Got it Right:

Grinding for GTA cash. Rockstar got it spot on. No charge for DLC and the ability to pay for in-game items through dedication to GTA online, in place of other games - Rockstar has rewarded us for our loyalty. No season pass or DLC scandal. When a new GTA game is released we'll have to pay for it, but in the meantime we keep the GTA online world alive through the cash grinding model. Other gaming companies don't have the courage to do this - they charge us for the base game, and tell us to take a running jump if we don't pay for their updates.

Kind of Wrong:

Side events like shooting range, golf, darts, tennis... that pay 0$ cash and people rarely play. What a shame. Hoards of opportunity for fun, non-violent interaction that could make us a few grand at the same time. Why don't these games follow the standard payout model?

The 'Kill Yourself/suicide' option. The lamest, most pussiest gaming option around. Have you ever hit an armoured Baller LE with an RPG, turning it onto its roof, only for the driver to 'kill himself' before you can get a second rocket off? It takes some skill and preparation to do it, but you're still DEAD. Obsessive Kill/Death ratio protection tactics should be discouraged.

They really need to sort out the kick player option, When you go in a mission and 4 out of the 6 players are doing nothing.
All they need to do is tap a button now and again and they don't get kicked for idling

I've got a few.

Making an giant, immersive, sprawnling, beautiful urban world : They got it right, like they always do.

Locking every single interior in it, so you cannot do whatever you please and it doesn't feel like you're actually living in it, the basterds got it wrong. (especially the cop station, why did they close it ?? -_-)

Creating the ultamite sandbox game you can enjoy with your friends, an open world where you can genuinely decide how you want to proceed, what you wanna do,

but forcing us to play the same linear missions over and over again to earn cash and, denying any proper mod support and private servers for the PC players, so it ain't so sandbox afterall ... They f*cked up.

Adding a Double-Barrel shottie online : yeah !

Completely f*cking up the gunplay with it, forcing us to empty the whole f*cking clip once we gently caressed the trigger. They got it wrong, or how I'd describe it : BULLsh*T !

Ironically, TLAD's sawed off shotgun had that feature and it's a nearly 7 year old game now, they could've easily ported that shotgun in the vanilla GTA V game but Rockstar is just lacking in the common sense and testing department :/

No, Vs Shotgun is better since it has an interesting gameplay mechanic attached to it, you have to empty a whole clip but one shot of the clip will be an instant kill, so it leads you to some smart aim placement and forces you to react on the fly, the gunplay with that weapon is also highly responsive, honestly in my opinion the two weapons added in the last update are easily the best weapons added to Online so far. That's one hell of a fruity thing to say about a weapon, sawed off shotguns have two levers where one fires the first chamber and the other one fires the second by the way.

TLAD's was faithful, pulling the trigger once means only one gets shot, holding it fires both in rapid fire mode.

V's only fires rapidly for the sake of casualism and streamlining, and it can't even be called V's because Rockstar are being c*nts over adding Online content to GTA V that they are literally blocking it in SP.

"I certainly empathize with those who can't"

I don't they had 4 f*cking double cash events going on ahead of the Update and now have ANOTHER ONE.

So those who complain about the prices... screw you and play the god damn game...

Over the past 3 years. 90% of the stuff they release is new stuff to buy. And 10% is new content to play. Tacking on X2 money does not make the game any more enjoyable when its the same sh*t. Especially when players spend half the time in the clouds or disconnecting from lobbies

It doesn't help that AA is mixed with FA. And the most of the players use AA and make PVP modes sh*t.

Releasing these dull ass adversary modes that are barely fun the 1st time around does't help much.

Lack of new co-op content like contact missions doesn't help either. Co-op should be R* priority IMO.

In the end the average player simply does not have time to treat GTA O like a second job and just grind the same sh*t just to use new content that Take Two over prices the sh*t out of. And thats why R* make so much money of cash cards. And why players cheat... And the ones that grind all day and have legit everything are bored out of their skull.. Lord knows i am.

In the end the average player as described by you is in fact an idiot.

Adversary Modes and PvP are popular and the future of GTA Online if you don't enjoy those you can allready leave, if you don't enjoy the gameplay of a game its time to move on, of course its going to feel like grinding if you hate every piece of te content provided.

