Why are people so defensive on being assholes?

You kill random people who are doing their own thing, you're probably an asshole.

You kill random people either in combat or doing their own thing, in a jet? You're a cheap asshole.

Get used to it. Play like an asshole, get called an asshole. It is, as you all said, what it is.

What amazes me is being called an ass insults you. I'm insulted that your only hard ass mindset on a game that has way more than just killing is.. killing.

I play like an asshole. The GTA community is made around assholes.

R* just made it debatable about the game with sh*t like bad sports, and encouraging community meets, but then also allowing sh*t that's crazy like the jet and tank, etc. I firmly believe R* has no idea what the f*ck they want out of their game.

So if someone kills in a GTA game in a FREE roam session where friendly fire is on by default, and there is a vast collection of weaponry, then they're an asshole? They're an asshole because they killed someone in a video game? Someone should be judged due to their virtual actions?
Yeah.

I mean, I'm not going to feel bad. It's GTA. They offer how many modes to go trash people. In free roam, if your REALLY have to go balls out in combat, you can look hard enough and find the red dots or take part in combat that I guarantee is already happening.

9/10, the people in here go after random people shopping, cruising, minding their own business.

As said, you do it? You're an asshole. In a jet? A cheap asshole.

Comes down to picking and choosing your fights. And the old saying, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I don't grief in jets, and I find them extremely annoying. In fact, I've been in huge favour of friendly lobbies since day one, and they still haven't implemented them yet, or should I even say 'yet'? If there were friendly lobbies, I would playing in those 90 percent of the time. But to call people assholes for killing randomly in lobbies where it's intended is asinine. No. Not really.

If you're at a point where you avoid in engaging in combat with people who are ready for combat, to target some low levels, people shopping, anything out of combat? You're an asshole.

I wouldn't be saying it if this was GTA 4 and the premise of the entire damn thing was combat. There's just way more here to do, which is why I feel it's really debatable that senseless killing in this game is the main intention.

Well, deal with it. They're gonna be people going after you whether you like it or not. There's not much you can do about it, to be honest, other than to to go in passive mode or play solo. Friendly lobbies, like I said, should be the best solution. It worked great in IV, so I don't know why Cockstar got rid of it.

I'm more dangerous to my self in a jet than anyone else lol (f***ing keyboard) so I just jump sessions. On last gen, if I saw you heading for the military base or Already in a jet I'd go after ya

But in the hands of someone who feels like being a d**k, jets can be a monumental pain.

I don't think they need any massive changes, mind you. Just that we could do with more weapons/vehicles to fight jets with.

As someone who uses pretty much everything in the game, I can safely say I'm not a "whiner", or a "griefer". I'm just calling it as I see it.

Players with bounties, those racist pos kiddies, red dots other aircraft that are being a bitch and just kiddies in general if i hear em on the mic. I love torturing those litte annoying as kiddies in my Hydra. Feels good to teach them what real power is sometimes

thats exactly the f*ckING MAIN REASON why ppl like griefing in first place, to feel power. i see an adult teaching a child a lesson by acting childish? wtf? age is not the problematic constant in this formula.

Out of topic but you guys reminded me a few days ago a low-level tried to ran me over with a Ubermacht. He failed, I killed him, killed him one more time and then called my car to go away. My active car happened to be my Blade, and as I made my way the guy was in the middle of the road so I hitted the gas as ran him over. I wasn't expecting it to kill him but it did, probably because of his low health, and I laughed and it and texted "that's how you run over somebody". That is the power :D

again... next one please. lets make a hattrick!

For someone calling himself a ground gunner, that's just mind boggling.

I will wait and see if anyone who played IV chimes in.

The Annihilator from IV didn't have explosive rounds, and had a cool down on its miniguns.

If you think that's in any way comparable to a jet then ... uh ... You need help.

Everything. Any time. Any place.

Anything that moves, really.

If you fire a homing rocket at me, I'll just think you want to play some more. ;)

If you go into passive mode in attempt to get your own jet, I'll make sure you never get into it whether you're off the radar or not. I know where you are at all times. You'll be on my hit-list for the duration of the session or until one of us leaves for whatever reason (it's going to be you rage-quiting).

If you don't like getting griefed, go into passive mode, go "ghost" (it's not that useful from what I've encountered), go into your apartment, join a job, or just leave the session entirely. In any case, it's going to be a lost cause trying to retaliate.

I grief in jets with a partner and we sweep lobbies clean.

NOPE! I faced off against you and your boy, you got 2 kills on me, then I used off radar, then ghost organisation along with bribe the cops. All to get a Lazer, I then ripped apart you and friends Hydra right out of the sky. Directly after, you and your friend left the session, never to be seen again. Just like a typical jet clown, the second the tables were turned, you couldn't run away fast enough.

I must assume that you remember every kill you've gotten but don't remember every time you've died. I am humble enough to admit I've been killed many times and learned from my mistakes, but don't try excluding yourself by implying that you don't pull the same pussy sh*t.

It's easier now then it was then.

It could get a few kills on cars driving, or half - wits running in circles on foot. It can still do that now. Big deal.

You literally can't get any less overpowered than an Annihilator.

Other c*nts in jets wasn't listed as an option OP

^ Only reasonable reason for killing somebody in a jet. Otherwise you're a c*nt

While it wasn't directly listed, "armed aircraft that are aggressive" is still equivalent to "other c*nts in jets".

