Dropping weapons ?

PC version.

Will we ever get the possibility to permanently remove weapons that we don`t need ? Or at least store them in the weaponry in our apartment ?

I`m so annoyed of shuffling through weapons while driving !

Once they fix the fact that other players can remove all your weapons then yes. Until then they've done their usual terrible job at getting rid of a problem without actually solving it. Someone removes all your weapons? Change session. The fact this breaks something else isn't even on their radar. They've been doing the same sh*t since day 1.

Can you not drop it whilst aiming? I did that on ps4 not so long ago

On the PC version of Grand Theft Auto Online, it is impossible to permanently remove weapons from your inventory.

On PC you can drop weapons from the weapon wheel, just the same as the 4 consoles, but because players were making other players lose weapons (with mod menus), Rockstar "solved" the problem by making all your weapons reappear when you start a session.

You joined a day ago, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...

The admins and moderators on this site are generally quite against "console vs pc" threads or posts as it just leads to arguments and bitching. Obviously you don't actually have anything to contribute so it would be better to refrain from waking the beasts.

Well at least my "sarcasm" was on topic. I'm sure the moderators here do a great job, so there's no need to start policing as members and even better, failing to contribute to the topic themselves! Oh, the hypocrisy...

No, the hypocrisy is that you've joined a day ago and are already posting things that sh*tty members post; nonconstructive and intent on derailing the topic with angered opinions and snarky remarks. Trust me, this forum has its fill of members doing the whole "X" master race thing, please don't add to the pile. Also, this is a community meaning moderators can only do so much. It's down to the members to "Report" a post if it break forum rules. Posts like yours don't break forum rules so members can feel free to remind other members to stay on topic. Now I'm not saying that your post was or wasn't on topic as it's debatable (but leaning heavily on the latter due to previous experiences this forum has seen) but it doesn't add directly to the topic at hand. I will admit I'm at fault for not adding anything constructive, which I will do right now. Welcome to the forum, by the way. Sincere apologies for the harsh introduction, not everyone is a c*nt like me. :)

I'm not on PC but I can say with absolute trust that PC will get the option one day. Hell, consoles are somewhat in limbo as well when it comes to dropping weapons. I've got the Sweeper from the first Valentines Day DLC and I can't get rid of it. The only option people told me about was put in a support ticket but it's not annoying me to the point of bothering R* about it. It's the only reason I don't buy any of the DLC weapons unless I see friends use them/gameplay. I doubt R* does it for PC due to modders filling your weapon wheel again but you could put in a support ticket...but I wouldn't even bet $1 on it. It's weird but I feel GTA:O is still in beta, you know? Like a refined beta but still having some kinks in it. I can't even begin to imagine how a R* worker wakes up, realizing his day is just gonna be figuring out how to temp-fix a glitch. At what point will they just stop fixing stuff because it keeps getting broken? That's not fixing, that's maintenance and maintenance is sh*tty work.

The game must then retain a list of weapons owned by the player, I don't understand why we cannot sell weapons back to Ammu Nation and that list can be edited. If a cheater removes weapons you change session and get back the list of owned guns but it doesn't make you keep useless ones.

Is there a technical reason you can think of why this would not be a solution?

I think there is no technical reason, other than Rockstar laziness and the fact that they cannot make more money by making this happen.

I didn't actually know you couldn't permanently get rid of weapons on PC. Guess you learn something new every day.

Other than ineptitude I can't see any reason why your suggestion wouldn't work. That being said, if you could sell weapons then you'd effectively be able to give other players money. Since they made it so you can no longer sell a car that's been modified by another player then I have to assume they wouldn't want that.

Or simply walk over a similar weapon that an NPC dropped; presto! Weapon back.

Thanks so much, R*. Really looking forward to the TWO new Adversary Modes you'll be pooping out soon while giving issues that actually matter the royal shaft.

Honestly, have been enjoying BF3 so much more lately (even with what few servers are available almost five years later); its FP gaming blows the living snot out of GTA Online.

The game seems to track weapons I have purchased differently than ones I've picked up. Ones I've purchased will always come back on restarts/ session changes. Other than a few melee weapons (bat, golf club as examples), ones I've picked up from npcs or other players don't. So it should be feasible to restrict sales to weapons you had actually previously purchased. I don't expect it to happen, of course.

All it would take is R* assigning a physical key press to confirm the pick up of a previously owned, but dropped, weapon on the ground; much like they did to keep blue job/race corona's from launching automatically.

i.e. user-initiated weapon purchase + user-initiated drop = permanently removed from weapon wheel

user-initiated weapon pickup (highlight dropped weapon + key press) = added back to weapon wheel

user-initiated repurchase from Ammu-nation = added back to weapon wheel

anything else would be ignored (i.e. script kiddie removals would be restored on exiting game or joining a new session, as it is now)

Now that I think of it, do you actually get to keep any ammo from dropped weapons (i.e. after a gang attack or an LSPD officer)? If not, it's kind of pointless even bothering to leave NPC weapons behind after their owners die.

Cash and snacks obviously don't have the same issues attached to them.

Honestly if the sale was just a $0 transaction, I'd go for it. The money isn't what players are more interested in with this it is getting rid of useless pistols.

There are similar trades in the game for example, if you buy an upgrade for your car then you want to change it back (I bought a horn for my roosevelt, but I want the aaooooggaa back), you can do it but you get no money. In fact with car stuff you even have to pay to do it.

It's become second nature for me to set my weapons in each category every time I start a new session. It's the first thing I do when I leave my apartment. I don't really flick between weapons, except for in the Special, Explosive, and Sniper categories so it's not a huge bother to me in the first place because they're not exactly populous.

I can see how it's a pain for some, though.

Although it’s not possible to drop or remove purchased weapons from your inventory in GTA Online, you can set the default weapon in each category. To do this: enter Story Mode, bring up the weapon wheel, and select the weapon you would like to have set as your default in each of the 8 categories. Once you have your defaults set, bring up the in-game phone, select ‘Quick Save’, and create a new save game. From now on, the default weapons you have set for your Story Mode character will be reflected in GTA Online.

A lot of DLC weapons are not available in Single Player so can't be set as default for online. They still need to properly address this. Inventory management in general needs an overhaul.

As far as i know only two weapons are blocked in single player double barrel shotgun and compact rifle. But to be honest nobody use those weapons in multiplayer.

The Heavy Revolver and Switchblade are also not available in Single Player. Neither are the Flare Gun or flashlight. Their workaround is half-assed at best.

How do you know "nobody" uses those weapons? Do you have the global weapon usage statistics?

YOU CAN SET WEAPON DEFAULTS FOR GTA ONLINE

-GO TO STORY MODE

-SET WEAPONS ON WEAPON WHEEL TO WHICH EVER YOU'D LIKE TO BE DEFAULT ONLINE

-QUICK SAVE -> NEW SAVE

-DO THIS WITH ALL THREE CHARACTERS

Whenever I go into GTAO I have AP Pistol, Bullpup Rifle, and Heavy Sniper set to defaults. Everything else I leave at the in game default because I generally don't use em.

It actually works the other way around aswell. Havent played any Singleplayer since I moved to Xbox One thus havent any weapon at all playing as Franklin only. But you can actually set them up in Online instead and go back to Story and make that quick save. Sometimes it can take more then one try but then they will stick.