In my opinion Adversary modes, Free Mode Events and VIP are the best types of content added to GTAOnline and they also allow you to earn a lot money WHILE having fun.

I don't see how only having rapid fire mode is "casualism" its just and adjustment made to support PvP and bike vs car drivebys.

And yes its streamlined, thats what I like about it.

It is more casual, or as others might say "dumbed down." Just as exiting vehicles in GTA V has been dumbed down since GTA IV. You used to be able to leave the car running if you just tap the exit button, or turn off the engine if you hold it. Now the car always turns off regardless of if it is held or not. Just one example. I cannot say the game is better because of this "streamlined" vehicle exiting.

R* f*cked up.

Their biggest f*ck up was making a giant online community that has a bad sports mode and trailers that encourage a healthy community but then later on encourage the community to kill each other. But not too bad or you'll go red or have to pay insurance. Or deal with instapolice.

Also, good nod to how they f*cked up heists. Not apologizing. Would have been so much better if you were allowed to tackle the Heist your own way in free mode. If that meant walking into the banks and sticking them up for vigilante players to try and interrupt, would have added some depth.

But nah. Just longer contact missions.

Not much argument on this reply.

Rockstar gave players overwhelming destructive weapons and then tells you not to use them against other player's vehicles, which other players use as overwhelming destructive weapons.

And if you do, Rockstar has that special lobby where they lock you for an extended period of time, with some of the most aggressive players online, as punishment.

No other consequence (demotion of rank, losing stuff, money taken away) other than tossed in darkness, trying not to get killed 48 times by a kid named xXz0?ispKILLA!¿0zXx.

Bad Sport, in my opinion, was the biggest thing Rockstar got wrong in this game. For those who haven't been there, you should try it. Just once and just for kicks. Not. :p

Rockstar got right - allowing air strikes.

Rockstar got wrong - making them almost useless, and not more like this:

gJ6BgG.gif

people will be spamming the sh*t out of those airstikes for cheap kills. Baaaaad idea.

Well, you don't get credit for air strike kills though.

R* got the mechanic cool down wrong. I can't tell you how many times I have called for a car, got in and try to get to point A to point B but end up getting blown up. Then I gotta wait 4 minutes till I can call for another car or steal a car and get cops. It's bullsh*t imo.

I think you should have added another category to 'got it right' / 'got it wrong': wasted potential.

Biggest thing Rockstar got right: The creator. Has been (probably) the main sources of new material, innovation, player engagement etc... in the game.

Biggest thing Rockstar got wrong: The connectivity/matchmaking issues. Too much time in the clouds. too many 'player left' situations. Too much frustration.

Biggest wasted potential: that's a toughy.... the casino? the possibility of meaningful 'crew v crew' competitions etc in social club? the possibility of expanding creator to include more game modes and parameters? story mode content? there's alot of underutilised potential in this game.

Actually, now i think about it, probably the ocean and underwater elements of this game. There is sooo much detail and stuff in there, and no use for it, and hardly ever seen or visited. If I had been the lead designer/world builder for the undersea parts of GTA, I'd be pissed.

Rockstar got cops so wrong on so many levels.

The cops where actually better in terms of chasing and spawning back in 2013- early 2014.

At least they used to actually chase you back then.

I can't argue with you on this. Casino was not only a wasted opportunity, but a big disappointment.

I also wish they'd included car dealerships you can steal from, like they had in GTAIV. Stealing a SuperGT and driving it out the second story window was just pure fun!

As for the ocean, I actually thought about including that in the poll. I figured since they at least gave us Yachts, then they were at least making an effort!

Not for nothing, but there's nothing more chill than taking out the Kraken and swinging by the Yacht for a splash and a swim. :)

Unless, you don't have a Kraken. or a Yacht. In which case, you're poor. Sorry. :p

- GTAO (Next-Gen) -

What it could be: The brand-new version of the "loved" multiplayer game that improves everything the old one got wrong

What it turned out to be: Nothing is improved, more exploits and glitches are present, things that no one wanted were added into the game, etc.

- Adversary Mode -

What it should be: Fun missions that were supposed to test players abilities

What it turned out to be: Missions with an serious problem of "quality incosistency"

Arrows to Athens

What they got wrong?

Replacing friendly lobbies with an easily abusable, temporary invincibility mode, Passive mode.
