Honestly I've heard both things, and as I haven't played RDR, I wasn't sure, so I ended up believing it was a location within RDR either way. And well, maybe Rockstar wouldn't want to leave people behind in the series, extra sales and all that.

Regardless, not far now, 2 days, hyped.

Is the game uncommon in Portugal or something? I first played it 7 months after it was released.

There's always that platform where the game didn't release. ;)

Oh yea I now get what you're talking about, the Glorious PC Master Race platform.

I'm looking at Google News, theres a ton of websites reporting on a Red Dead remaster. I really don't think that will happen, they've already done a ton of remasters in recent years, also remastering Red Dead seems like it would be too hard to be worth the effort. Remember theres a reason why it didn't come out for PC.

Excuse my big post, but I just moved to a new house so I haven't been able to check this thread in a while

Actually GTA 1 was developed for the PC (MS-DOS) and the Windows and Playstation versions were ports. The Playstation port was actually done by a 3rd party developer.

GTA 2 I'm unsure about the development cycle, but you could switch between noon and dusk lighting. On the Dreamcast, you were locked to dusk setting and Playstation was locked to noon. Running a dusk setting required better hardware for the shadow rendering.

It wasnt until GTA 3 that the Playstation became it's flagship.

But most of those were still PlayStation exclusive, they weren't available on Saturn or N64They were going make a version for the N64, but it never made it. Only GTA 1 was "exclusive" to the Playstation, even though it was a port (which doesnt make it exclusive) from the PC versions. Also to note: GTA London 1969 was a mission pack, not a full game. So of course no one else had it because the N64 version never took off (probably just moved on to the next project) and the Saturn was scrapped for lack of console support which ended before GTA 1 was even released...it had nothing to do with exclusivity. Oh btw...there was a Game Boy Color version of GTA 1. Oh and there was a 2nd mission pack: GTA: London 1961...exclusive to PC.

All GTA's that came before GTA 3 were ports from the PC versions. They were not exclusive. The only reasons why it was on Playstation because it could handle the game and it the console was extremely popular.

Obviously Rockstar has a great working relationship with Sony. Thats why the Sony platforms tend to be their flagships SINCE GTA3. That's why there is the saying: GTA3 sold the PS2, and the PS2 sold GTA3. The one time they deviated from the platform to make some content a timed exclusive, it sold so poorly on the Sony platform that they never considered doing it again.

Truth be told, they probably stick with the Sony playform the most because of the relationship and most of the time, they can flex their muscle on that console.

RDR HD is apparently going to be announced at PSM on Sep. 7th. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1274103

You're a little late buddy; we've been talking about that all day.

Yeah my post was moved here.

People in that thread have made some pretty convincing arguments as to why a remaster seems improbable. For example, why would they release backwards compatibility RDR for Xbox if a full remaster was right around the corner?

Edit: Unless it's going to be Playstation exclusive? argh who knows! Can't wait for some proper info. I think though, with all these "leaks" and rumours in the past few months its pretty clear that something RD related is imminent.

In a perfect world: Redemption Remastered trailer at PSM, everyone is let down. Then, right after, they show a trailer for RD3 and everyones head explodes like that scene in Kingsman.

The game would be getting a full Korean localization this time, as the original game was released with english subtitles and a physical copy of the script translated to korean.

that sounds like a lot of fun for Korean gamers.

Because it's a miracle it even works on consoles, it was slapped together and rushed around until things just made sense, unlike other Rockstar titles from that generation it uses a subset build of the engine, to clear it up, here's how RAGE is broken is broken down...

RAGE ERB1

- Rockstar Presents Table Tennis

RAGE ERB2

- Grand Theft Auto IV

- Midnight Club LA

- Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City

RAGE ERB3

- Max Payne 3

- Grand Theft Auto V/Online

RAGE is developed by Rockstar San Diego, the studio that handles the Midnight Club and Red Dead series, for Red Dead Redemption though it uses neither ERB2 or ERB3, it's like a highly customised split off version of ERB2 mixed with some RB3 features (think of it like a 2.5), The code for that was a complete mess and changes were made daily without being documented during development, and as such no PC version of the code was ever made as they strictly focused on getting the Xbox 360 (which was the main focus of RAGE during ERB1 and ERB2) and PlayStation 3 version of the game stable.

After Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar used the year in which L.A.Noire was being pushed (which doesn't use RAGE) to heavily rework RAGE for a new build which took advantage of both PC and PlayStation 3 features, as well as pushing the Xbox 360 to it's limits, this resulted in ERB3 which debuted with Max Payne 3, which of course had a brilliant PC version compared to the previous PC release which at the time was Grand Theft Auto IV/Episodes from Liberty City.

The ONLY way Rockstar could do a remaster of Red Dead Redemption is if they took the game itself and transfered it over to ERB3 and THEN ported it to PC (which in turn would allow PS4 and XBO versions too), but to salvage that mess of a code and actually put that amount of work into it would cost a lot of man hours.

It's not because "they just hate PC gamers", etc, or anything silly like that, it really is because the game itself is a coded mess and it's a surprise it got stable on 360/PS3, if you look at the assets yourself you can even see things like audio and textures thrown in last minute not packed in the archives properly, etc, as an example of how things were being thrown around right up til gold with the game.

See this guy knows whats up. This is the same as what I wrote a couple hours ago:

I really don't think that will happen, they've already done a ton of remasters in recent years, also remastering Red Dead seems like it would be too hard to be worth the effort. Remember theres a reason why it didn't come out for PC.

Perhaps this should be written on the Wikipedia page for RDR, so people will finally know why it didn't come out for PC.

IGN Middle East even reported on the remaster rumours:

http://me.ign.com/en/ps4/123641/news/rumor-red-dead-redemption-hd-to-be-announced-at-playstation

Did someone from this thread make this video? or is he just lurking here? he reported about that Sony South Africa Twitter post, I don't think that has been talked about anywhere else on the internet besides this thread:

He did bring up a good point though, Sony Europe follows that Sony South Africa Twitter account. If that account was fake, Sony Europe would've told the cops about it.

I see them make it available to play on PS4, but that's it. A resmaster just seems too time consuming.

Plus if you're going to hurt GTA:O activity ($$), it has to be either a new GTA or a new Red Dead where there's a strong online component you can replace GTA:O with.

But the only way PS3 games are played on PS4 is through remasters or PS Now, and if they announce Red Dead for PS Now, that will get the poorest crowd reaction ever.

I did post about it on NeoGAF but it quickly slipped under the radar but my actual tweet got favorited and retweeted by a few Rockstar and GTA fans that the likes of Yan or Game Informer follow etc so you'd only need to search for "red dead" and see it there. I don't think the issue could be the account is fake but more they just probably don't know anything. They've been trying to play it off but it just felt originally like they were trying to stoke some fires when the Red Dead/PSM rumor had just started getting more steam...

Today could be interesting.

You can play older GTAs on ps4 and it's not resmatered versions.

Yeah I'd take a remaster any day.

"Pre-order Red Dead 3 starting this Thursday and get Red Dead Redemption Remastered for free. Start downloading now!"

Atleast people won't complain about it like they did with COD IW.

But those are PS2 games so its a different story.

And those games are pure cash-grabs. The PS4 is more than capable of emulating PS2 games, yet they're making you re-purchase them.

True, the point is a lot of people still pay for it. So r* wouldn't need to waste money on a resmaster dev if all they want is an easy release for fast cash.

A new game on the other hand, hyped is really big already so it would sell pretty good at 60$, then they would just need to milk read dead online until a new gta comes along.

But anyway, I rather not think too much about it as might turn out to be nothing at all lol.

If they are to announce something tomorrow, I can't imagine it'll be just a remaster, I mean it's been nearly half a decade since they last announced a new game, they're more than due a proper new game now.
