I still don't see the point of 'let's not shave, that's what the man wants'..

I don't care what you do with your own body, but please don't convince yourself that are unique and wise for not shaving. It's another bandwagon and as all bandwagons, it's just irritating.

I have to put this out there -

  • Not liking mainstream music/movies/art does not make you better than people who do.
  • Liking 'dive bars' does not make you special and elite.
  • If you're a woman who doesn't shave, that doesn't mean you're successfully fighting the patriarchy, and it doesn't mean you're better than a woman who does shave.
  • Going out of your way to make controversial statements, jokes (which you don't even mean) etc does not mean you have a sense of humour that 'basic' people won't get. You're probably just a c*nt.
  • Having piercings/tattoos does not mean you are an 'outcast' and it doesn't make you to 'cool to care'.
  • You don't wear make-up???? Wow, I'm happy for you and everything but other girls who do wear it (for self esteem or just because they see it as an art form) are not beneath you for doing so.

The list goes on, but literally every single f*cking day I see people going out of their way to prove to everyone how 'different' they are, and how the 'norm' is the worst thing to exist.

Just accept that every one of us is basic. No-one on this planet is 'unique'. Seriously, we are all made of the same sh*t, have the same instincts and needs - denying this is not 'deep', it just makes you naive.

In that we are all made up of the same stuff (Carl Sagan defined it as "Starstuff") I agree. But the intricacies as which we exist as, the experiences and memories that help craft each of us as individuals, does make us very unique and special snowflakes. Each of us, different, but the same. And both the differences and the similarities contain the beauty of humanity. The things that are the same should tie us, bond us all together inexorably, help us come together to do, together, what none of us can do alone. Building a sky scraper, going to the moon, inviting the metric system, creating the movies, television that brings others to tears, laughter, anger... hell, even making more people, all require more than one.

Alone we are not fully human, but without the self, with the ability to be alone and functioning, we aren't fully human either. It is the combination of the two, my yin, your yang, that makes us complete.

And... you had me at "Hello."

^^^^what dafuq?

Walking my dog this morning before work and I just had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to look down the wrong street I was passing and see a cat writhing in pain with blood coming out of its mouth before dying. Been bugging me all day.

About ten years ago I saw a cat get squashed by a car before dragging itself out of the road breathing heavily. Luckily the RSPCA picked it up from the street. And last year a cat was lying outside the block of flats I live in with its guts hanging out its arse.

Why is it always cats?

You see those are positive attributes, they really are admirable and something to be incredibly proud of. I find it easy to tell the difference now, if someone brags about how 'underground' they are etc, they really are not.

Most genuinely interesting people don't feel the need to prove a damn point to everyone.

I've noticed I generalize my posts on here and then have to correct myself afterwards. I just want people to accept that just existing and fad following is no excuse to put others down.

Throwing insults around at people for being 'sheep'. That kind of bullsh*t. Yeah, being a sheep in a lot of ways is often negative but not when it's something as simple as liking an author, brand of clothing, musician..

(And that was a very enjoyable response, I always look forward to reading a logical response from good ol' Alien).

My math class hurts my feelings and causes me anxiety. It feels like I'm a menace to that class , which is weird because I barely talk.

The class is full of people in their own little circles , and I'm kind of outcast.

I try to tak to people sometimes but it's kinda hard because I immediately want to shut down and go home.

I tried smiling at this one girl in my class as a salutation in the hallway, and she completely ignored me.

Not to mention that girl I was attracted to. I'm not getting good vibes from her anymore.

Like I feel people would be more friendlier to me , had I been more talkative in the beginning of the year.

Like that feeling - when you talk to someone , and you get he vibe like they're thinking "why is this person talking to me"?

Now next semesters class I go to, I'm gonna have to make an extra effort to be friends with everyone so I don't feel outcasted again.

f*ck that class.