My "code" is simple. Neutral until attacked; then attack the attacker. You are then considered a hostile and you will be monitored as long as need be until considered non-hostile.

The only time you should attack in a jet is if you are being attacked or will be attacked.

There's still a pretty big difference between any helicopter and a jet. Getting a jet to kill a helicopter griefer is like getting your army vet dad to beat up an 11 year old bully. Edited by Shneb

Thanks for that shadow, blast from the past! Have to agree with you too, you guys do need something other than HL and vanilla rpg...minigun is lame. I would think you of all people would love something akin to a drone where you could ground jets without having to use one? Ive gotten more than a few hovering hydras with my grenade launcher, which is...SOOO satisfying :)

Oh well. I am the only one here who played IV. Back on topic.

You're not the only one. But perhaps you spent more time at the airport than going through other parts of the city.

Yeah, a decent pilot could get lots of kills with the Annihilator back then. But I think I can safely say that the game has changed enough for that to be difficult now. The first kills the pilot in that video gets would be the unlucky newbies in GTA:O's Los Santos. Most other players won't just drive around slowly, making it easy for someone with machine guns to slowly damage their vehicle or shoot them through the window.

I'm not the best pilot myself, but I'm faster than that. Even with something as small and quick as a Buzzard, you're still running the big risk of players using cover and other things like going off radar to shoot back at you.

Back then, that was an easily accessible armed vehicle with not a lot of alternatives, now we have a bunch more armed aircraft. People invest more time in those. Different times! The game is different and I think I can say that the people are different.

Annihilator then isn't the Annihilator now. Or at least it's not in the same place on the foodchain. Personally, I don't feel threatened at all when someone comes near me with one in GTA:O, I would've been more careful in IV.

Even though earlier it might have been the terror of the skies (again, to a different community, including people who make themselves easy prey, to be fair), it doesn't have explosive rounds, missiles and it is big and relatively slow. Noone can deny that the combat efficiency of the Annihilator is inferior to that of every other armed aircraft in the game right now. Perhaps excluding the Valkyrie, but only if it's without passengers.

I only use a jet if someone else in a jet kills me. I usually dispose of mine right after I get em back though. Aerial combat in this game is pretty sh*t imo. At least compared to the other games Ive played. That and most pilots are pretty bad themselves, but to each their own I guess.

I knew of 3 or 4 annihilator pilots that if you weren't indoors you were dead.

I didn't. The annihilator was always disposable. Especially when you left the airport which was open ground.

I'd easily say the annihilatior now is especially sh*tastic.

Yeah, it's just a bad joke now. Laughable thing.

The old IV Annihilator wasn't some beast though; not by a long shot. Why else do people think Rockstar gave it explosive rounds in EFLC?

Ive seen one person comment about Joey and I lmao xD Its so funny too,"Duh i beat your ass" Bitch when? You can fabricate your own story but, I stream constantly, and get everything I do on recording, lol, ive seen some of you fools say "Duh im glad to see these people calling these trash losers out" Like whaat? Joey and I rarely ever die.. We know how to play it smart, and we know what we are doing, the only time we ever get taken out? Is when someone pulls some pansy sh*t and goes off the radar right before the attack :) Or when someone suicide bombs into us. If your going to lie about killing us, please do make your story seem just a wee bit more legitamite. Seeing as how there was a person saying he killed us after he went ghost, we were in bad sport together, and this kid went ghost after being afk, and we eventually left because the kid was hiding in passive mode :) .

I don't think there's any point holding a huge grudge against people who fly jets - not everyone uses them purely to pick on people, and people like myself generally just use them to even the odds against huge crews. But in the hands of someone who feels like being a d**k, jets can be a monumental pain.

The underlined part is what skews the opinions of people against jets, and you're right; not everyone who uses a jet is a tool. I can be a total pain in the ass with my Buzzard (love that thing), but I know I have a limited life expectancy. sooner or later someone will get a solid lock that I can't shake and that's the end of that. Not so with some jet pilots.

It's the pilots who keep going back for a tenth ground kill that piss people off. that's when my disgust level starts cranking up. There's a few posts on this forum from players who say they're only happy when they clear a session. Does that mean that they want the session to themselves? Rather, it's the ultimate goal of the griefer: to ruin other peoples' game, and that's what really annoys players. Knowing that the person your fighting just wants to ruin your enjoyment not engage with you.

Once they've cleared a session, they don't enjoy the 'spoils' of a now empty session, (why not go IO?), they move to another session and do the same. It's a very sad individual who gets their kicks from that kind of play. Unfortunately, those kind of players don't give 2 fu*ks about anybody but themselves.

I'm way more into helicopters these days myself too. Jets stop being challenging after a while, and then it's just not that entertaining if you've got no chance of dying at all.

Helicopters on the other hand. They're just a lot more fair, and, in my opinion, more fun because of that.

Jets ... I only really get them out if there's an absolute scumbag in the session, or some huge crew is picking on me/other lone players. But more often than not jets are in more devious hands, and are just used for being a d**k to people who've done nothing to deserve it.

I've said it before, but we could really do with a tank like this in gta to help out:

You must believe everything you read on the Internet. LOL! No critical thinking skills. Tsk.
