I know this sounds weird, but how about you split the section, one "Pro" section where people discuss the game in a constructive way without bitching/moaning(not even a seperate thread).

And one "Other" section which follows the same ruleset as this one.

I think it would eliminate 80% of conflicts.

I'm pretty sure that's the intent with the gameplay subsection, a place just to discuss the core gameplay itself - just doesn't really seem to have taken off in terms of activity.

Well there are many things not gameplay related like for example Future DLCs etc. which would be a lot easier to discuss without people constantly "complaining" in between.

But I see your point there may not be enough actuvity for it, could be related to the fact that its just a sub section though and barely anyone notices them.( maybe I just didn't notice them)

Some people have complained in the past that any topics in Gameplay just die because there is less activity, and moan when they get moved there from the main section because less people view them, so based on that, would you guys use a Vehicles section if it existed? It would obviously be for any kind of vehicle discussions, appreciation topics, snapmatic topics...Would you click into the forum to use it, or do you mainly only skim the main section when browsing? We like the thought of a dedicated section for something that is obviously a huge part of this game, but we don't want to reduce traffic and put people off participating.

To be fair, there is an ignore function.

If things are really that bad, well that's what it's there for. It's not like every post is going to be really positive. there are ups and downs.

If every post was just constructive I'd be fine.

Constructive meaning something negative AND positive in an non-artificial way.

I can't ignore 80% of the forum.

It seems like a lot of things just die away if they're not in the main section/in the spotlight. I'm not really sure why to be honest.

I personally just skim the main part of the forum mostly, only venturing out to the guides and strategies part every now and then.

Still, I think I'd use a vehicles section if it existed. Getting it fired up would probably be the hard part - if people see a few members posting in there, they'd be more likely to check back for more I think.

I think the problem with the Gameplay section is that it seems to be no different than the main forum, I know what it is supposed to be for, but I just don't think it panned out too well. It isn't specific enough.

Now, a vehicles section, I imagine would be highly used. The difference is that people would know where to go for car stuff, the Vehicles section. Gameplay is a very broad term, doesnt specify really what it means. Imo anyways.

So yes, I do think it would be used widely. Now, we are still gonna get a bunch of car talk in the Next DLC thread, but that is unavoidable.

At least I know I would like it haha.

I think it's because when we created this section we followed the format of the rest of the GTA forums, and we've always used Gameplay in those. It's kind of like an overflow of the main section where people can discuss actual elements of the game e.g. specific missions or features or activities or cheats, whereas the main section is for general discussion. It doesn't seem to quite work out that way with GTA Online though, as you say there's nothing specific to it, and that might be because it's not actually a single player game and "gameplay" as a title applies to everything when it comes to multiplayer.

We've discussed that it might be better if we use Rockstar's own terminology to give it more direction and use, so it might be that Gameplay becomes something more dedicated to "Jobs" or "Activities" for example.

As for vehicles, it wouldn't be that nothing about cars can ever be discussed in the main section again, we're just weighing up the options of having a dedicated area and whether it would be used enough to warrant it. It's a hugely popular aspect as you say, losing activity would be a deal breaker though.

Speaking on behalf of myself, I would use the Vehicle section daily. I personally think a Vehicle section would work and would be active because topics like

- the Appreciation threads,

- the Rate the car above you thread,

- the Kustom colours thread,

- the show your Screenshots and Snapmatics (car) thread

- the Vehicle Wishlist thread

all are used daily. People can also create more car related threads in that section to help it grow. Furthermore I realized most of these popular car related threads don't tend to have much discussion in them. They mainly consist of just pictures. If a Vehicle section was to be created I think it will be busy with posts, but most certainly it will be busy with people who just take a quick look and return to the online section. the Online section will probably stay very active as it is a section that doesn't have much limits. Everyone loves a discussion about anything and although vehicles are a big aspect of the game not everyone is into cars.

Overall conclusion: I think you should do it. But at the end of the day, you are the ones that run the Forum. I think it would be good to plan it first, by seeing what kind of topics you like to put in there and examine if the topics are as active as you want them to be, before deciding to make it.

Another note: You should make one thread (maybe in the Vehicle section) about the car meets. A trillion threads are made about it in the Find lobbies section everyday with barely any replies. I think this is because no one barely goes in that section or the people that visit that section are usually a couple of hours late after someone annouced the meet. I think Kirsty made a thread about it but it is hidden pretty good. The last post was on the 12th of January (PS4).

I would use a vehicle section for the same reasons eyman posted.

There is a lot less traffic under gameplay for the already stated reasons, I only venture in there due to the snapmatic/screenshot related topics which are all pinned anyways, so I don't find myself scrolling below that point.

To stop locking topics just because they complain. Sure we have a BNM thread but some topics are just great ideas. God forbid someone doesn't like what a gaming company posts... It always gets locked or directed to the BNM thread.

We have megathreads because too many people make threads on a similar thing, in this case the B&M thread caters to those who make threads just to make a quick complaint about the game. Allowing those to be separate threads would flood the board on every little thing people don't like, and only allowing some doesn't make any sense. Threads that are geared towards discussion instead of just complaining are fine, but it really isn't viable to let people make a thread for everything they're not liking.

Nothing wrong with complaining about the game but all those threads turn into are people agreeing/disagreeing with the OP but no actual discussion.

Similar goes to wishlists, sure some that are left in the megathread could be great ideas but they don't work as separate threads unless the OP puts effort into making the thread have discussion potential or fleshing the idea out and posting it as a concept in the GTA Series forum.

a racing sub forum would be good...I think the community interest justifys it.

Yep, we're going to trial a dedicated Vehicles subforum and may be making some changes between Gameplay/Guides. Let's see how things go. Feel free to give feedback.

Looks good! Although I see that the "Paleto Bay Appreciation thread" got moved to that subforum and it isn't related to vehicles at all.

There's so much different tastes racing wise though man...how about a forum with threads for different racing mindsets?

Thanks for that, moved it back. It was probably left ticked by mistake after a mass move of "appreciation" topics. If you notice any vehicle related topics that need moving into the forum, (or any general ones that need moving out) let us know.

We don't need subforums for every little thing, the vehicles section will easily contain that stuff, considering people weren't creating masses of topics about it.

I'm lost, where's the glitch/mod forum section? I'd rather make a single post about what I'm looking for rather than make a new thread. Apologies in advance, oh so powerful mods, admins, and staff.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

Perhaps if not then a thread similar to the cmm thread or heists thread with people who want to race leaving their gt and platform...problem is I don't want to do stupid races but I do want to do any car class though...you see how it might be difficult to find good races by this method.

How about making a sub-section for these Elimination Games, they take a bit space away and the people who play them would probably have no problem visiting the sub-section for those, especially since they got their very specific niche-audience.