I like my current schedule but I too wish I was more talkative in some of my classes, particularly my first period class. More so because I would like to get to know some people as I'm getting bored more than anything. I still have time. But there are some people who give me bad vibes and make me ask myself, why bother? That's bad, I know. Kind of feels like it's too late. There's only five weeks left and people are starting to show up less and everything's just getting repetitive. Edited by Scaglietti

stuff

it is my understanding that women shaving is relatively recent and the direct result of effective marketing and shaming, so I'm a fan of the movement. That's not to say people have a right to feel or act superior for it, though.

As a lifelong smile-er at strangers, more that 70% of people just stare and ignore. 29% smile back, and 1% gives you a glare or tries to fight you. I still smile, that 29% smile-back rate is worth it. People are so beautiful when they smile.

I mean maybe it's because I used to have Tumblr years ago but it was a thriving fad in like 2009/10 on Tumblr. Plus I don't really get that 'it's shaming' thing because advertisements are specifically designed to make you feel that you need the product.

All the adverts where men are embarrassed about grey hair, it's exactly the same in my opinion. It is nothing more than the cool thing at the moment. People never used to care about being 'shamed' into shaving until these pathetic craze kids decided it was such powerful symbolism.

If you are a girl and post 20 pics of your hairy arms/armpits/legs it's pretty apparent that you're doing it for a reaction and to be one of the 'cool' kids.

Some people do things because that is what makes them comfortable, happy or it is just their way of life (that is what I respect).

Then there are idiots who latch on to such notions and warp them into an 'edgy' badge to show off to people. I have an issue with the bandwagon jumpers, the try-hards and the outright transparent people who do things simply to ruffle feathers (that is what I have a huge issue with).

I have no patience for it.

I've been feeling really depressed lately. A few nights ago, the same day as I saw my therapist, I intentionally tried to do something that many people would consider very stupid and selfish...well, seeing as i'm typing this now you can see where that went. I'm going to intentionally be vague about it but i'm pretty sure a few of you know what I mean by what I said. Anyway. These last 3-4 days have been hell. I just don't feel like doing anything except for sleeping. I still feel like i'll get nowhere in life and that i'll accomplish nothing.

ride it out mate, you'll be right. if you just feel like sleeping, do some sleeping. you might wake up feeling better

these people exist in the world and likely always will. you seem like a nice enough person and i say this with genuine niceness in my heart.. you seem to surround yourself with things that constantly bring you down. it's your prerogative and you can change it if you want.

for me, if it's a choice between seeing someone dumb post something dumb and having a laugh at their dumbness and moving on, or getting pissed off about it for the rest of the day and having it affect all my moods and interactions, i will choose laughter every time.

there is enough real crap going on in the world that i can sit and worry about, i don't waste my time and energy trying to reason with people who ultimately won't change unless they themselves want it.. on the internet or in real life. also, as i'm sure you're aware, some people just take the piss because they enjoy your reactions and if you have a bad time because of it.. who's to blame? you can complain about it all day everyday if you like, we as intelligent beings are all aware of these things, but it is ultimately up to you how your life revolves

I think if you have an opinion about someone else's body hair you'd best keep it to yourself. Absurd to think people should conform to what you find agreeable on one hand then deride trendsters on the other. Does not compute.

Also - killing yourself. Never a good idea. Wherever you are I guarantee you I've been close, and I'm still trucking. So think about how happy future you is goingg to be that he's not dead, and work back from there.

re: posting pictures:

thing is that you have to provoke a reaction in order for anything to actually change. it's like the picture of that drowned syrian child. yes, it's horrible, but apparently that's what it took for some people to actually care.

but hey it's people's own business if they do or don't. I'm not gonna tell someone not to do it, js I do support the movement.

I aced a few more of my exams, going to finish this semester strong. Just need to get ready to take one or two summer classes to accelerate my time in college but really not looking forward to being in classes five days a week at three hours a pop. Had to drop a psychology class one semester because it was just three hours of the professor reading off slides which I find to be a complete waste of time, yet we were being graded on attendance so I was out of there asap.
