How long do you think rockstar will keep updating gta online and where do you think gta 5 will be in 5 years

Online is supposed to be a persistently updated world, as in never ending, i'm sure that's what Rockstar said the aim of it was, that it just would keep evolving with the times.

SP ( PC ) will be definitely good, thanks to the modders giving the sandbox high replay ability to last long.

Online, don't know. But I hope it fails; something worse do happen with problems like servers constantly crashing, connections getting destroyed, the hackers should have much easier time cheating, etcetra..

I thought OP meant, what is the life span of our online characters? I think it should be about 200 hours of online play. Then you have to start again with a new character. That would make the game more interesting.

 

On topic: As long as there are a few millions 8 year olds having birthdays each year, GTAV will keep on going.

I get the feeling GTA Online will carry on for this entire generation as its own thing. 5 is done, they've already hinted that 6 is underway, in some small way or another. I think V as a game has as long a life span as any game. Some people will continue to play it for years and years, others won't. The life span isn't really determined by Online anymore. It is its own entity, as are the SP games.

 

Future GTA games on the current generation will just slot in alongside Online, I reckon. V will be seen as anomalous in this respect as it was released bundled with Online, which really was just a way of establishing it, and allowing it to become its own thing. Other games may well get the same sort of minor updates as V did originally, but I doubt it. I think that was more a reflection of the older platforms and the way content had to be added than anything else. Now, it seems like they're able to bypass the SP game when it comes to updating Online, which is bad in some ways, good in others.

I agree! Its such an unbelievable game with incredibly support for the Online part of it that people will be playing this one for a very long time, and with great reason!
