Carl Montana 223
Guys, my friend has an issue. We bought and installed GTA V on his Intel i5, 4GB RAM and Raptor graphics, but when he start a mission, framerate is below 10. What should we do? RedDagger
Those are pretty vague specs, would you be able to get more specific ones? use windowskey+r then type dxdiag in the box that pops up and press enter, useful info is "processor" under the system tab, and "chip type" under the display tab. yoloswag420xd
First you need to tell us more about his specs. He could have something like a 1st gen i5 thats bottlenecking his GPU and we wouldn't know if you don't give specifics. Also, what are Raptor graphics? Are you talking about AMD's Radeon? I have never in my life seen a graphics card called "Raptor" lol. Edited March 22, 2016 by fofofofofofofofo
DentureDynamite
4GB may be enough to get GTA 5 to load, but it's not enough to play if you want a decent framerate, IMO. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 8GB for anyone's PC for modern-day gaming...
Spider-Vice
4 GB shouldn't drop your framerate below 10 FPS though. What is a Raptor graphics card? Uncle Sikee Atric
i5, 4 gig ram and Raptor graphics.... It's not a good enough spec at all. We can work on the theory you don't really know what is in the box, so it's a ready built desktop or laptop. 4 gig of RAM is not enough and I bet the 'Raptor Graphics' is a very basic card as well. I know you'll have to upgrade the RAM first to 8 gig minimum, but I suspect the GPU may need upgrading as well.
Spider-Vice
There isn't even anything remotely close to Raptor graphics. I'm almost thinking this is a low grade Radeon card. 4 GB of RAM shouldn't cause constant lag, if anything it causes stuttering once it runs out, for the game to be below 10 FPS then it has to be the GPU that is probably super basic. Either what I said or it is an Intel integrated chip. southparkmayor
What do you mean by raptor graphics? Are you sure, that the laptop is not running on intel HD and not the GPU??

It can be some Nvidia, I don't know which really
RedDagger
we're going to need the specific graphics card, otherwise we can't really help you - again, it's chip type under display for dxdiag.
swebarb
Nobody if using a good GPU calls it raptor lol.. i bet its some built in crap so ofc u get only 10 fps.. give us exact model but i bet its a real bad gpu.... And this game loves ram even 8gb sometimes is not enough ,its good have today since u must have 64bit windows to run this 16gb of ram... 4 is not enough for this game at all sorry... ZCAB
"Raptr" is a gaming network thing that comes installed with mobile AMD graphics. It says nothing about which chip he actually has; it could be the lowest-end one they have. Despite it being an i5, the 5200u is only a lower midrange laptop CPU that's built for efficiency rather than performance. The fact it's in this laptop doesn't give me hope that the GPU is anything special either. All this, combined with only 4 GB of RAM, makes me think your friend is overestimating the gaming potential of his computer.

I have a decent mid end rig; i5 3570K, EVGA GTX 970, 8GB Corsair Vengeance Dual channel DDR3 RAM and one thing I have noticed about GTAV is that it had terrible memory management. Rockstar tells us that 4GB of RAM is sufficient, it is not. One thing you could try is increasing the size of the pagefile so that extra memory can be recycled using the HDD. It helped my game run better. Also some people can have problems with v-sync so try turning it off to see the difference also so make sure that he has optimized his game in GeForce Experience and using GeForce control panel make sure the global settings are the same as the in game settings. LawasDS
What the hell are "Raptor Graphics"? 4GB Ram might be low. i5 could be more than enough or barely acceptable depending on the model.
Jeffrowxpmax
It's nothing more ram, new card and maybe some other stuff can't fix.
