darkgreenmeme
"Don't ask me how I know but Merryweather are holding some seriously hush-hush tech at the docks. Some kind of electromagnetic weapon about to be shipped out to someone dangerous. We can't let that happen. The device is in a trailer so you'll need a truck to move it. Check one of the industrial areas nearby. Good luck. They've got a lot of men on this so go prepared."Lester Contact Mission, 1-4 Players, Opens at L40 [GTA Wiki] Feel free to discuss your favorite methods and techniques for playing this mission, and disseminate any information about how the mission might change between updates. darkgreenmeme
The way I usually do this one is to get on the roof of the yellow building by the road intersection to the west, and thin 'em out by sniping them. Go to the dock and clean up, then go and get a tractor from the industrial plant to the east and take off with the trailer. When the pursuers show up, pull over and shoot 'em dead if the grenade launcher doesn't take care of them.
Gridl0k
Get in PV, drive across the front of the lot taking out 3-4 enemies on the way, pull up and attack through the fence from the North. Guys behind the fence like having a grenade thrown at them, but don't throw too far. Very definitely a mission where I activate the trucks then get out to fight off the 6-8 incoming grangers, usually with a minigun or RPG. If playing with randoms they'll speed off in the trucks, so try and get on top of a trailer to provide anti-Granger support. Know Your Trucks: Phantom is fastest, followed by Packer (they both look like Peterbilts). The flat-fronted trucks are much slower. Ignore the GPS' left turn at the highway intersection in favour of driving straight on, up the hill and round to the destination. Faster, smoother and an easier entry to Lester's. Edit: I was thinking of "Four Trailers" hurr durr Edited March 23, 2016 by Gridl0k darkgreenmeme
Rammer2k
I remember this being the first mission I did with the Super Soldiers called Merryweather. They would take a Heavy Sniper round to the head, and just laugh it off. My way of doing this is parking my PV at the left dock, and snipe as many as I can. I'll MG any dudes that get near me. After that, I'll drive down, and mop up any stragglers with either Assault Shotgun, or Special Carbine. I'll go grab the truck with the tanker on it, and release it in the middle of one dock. Plant a proxy and move on to the trailer. Plant another proxy down the other dock and hook up the trailer. It's always a nice explosion when Merryweather triggers both proxy mines, along with the tanker. Sometimes there'll be another SUV that tumbles into the water. Then it's like shooting fish in a barrel since they can't fire back while trying to swim to shore. Once everyone is done, I'll drive the truck, and head out, going up that little hill ramp. One thing I can't believe is just how narrow they make Lester's warehouse. I once caught the trailer on a fire hydrant, and it destroyed it, causing me to fail the mission right at the end. darkgreenmeme
IceDree
I approach from the north using the smaller secondary dock with the containers on it. I take out the Patriot with the Grenade launcher first, the explosion will catch them by a surprise & take out a few guards as well. Then I switch to the Heavy Sniper (the personal vehicle & containers will provide a good cover) & go for headshots ... Once I took everyone I have visual of, I approach the trailer with the Assault Shotgun ... There's always that one guard hiding behind the trailer. Once I pick up the trailer, I find a nice area I can control & wait for Merryweather's back up to show up... After all said & done ... I keep on trucking to the destination. ________ Next time I try it, I'll try approaching from the south using my JetMax & take em out from a distance. ________ Tip: If you use a busy street for the shoot out with Merryweather's back up, beware of the freaked out NPCs & use that to your advantage. It always crack me up to see the guards run over by NPCs Edited March 23, 2016 by IceDree Semaj 2JZ♢

IceDree
By the way, is there any difference between the regular NPC Patriots & the ones Merryweather guards use in this mission? I noticed I can't store them in my garage.

I noticed I can't store them in my garage. That's due to them being spawns as part of the mission but I don't believe there are any differences from regular Patriot. darkgreenmeme
Has ahyone found a parked truck other than the Phantom already hooked up to the Tanker trailer? "Out of Harmony" has a least 4 trucks that I've found.

The mercs even get pissed and start shooting the NPCs. I about lost it one night when 4 NPCs were crashing around in my sniper scope. Them mercs were sooo pissed that they were getting attacked. Those NPCs did not have a f*ck to give.

It's a long drive or a longer swim though. Edited March 24, 2016 by Gridl0k
DentureDynamite
Interesting tidbit on GTA Wiki about this mission (Trivia section): "The Merryweather guards can survive multiple headshots from the Sniper Rifle and have greatly buffed health in this mission. This was intentional by Rockstar as to make this mission significantly harder, regardless of the difficulty setting." Explains quite a bit about R* actually; exposes them as pretty big hypocrites (i.e. they hate it when players cheat, but they have no problem giving unnatural, inconsistent health to NPCs--and clearly unfair to players--simply to make a mission "harder".) Let's not forget their mini-gun rate of fire for SMG's, AR's, and MG's, plus pin point accuracy from over a mile away that zaps your health in the red in a second.
