RyanBurnsRed
I've only played BF3 on the PS3 back when it was still relatively fresh. It was a pretty good experience I found. Least I had a ton of fun with it. I can't really answer your question because I don't know what you mean by best and I've never played the other 2 games on PS3 On PC though I would still prefer BF3
Cosmic Gypsy
BF3 for me, BF4 isn't that much of an improvement, was unacceptably unfinished last time i played it which was still maybe a year and a half after release and Hardline is sh*te. Bad Company 2 is better anyhow. Edited March 21, 2016 by Cosmic Gypsy
PoeticWhisper
For PS3, BF3. BF4 is made for 64 players, it feels empty as hell on last gen. Hardline is a waste, not that good of a game and lacks a crap load of content. I agree with the above, Bad Company 2 is best.
bloatedsack
which is the overall best game for PS3? Battlefield 3. BF4 was truly awful. BFH was a cash grab and has been abandoned.
Gremlin Sombra
For PS3 I would say BF3 because I loved the maps in that game. Besides that there isn't much of a difference between it and BF4. Also I can't picture the other games being popular because everyone probably plays those on current gen. KilnerLUFC
I'm still pissed they took down the servers for BC2, was such a brilliant MP game...saying that though, the campaign is one I could play through numerous times. I've never completed the BF3 campaign so can't really comment on this one, but again, the MP was good. Out of the 3 options though, BF4 is the one I've spent the most time on MP though, yes it has it's bugs and whatnot still, but it's still a fantastic experience. For PS3 I would say BF3 because I loved the maps in that game. Besides that there isn't much of a difference between it and BF4.Also I can't picture the other games being popular because everyone probably plays those on current gen. Not the case at all. Can log on to BF4 and still get a full lobby at all times on the 360. Hardline should never be mentioned... otachi

Member's Only
Hardline is an irrelevant piece of dogsh*t. BF3 and BF4 are both equally good. Avoid Hardline like the plague, one of the worst FPS of all time.
CrysisAverted
Hardline is ok if you like cops n robbers stuff but not that fun BF4 I totally regret purchasing, just feels broken and boring, though I guess the singleplayer looked f*cking noice BF3 was pretty damn fun, probably my pick of these 3 but BC2 is the best! Daz
BC2 servers still work, it's just there is rarely anyone on them, which is a damn shame as it's easily the best console battlefield ever. As for the topic question. BF3 I guess would be better for older gen, but BF4 is pretty fleshed out and decent enough. Hardline sucked a big one. If BF4 runs fine on old gen get that I guess. Probably have more people on it.
PoeticWhisper
I was gonna say, they definitely didn't shut them off when it went gold. Cause I started playing it again after that happened and the servers were quite full for once.
KilnerLUFC
I just kept getting hit with connection errors whenever I tried to join MP, even tried spamming it to no avail. Web is alive with hundreds saying the 360 servers got taken offline, but then one post says there is literally like one server for each mode, and you have to spam it just to get an empty slot. Shame really, absolutely loved BC2, and rather annoying since only a month or so prior I'd purchased the Vietnam add-on. Hard to know what the OP was referring to though, either MP or SP campaign mode, but either way, avoid Hardline like the Black Death. The campaign is one of the worst gaming experiences I've ever witnessed, with so many contradictions throughout, and beyond dull gameplay experience. The MP mode is a blast at first, but slowly becomes boring, even more so when you realise how much was left out due to the typical 'EA-DLC' BS...but even then, it seems even they've realised Hardline is dead since they're still concentrating mainly on BF4. BF3 was great too in MP mode, but I purchased it late, and by the time I started getting into it, BF4 had been released and I got hooked on that. DustyRider
BF3 is still the most played, but only the original maps. DLC stuff feels pretty empty. Well here's how things should work (played 2 months ago) Main - all modes, all maps Karkand - Gulf of Oman, conquest is very popular (idk why) Close Quarters - Ziba Tower, domination Armored Kill - Armored Shield, conquest Aftermath - scavenger on all maps End Game - if lucky you can get capture the flag on weekends So BF3 is the best choice, looks the best of the bunch. Shame that on DLC maps no one plays rush, it was the best on Aftermath.
Jitterdoomer
I like both BF3 and BF4, and Hardline should've been an episodic DLC for BF4 like The Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA IV instead of a standalone cashgrab for $60 USD. Jitterdoomer
^ What about Siege of Shanghai in BF4? This maps shows the innovations of the new Frostbite engine like the falling skyscrapers and a bigger map for tanks to drive around the city and it was popular among BF4 players because it was mostly played during the beta. bloatedsack
Battlefiend 4 on the PS3 is garbage. It's buggy, laggy, and can be plumbed to the depths and you will find no end of bullsh*t. BF3 wasn't' great, but it was pretty good. It was also designed for PS3. I suspect more people are playing BF3 on PS3/XB360 than BF4 on the same generation. Jitterdoomer
It was laggy on last gen consoles because they cannot handle the engine that were used on PC and current gen consoles and ran at 30 FPS for the same reason.
KilnerLUFC
As a typical, everyday gamer, I can't really say I've noticed any lag whatsoever, apart from the normal lag that occurs from internet speeds...
PoeticWhisper
It still annoys me that at the start of some BF4 games the map is in low detail for like a minute or 2 until it fully loads in. Like, just keep the loading screen up if the map isn't loaded, no other battlefield I've played ever had this issue. That being said, BF4 on current gen/PC is still loads better than last gen. 64 players>

Not played the previous titles for a while now, but pretty sure this didn't happen on the earlier games. And yeah, watching YT videos made me realise how empty the game feels on last gen. Luckilly some of the maps don't feel too bad with 24 players, such as Operation Locker, but the bigger, more open maps were definitely made for the bigger player count. Again though, without comparing to current gen, BF4 ain't too bad for the last gen consoles. Bad Company 2 will always remain my favourite title though.
