My Idea for GTA Online Lobbies:

GTA Online has been met with mix reactions since it's release. I personally enjoy it however, that doesn't mean that there isn't room for vast improvements.

 

One thing that really made GTA IV work was the lobby settings feature where you could choose to have police spawn, friendly fire on/off, etc.

Now in GTA Online, we are all inhabiting a world where the cops spawn regardless, players enter passive mode and everyone has car and a sh*t tonne of cash. Thus creating a world where players are afraid of losing their cash and don't like conflict in the game.

 

But that's not what everyone wants. GTA IV Multiplayer's success was down to the fun of glitch hunting, randomly racing each other and helicopter fights at the airport and so on. There is fun to be on GTA Online but I just feel that it's missing a spark that IV's multiplayer had.

 

This may take some work but I think there should be a lobby for passive players, a lobby for those who want to make money/drive their fancy cars and a lobby for players who simply want to kill each other/cops/search for glitches/etc.

Maybe they could have names also i:e

- Passive Lobby

- Get Rich Lobby

- Free For All Lobby

 

Let me know what you think and which lobby would YOU pick? I personally would pick the Free For All Lobby.

You'll probably be told that you're a whiner for even suggesting that improvements could be made to the game.

 

Not by me of course. Yeah we could do with more lobby options. As it is we've got a "one size fits all", and it fits hardly anyone.

Nice idea, shame this will never be added in the game. I'm always in passive mode so i would pick the passive lobby.

Yeah, generally I'm happy with GTA V and would normally be aggravated by people picking things from out of nowhere to bitch and moan about but this has been the one issue I have. What you said makes a lot of sense, it doesn't really fit anyone as there's so many play styles now unlike IV where it was kill or be killed.

 

I think it's a steep bit of work to do considering what would have to be added/removed for each lobby but I think it would do well in the long run.

Out of those options i'd have to pick the Get Rich Lobby. If I had more choices though i'd respectively pick;

- No aim assists (at all)

- No player blips on minimap (can call Lester for "On the Radar")

- Open proximity chat only (can always chat with friends/crew/org)

- No health regeneration

 

Only problem is I think It would get pretty lonely in that lobby. Not because of the lack of blips, because not many players would join unless there was a significant cash bonus depending on the settings.

I do miss going in friendly lobbies in rdr and friendly fire off lobbies in gta iv where I could do what I want without someone making me get into a firefight with them because they want to freeroam deathmatch every second.

Great ideas, I'd also add to be able to customize lobbies accordingly. Though, I think before we go for different lobby types, R* should migrate to a dedicated server architecture over the current P2P architecture. They will have to move eventually as P2P is probably nearing the end of viability of GTA:O.

I think it's because it just has so many features that take away that GTA feeling.

The VIPs for example just seemed unnecessary. It's fun killing them and if you're in dire straits for cash, then being a bodyguard works but GTA IV's fun spanned from you and a friend being world beaters and killing everyone in sight or you and a random player banding together to take out a common enemy.

 

GTAO is great fun but on top of the lobbies I mentioned, Cops N' Crooks, Car Jack City, etc should have been added before bringing in the newest features in my opinion

Considering this idea has been proposed a thousand times already, and that Rockstar still haven't taken it into consideration, I don't think we'll be seeing friendly and no cops lobbies any time soon.

 

I still don't know what goes through the heads of theirs though.
