Why is there no GTA V Singleplayer DLC yet?

Because every newbie starts a topic without even bothering to read the first page of the section, or he's doing it because he's feeling extra special today.

So yeah, it's partly your fault.

Because they're content with making money via GTA Online. Rockstar is still a business, and businesses want to make money. The future lies in Online multiplayer, not with story content. Sad, but true.

I don't expect it to be announced at all. Let's be real here: the game came out two-and-a-half years ago. If we were getting story mode DLC we would have heard more by now.

Well anything's possible, but that doesn't mean it's likely. You'll be doing yourself a favor if you give up on it now, otherwise you'll be pining and longing for it until the sun burns out.

Same here. Think of it this way: if you shelve your hopes for proper story mode DLC now and R* decides to go ahead and make it, you'll be pleasantly surprised. And if they don't make it you won't have a reason to be disappointed.

Lamars missions were our storymode DLC.

I see it optimistic in the future, though. There will be no GTA:Online 2 without GTA 6, at least we get a storymode.

2 or 3 mission long storyline before you get prompted to join the "fun in Online section"

I think it'll be announced at E3 this year. I don't think R* is lazy. However, they are a business and they like money. Online has been doing well enough for them to take their time releasing a paid DLC.

PR talk for the next gen editions

That came out in April 2014 Sony announced the next gen editions for R* at E3 2014 in June two months later

GTAV Story Mode Updates. For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.

Here are those updates

The next gen editions had returning player content that's your "SP DLC" The murder mystery, peyote plants, and wildlife photography challenge.

That's not DLC though. They specifically said DLC.

I agree. This is just content added to the more current generation of technology that could handle more, plus it offers incentive for players on last gen consoles to upgrade for the returning player bonuses. But this is NOT DLC at all.

It could be related to multiplayer's success during IVs release which the developers might have attributed to the thought of finally delivering a much bigger and fully fleshed-out multiplayer experience this time, if they believed there's an increasing demand and fans' expectations for the same, and also could be a major the reason for underwhelming EFLC performance during the initial launch as stated by T2, "Which is a smaller market than initially expected".

I think T2 realised ( based on IVs Episodic performance) that there's a complete opposite trend emerging in financially less risky multiplayer market than the SP DLC.

So, if that's true what the publishers believe then I think the blame lies more with the players who were attracted during the initial multiplayer launch in 2008 and gave out a strong message even in 2013 launch of the same with Online's success that T2 was right in their observations for an emerging multiplayer market.

Unless and until the percentage of people who enjoy multiplayer drops significantly, this SP DLC; understandably can become a difficult prospect.
