Has anyone hit a hole in one in GTA Online?

I've still got 3 recent ones sitting on my PS4 that I haven't uploaded, but here's 49 of the ones that I've hit on PS4 so maybe watching a few of my shots will help you get your trophy.

Yeah, but you put more spin on the ball than most mere mortals can generate. ;) (usually not on those shots though)

I played golf consistently for over a year and never got one. I came close (within an inch) many times, but never got one to drop. After I started playing with Bama's crew, it clicked, I'm at 14 hole-in-ones now. I average about 1 every 2-3 days.

The easiest way to get it, IMO, is on hole 6 with the wind blowing 5 mph or greater straight at you. Do fine adjustments if the wind is slightly left or right. Otherwise, aim right at the hole, hit it at 100% and spin forward as much as you can.

My very first hole-in-one:

I usually punch shot hole 3. I've never been able to get one on that hole with a normal shot.

Everyone plays different, but I'll have to disagree with you on a couple of things. On hole 6, if the wind is blowing left or right you don't want to do fine adjustments. My general rule of thumb is to to adjust my aim left/right 2 feet for every 1 mph of wind. If the wind is blowing +5 forward, then you definitely want to use a 3W on normal. Anything that is +1 or +2 forward, use a slight amount of backspin and if it's +3 or +4 you'd better smash your X button. For wind that is blowing in your face, you will definitely want to use forward spin but I don't recommend using a power shot since it's so inaccurate.

For hole 3, I wouldn't recommend trying to get a hole in one with a driver punch shot even though I've made them before. It's just way to easy to screw up on the power and end up way too short or way too far from the hole. If you've got a strong wind in your face (+4 or +5), then I recommend the 7I normal shot with a little forward spin. Otherwise, I usually go with the 6I approach shot since it allows you to put much more spin on the ball. The wind is very tricky on hole 3 too, and I usually try to aim 3 feet left/right for every +1 of wind. You also have to take into account that there is a VERY strong left to right break from the tee box and aim/spin the ball accordingly.

Of course. Maybe I worded it wrong. I meant if the wind is blowing straight back but ever so slightly left or right. (SSW or SSE for example) It's rarely blowing absolutely straight like in the video I posted.

This is an example of what I meant. See how the wind is blowing just a whisper to the left, but overall straight back? I chose not to adjust for the wind there, and ended up having to mildly adjust my spin. Had I aimed a tick or 2 to the right, I could have spun straight all the way. (The wind was also a bit lighter than I like at "only" -4, so I didn't spin as hard as I could have)

But you're one of my mentors, so far be it from me to disagree with you. :)

I found that by playing 9 holes of golf, the higher the chance of you getting a birdie and possibly even a hole-in-one as well so instead of playing 6 holes, set it to 9 and leave it at 9,you can also play golf solo

yeah I haven't as well...still attempting to get this one knocked out,I wish we could have the option to change it from 9 holes to like 100 due how much of a freaking royal pain the hole in one award is along with the birdies at times(however) atleasts the game saves the 9 holes setting when you change it from another number

Nothing quite like having the ball hit the pin, fall in the cup, and then bounce back out.

this applies both in-game and in real life

I gave up on the hole in 1... I just want to shoot under 30.. Last game the other day was terrible, I double bogeyed on like 4 different holes, I shanked every putt except 1 which was actually the longest putt I've ever made.. Ended up with like a 46 or 47... I was embarrassed despite being the only one in the room.

Ah, I remember starting this thread in 2016. Still haven’t gotten a hole in one but I haven’t been trying much so 🤷🏼‍♂️

This video may make some of you completely give up on getting a hole in one LOL.

Yes, on PC. And even managed to give somewhat coherent instructions to a mate for him to do the same (after a relatively small number of attempts).

Congrats!

I'm too reluctant to try this.  I'm fairly certain I know what will happen should I try.  The precise moment I finally get the hole-in-one, the game will cut to a black screen with the message: "You have been signed out of Xbox Live".

I've come close numerous times but still no cigar. It'll happen one day, then i'll be able to sit back at the country club, sip a glass of whiskey, and smoke that cigar

I'd give it a try but for some reason every time my friends and I try to start a golf game my game locks up. It get the "loading" notification in the corner and the screen remains looking at the golf club building. I always have to restart my game just to be able to get back onto the map.

Just disconnect from online for a few seconds.

It happened where most of them happens - on the 6th hole. Not that kind of a suprise after 500+ games :). I still love to play golf with randoms eventually after a long heist-online-freeroam-whatever session - as long as they stay and don't leave. Chilly, but the chat on PC is still bugged (shame you, R*)
