Hello friends,

After many unsatisfying iterations¬†and plenty of schoolwork and other real-life events getting in the way, I'm happy to say that development is back in swing! ūüéČ

A few notes:

  • The editor is being completely re-written,¬†so the screenshots in the OP are out-of-date. That said, the end result will look similar.¬†I want to move away from Windows Forms because it's outdated technology and looks terrible on our modern high-resolution displays. Instead I'm using WPF, which basically means the program will look and function like a more modern Windows application (not metro, don't fret).
  • The editor¬†supports PSP saves (hooray!), in addition to PS2, Android, and iOS saves. The editor cannot decrypt PSP saves, however decryption is super easy with PPSSPP. I'll include instructions on how to do this.
  • I will be releasing the editor in incremental updates. I'm working on a system that will notify you when a new version of the editor is available via GitHub. This will let me get releases out to you guys sooner. I'm still deciding whether I want to make the first release available before I have this system figured out.

I will post screenshots soon when I have a little more to show. Right now most of my work is on the back-end.

Not quite yet. Stay tuned!

cannot wait for this savegame editor..

PPSSPP support? yey.

Hello friends.

As promised, here are some screenshots of the editor in development.

My plan is to add a couple more tabs, probably "Garage" and "Player Info", then draft up a release so you all can get to editing! :D After that, I will continue development to add more features and refine existing features. Hopefully, I'll have the auto-updater working at the time of the first release so new features will be easy to get.

I'll keep you updated, stay tuned!

goood GTA Liberty City Stories Save Editor

[a logo of some sort will go here eventually...]

Hello everyone! I'd like to announce that I am working on a save editor for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories! The project is currently a work-in-progress and I will release it to the public when it is complete. I began working on the tool in early February and had originally planned to release it in late March, but college, life, and other things have gotten in the way and development has been taking longer than expected. So instead, I've decided to make people aware of the project and provide a place to give out information as development unfolds. :)

All save file research and program development was conducted by me. When the tool is complete, I will post my research to GTAModding.com and I'll probably release the source code for the tool under a "for learning purposes; not to distribute" license.

Features
As of now, the editor supports PS2 saves only, but I've already developed framework that allows me to easily add iOS and Android support, which I will do soon. You can edit general game info, such as the current time, weather, and even some of the game settings! You can also change Toni's clothes, make him spawn anywhere on the map, give him more health and armor than normally allowed by the game, edit weapons and garages, and much more! A full list of features can be found below.

You'll need to use a tool like mymc to extract saves off of the virtual memory card. Once you do that, use PS2 Save Builder to open the extracted archive and access the raw save files.

Spoiler

2xhdwGn.png

There's a bit of a caveat here: the save will more than likely contain a colon (:) character, which isn't allowed in Windows files names. So when you try to extract the save, it'll fail silently and appear like nothing happened. The solution is to rename the file in the PS2 Save Builder by triple-clicking on the file and removing the colon.

Spoiler

eTT1AYs.png

Now, right-click on the file, select Extract, and now you can open the extracted save in the save editor. When you're done editing, use PS2 Save Builder to add the edited file to the archive, save, and re-import the archive into the PCSX2 virtual memory card using mymc.

Note: If you're comfortable using the command-line, you can do all of this in less steps using the "mymc extract" and "mymc add" commands.

Doesn’t seem to work for ppsspp save game files. I keep getting an error message that it is not a valid save game file despite following all the directions to decrypt it

I'm sorry it's crashing for you. What version of Windows are you running? When it crashes, a log file should be created in the same folder as the program. Can you upload the crash log to pastebin or send it to me in a DM, please?

Doesn’t seem to work for ppsspp save game files. I keep getting an error message that it is not a valid save game file despite following all the directions to decrypt it

Hmm, after setting "EncryptSave" to "False" in ppsspp.ini, are loading your game and then re-saving it? Also, make sure your ppsspp.ini file doesn't have both "EncryptSave = True" and "EncryptSave = False" inside of it.
If you're still having trouble, you can send me your save and I can decrypt it for you. Upload it to mega or mediafire and DM me the link.

I decrypted the save because it shows up on the list all the tabs except the garage work I will send you the crash log and two saves just in case nothing works to fix the problem can you do me a small favor and edit the vehicles in the staunton garage like this

save 1:

Deaddodo

save 2:

Ferry

Train

Aeroplane

I would greatly appreciate it the reason why I ask is because I'm working on a game save database.

Also mediafire isn't working properly for me I did sent them to your Gmail that I got from the crash log.

Since there's a playable version of LCS on PC do you consider adding a support for it? I'm not talking about emulators.

Possibly, but not any time soon. The problem with supporting re:LCS is that it uses the Vice City save format (last time I checked), which is very different than the native LCS save format, meaning I'd need to re-write a large portion of the save editor in order to add support. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious.

That being said, I am working on a big update for the GTA3 Save Editor and GTA3 saves are very similar to GTAVC saves, so it may be possible to port some of the functionality from the GTA3 Save Editor over to this save editor for re:LCS support. We'll see... no guarantees though.

You should make this support the RE LCS mod for vice city engine.

I talked about this a few posts up. Basically I need to do a large overhaul of the save editor to support re:LCS saves (since it saves using the Vice City format).I'll probably support re:LCS in the future, but I've got other plans at the moment, one of them being a big update for the GTA3 Save Editor.
