just that.

So i suppose you heard in 2021 that the planned deadline was 2023? And now you go by the assumption a delay happened thus 2024?

I'm not "assuming" anything. I just heard what I said.

I've thought about this, and what if these trailer leaks were real, but delays pushed it back.

Would make even more sense if the theory that after Dan Houser left they changed the story of the game.

*sigh*

There have been no "trailer leaks" and all the Dan Houser conspiracy theories are ridiculous. The Know's report about 'Project Americas' literally came out in early 2018 when Dan was very much still at Rockstar so that makes ZERO sense. Has the vision for the game changed to some degree since then? Most likely. But that happens with every project.

There have been no people who can have a fun thought experiment about some dumb thing like a game and have to take everything 100 seriously.

Untill the game and further details come out we won't know if the trailer date leaks were real or not (I'm not saying they were real in the first place, and likely most of them  weren't) but hey, chances are chances.

I wouldn't call entertaining a thought that doesn't add up a "fun experiment" but you do you I guess :)

They're such amazing "trailer leaks" I don't think I've heard of those, not to mention we've had like 500 different supposed "trailer leaks" in the past few years so :kekw:

:kekw:Might be referring the one with the iguanas I guess?

Nah...

The ones in like 2021.

Ok so again the date has been "leaked" multiple times, I'm just wondering if maybe over the years it might've actually been 1 legit one that didn't turn out cause delays, but who knows and probably not

They will announce it on September 17th of this year for sure, exactly 1 year after all the leaks and exactly 10 years after the launch of GTA V, in a community update thanking the community for 10 years of gta v and an "exclusive look" at the next gta title, and give a screenshot or two.

An official trailer and official details about the game will follow up 2-3 weeks later

It’s embarassing that the game has not even been fully announced yet and there is a 99% chance it won’t be released before 2024.

Even when announced, R* will definitely delay by 6 months at least as usual.

GTA V was released in two thousand f*cking thirteen.

Almost 10 f*cking years ago.

A decade when the biggest selling game of all time didn’t have a sequel guaranteed to make lots of money.

Holy sh*t.

R* is a mess.

and lemme guess, you also think they went a whole decade without releasing "anything", right?

Just wanna make sure the whole package is there.

My personal guess is that we'll get the traditional Rockstar reveal-teaser trailer that everyone does a backflip in excitement over sometime later this year, and then we'll actually get some official information regarding the game like 5-8 months later.

At least, that's usually how it happens, from what I can remember.

I've been of the opinion that Rockstar will change their "usual" marketing strategy with VI because it's already in a unique place compared to previous Rockstar titles with the heavy emphasis on mitigating crunch, the turbulent development during the pandemic and the leaks. I think there's a chance for an announcement earlier in the year, this time. Either late this month, ahead of Take-Two's fiscal year analysis in April or later that same month - in this case, 6 or 7 months would've passed since the leaks and I can see the game having developed considerably since then and a trailer being completed.

They maaayyybbee an announcement in May (like RDR1's debut trailer) since there's also a quarterly investor call early that month too, but if it's not announced by late April/Early, then I'll default to the typical October/November timeframe. As I don't personally see them announcing it in summer. Mind you, I don't think when Rockstar announces their games is determined by Take-Two's earning calls, but if they announce them around the time of a call, it surely gives the investors something to talk about with regards to the stocks rising following the announcement like with RDR2 in Fall 2016.

I'm not attached to any of my personal speculation so I don't take any of this as a guarantee and I'm fine with being completely off-mark. I understand that ultimately, none of us know when the announcement will be and that it could be any day, even if I think certain time frames are more likely than others.

I guess there's earnings call in May so it's a chance, 10 year anniversary, halloween event, holiday time all are probable

Yes, as I said, it could be any day. So I'm not ruling out other dates, the ones I mentioned are simply what I think are most likely. But you did remind me there's an earnings call in May which increases the chances of a late April/Early May timeframe for me. I don't think Rockstar cares much for anniversaries as to announce their next game on GTA V's 10th anniversary, at most they might be a passing mention of VI at a newswire that comes out acknowledging V/Online's anniversary - if GTA VI isn't already announced yet by then. And holiday time generally lines up with my other October/November expectation.

New question all - will we get a countdown for the trailer? 👀

Surely. The servers will also crash once the time is up, as is tradition. :kekw:

Really want a countdown I hope there is one! There will be a topic here like it was with GTA V  :kekw: (I think GTA IV as well)

GTA V didn't have a mysterious countdown like GTA IV did but it would be cool to get a countdown to add to the suspense :kekw:

Hi all,

Now that the dust has settled on GTA V I thought I'd do a little research to see when we can expect GTA VI.

My estimate is 2018. Here's why:

The time period from SA to GTA IV to V followed a similar pattern of roughly 4-5 years in between:

  • SA: 2004
  • IV: 2008
  • V: 2013.

This would suggest a release of either 2017 or 2018 for VI. When you consider that R* are highly likely to release a follow up to RDR soon before they follow up GTA V, then 2018 is the more logical option.

The next question is, when will it be announced? IV and V had a time-frame between announcement to release of 16 months and 18 months respectively. Traditionally, Rockstar released GTAs in the autumn, but IV was released in April and V was originally penned for release in April. If they decided to release VI in April 2018, then we should expect an announcement about 16-18 months earlier, which be between August-October 2016. I'd say this is too early especially as RDR2 is likely to be announced this year and released in 2017. The second option then is for VI to be released in Autumn 2018. Using the same time-frame, that would mean an announcement around February-April 2017. This to makes more sense as it allows RDR2 to be hyped and released without a crossover.

So, in my mind, expect to see GTA VI announced around March 2017 with a release for October 2018.

Apologies for any errors and of course this is just guesswork/gibberish, but I believe this will be fairly correct.

Set your hype-o'clock for March 2017 .

This aged like fine milk.

iirc it just said the day it will happen and the time it will happen.

I think the best thing to do to make sure that rockstar servers don't crash (I mean when you have hundreds of millions of people visiting your site, it would definitely crash it) is to do a YouTube premiere.

It would be the best scenario, giving the countdown before the trailer starts.

Everyone starts dissecting the trailer at the same time.

you mean the forum? Rockstar servers don't have anything to do with it, unless you mean Rockstar's site itself will crash?

It might be on youtube as well that countdown, just like on their rockstar newswire. I see them putting the countdown everywhere to get people ready.
