ctrdias
Hey guys, first post here. I am a huge fan of the GTA series, such a fan that i only buy a console just to play a GTA game. I have played all the GTA's since GTA 3, and now i have a question to you guys: I want to buy a PS4 to play GTA V on it (although i have already played it on PS3), and to play future GTA games. The question is, do you think that a 500GB PS4 is going to be enough just to play GTA V and future GTA games to PS4? I know that GTA V already needs 60GB of memory, but how do I know if the empty space will be enough for the next ones? A 1TB PS4 is more expensive, and I don't know aswell if I will need so many free space. Thank you guys.
plsdeletemyprofileN0r0k
you can always upgrade the HDD when you need it, and a 1TB HDD costs about 100$ (i guess the PS4 uses the smaller sized ones so they cost a bit more) but yeah 500GB will be enough for a while. i have one and never ran into space problems, and i played some games on it without uninstalling anything

TheTechPoTaToCHIP
GTA V is 60GB, the next game would probably also be 60GB (50GB at launch) and given Rockstar's track record of releasing GTA's almost every 5 years, the most likely scenario is that the next GTA would probably be the last GTA on PS4 so all in all, every GTA game for PS4 (current and yet to be announced) will more than likely just take 120GB of memory at the most. PS2 had GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty Stories and Vice City Stories PS3 had GTA IV, Lost and Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA V I just don't believe PS4 will only have 2 GTA's. And GTA after GTA, the graphics are better, the story and the city are bigger, this Online thing, etc.. So it will always take more space over the time

So it will always take more space over the time Yeah but TLAD and TBOGT were DLC's and haven't you noticed the time between major GTA games has been exponensially getting longer? At this rate the next GTA game will be released near the end of the console generation, I mean Rockstar hasn't even released a new game since they focused on GTA Online so their next game wouldn't even be GTA since I think they would want to work on another IP next before they release another GTA game. So as I said, the most likely scenario for the PS4 is that it only gets 2 GTA games so you will only need about 120GB that is unless Rockstar finally delivers with the SP DLC which would bump up GTA V's file size anywhere from 5GB to 15GB. As for GTA games being bigger, Rockstar still needs to compress the game to fit on a blu ray disc so at launch the new GTA game wouldn't be much bigger than 50GB. chilleverest
500gb for only gta games ? i guess that would just about be enough. saintsrow
Pink Pineapple
I just don't believe PS4 will only have 2 GTA's. Well, it doesn't even have 1 yet. The V port with a few little additions doesn't count. V is last gen's game. This generation will most likely only get 1 new GTA. The best case scenario is if they release a big story mode DLC for V and then GTA VI in a few years towards the end of this generation. saintsrow
ChiroVette
The additions to the next gen console and PC version of GTA V are really nice, I have to admit it. I am enjoying the hell out of modding my PC version. But unfortunately, Pink Pineapple is right that there is no real "next gen" GTA yet. IV and V are both PS3/360 games that while they look much nicer on the PS4/XBOne and PC and have a bunch of cool new features, I don't think I would go buying a new console just for this, when you already have the PS3 version. If you didn't own 98% of what's on the next gen version already, like say you hadn't bought it yet for the PS3, then maybe the console just for GTA would be worth the buy. Do you have a decent gaming PC that can run this game? If so, that might be a good route to go and was what I did. The "Returning Player" bonuses are also nice. I just don't see how its worth it to pay $300.00+ for a console just for one game, particularly when you already own it. Now, if you were thinking of getting a PS4 for the coming new Ratchet & Clank games or the new Uncharted, or you were going to get an XBox One anyway for one of the coming Halo or Gears titles, or hell, even if you were a CoD, BF, or Madden junkie and were getting a new console for any of those titles coming, then fine, go for it. But to buy a brand new console PLUS the game for two GTA titles and episodes you already own? I don't see it. Cheatz/Trickz
The 500 will be fine I think lol, and I reckon there'll only be one GTA this gen, because by the time it is released the next consoles will be too close to make another. That and it's been 3 years and there's still no word on a new game from any of Rockstar's franchises. So it will always take more space over the time I'll just trot out my old graph here that indicates that we will be lucky to even get one new GTA in this console generation, as others have pointed out above. The time it takes to build these detailed GTA maps is going up exponentially. Furthermore, there are already rumors of a PS4.5, with 4K video output. Bottom line is that you should be safe if you truly will only be putting GTA games on the console. Edited March 21, 2016 by saintsrow
