Smartphones and iFruit Devices

Throughout our daily lives in GTA, we must've used a source of communication, perhaps it be a Smartphone, or a Telephone. In the previous GTA Games it is current too, but, in GTA: Online and V, the Smartphone is more useful, more detailed, and overall better.

 

In GTA IV, we had the Tinkle Mobile, which lacked a lot of features that our iFruits and Facade inc. Devices have now. In GTA V and Online, our mobiles and Smartphones have been detailed more, and are better to their predecessors in nearly every, single way.

 

In V and Online, we can change the wallpaper, color, and even our ringtones from a selection in the menus. We can take a whole lot more calls and emails, than in previous games.

 

On the other hand, in Online, our smartphones are used for no more than that, emails, messages, calls and snapmatics. Users do not pride themselves in their Devices that they have clearly spent over $100 for, in fact most users only really notice their Smartphone, when it's calling from their cousin or whatever.

 

But What if, we had the freedom to buy new Smartphones for ourselves, so instead of having our quality iFruits, we had a new Facade Device, or a new Tinkle Samrtphone, or even a new Badger Device? Would anything change in how we think of Smartphones in our game, or will we toss it aside like we do now with our devices? Only time will tell.

 

Rockstar has added new clothing, new weapons, new adversary modes, and even new hairstyles. What they have to add, to detail an entirely new genre of customization, to develop our smartphones more than we can think.

 

To do this, they must add new wallpapers, ringtones, colors and brands of smartphones, because our iFruit 9iXs are getting old, fast. They have to add a new iFruit to purchase, or more brands and selections to choose from, such as Facade, Tinkle or Badger.

I'd settle for additional screens and move some of the interaction menu in app form with the ability to buy clothes off the net.

 

 

Ever used a pc online? No need to right. We've had this idea come up a few times I doubt this far along they make any drastic changes like radio on foot.

I thought we could customize the display in Online too. Granted, it's not much but it's something. As long as the interface is kept the same across all variations, adding different brands/models could be an idea for people who always need the latest and greatest (and potentially another way for people to spend money in game). Expect phones that have a price tag of five or six digits though, if the recent in-game price trends are to be followed.

 

Personally I'd settle for a Nokia 3310 as a melee weapon. I could take out an Insurgent with that.

In GTA IV we had Whiz Wireless and Badger, not Tinkle.

 

And lol how does something get outdated if it's constantly taking place before GTA V. GTA O is a prequel, ya know.

 

But yeah would be cool to buy new phone UVs.

Driod is open source. iFruit has a closed ecosystem and is far too restricted for people that enjoy thinking for themselves and making their own choices. Hell - you couldn't even put widgets on the iFruit home screen until the 5th version. Don't even get me started on custom ROMs.

There is so much broken in this game, and there are a f*cking slew of things that would actually add value that we've not even seen a sniff of yet. Can we please not be looking for something as asinine as a choice of phones in a game where they can't even fix the common connection issues and lag problems?

The functionality of new devices would be the same anyway. What they need to have in the ifruit phone is panorama mode (so we don't have to stitch) and the ability to record footage in snapmatic view.

However, On the other hand the purpose of having a phone is to see the functions it has and is rarely about appearance. if we get new phones that do the same thing as the old one (iFruit) then it is pointless.

Some people do buy phones partly because of the appearance. Some people don't care for clothes much. I don't see why new phones would hurt. Probably only be three anyways.

He didn't say your idea was bad, he just said HE WOULD RATHER other things were addressed. I'm guessing he meant game-breaking bugs or complaints. There is nothing wrong with your idea, it's just an aesthetic.

Sure, it won't halt the development of the game for eternity, but it would just be another way for them to detract from the problems by giving us something to look at that's pointless and shiny. Far too many players are letting themselves be swayed by flashing lights, when a product that we all paid for is seriously flawed and at times is unplayable.

 

If they ever release an update where they have actually fixed everything they claim to have fixed then I'll welcome this addition with glee.

I've always been happy that my crew logo displays as my wallpaper on the phone. What can I say? I'm a simple creature. I mean, there's nothing to prevent them doing this. I just imagine it ranks pretty low on the list of "Things to give a f*ck about" in the R* offices.

 

I feel I should point out, however, that our online characters live in a time bubble. They're perpetually suspended in time, 3 months before the events of Single Player, meaning that no new model of the iFruit would ever release.

I can't agree with that. Sure, it won't halt the development of the game for eternity, but it would just be another way for them to detract from the problems by giving us something to look at that's pointless and shiny. Far too many players are letting themselves be swayed by flashing lights, when a product that we all paid for is seriously flawed and at times is unplayable.

 

If they ever release an update where they have actually fixed everything they claim to have fixed then I'll welcome this addition with glee.

Perhaps they should stop making DLC then, because they have to focus on fixing bugs, glitches, etc.

That's all well and good Furry Monkey but considering the corporate and physical resources Rockstar Games possesses, I don't understand why both can't happen simultaneously.

 

You act as if Rockstar can only do one thing at a time like it's run out of someone's garage. They can do this without any harm to any other aspect of Grand Theft Auto V/Online.

Why do you draw the line at phones? There's a long list of items in this game that are "pointless and shiny".
