Prison Break (2016 Revival)

Watched the new episode. The plot has changed to a more serious tone compared to the old seasons which were dumb and fun at the same time.

Linc's on the wrong side of law again. Sara has moved on and has married someone else, raising her son. Michael is alive in a Yemen prison, everything is turned upside down when Sara learns of it and old acquaintances are thrown together once more. It’s great to see the old faces. While learnt nothing about about what Michael has got himself into or how he managed to survive, ust that he is, of course, trying to break out of a jail as usual. The episode does rely on season 1 & 2 nostalgia. The likeable characters are the only people who save the ludicrous plot.

I really liked the premiere. Sure, there was a lot of nonsense, mainly with T-Bag being set free and C-Note pulling a 180 on his former life, but I'd argue the show was always nonsensical to a point. I think it would have been best to explore how Michael is still alive in this first episode because that's the not only the biggest question of all, but also the hardest to produce a plausible answer for.

From what I presume, I think his survival will be subsequently revealed in the upcoming episodes or so. They don't want to rush the whole thing. It'll like those flashbacks from Arrow where the story about him being on the island unfolded in course of episodes. Edited by Arrow

I thought they were just retconning his death?

I'm so glad Prison Break is back.. it was one of the best series I've ever seen. There's not that many shows out there that can keep my attention, but Prison Break is definitely one of them.

It's actually good. Color me surprised but it's solid entertainment. If you can ignore all the nonsense of course. But like TheFoxRiverFugitive said - it's always been kind of a nonsensical show. It's about conspiracies and impossible prison breaks. As long as it can deliver on that front it's good.

So keen for this season! First episode was fairly uneventful but I guess it had to be.

I think the second episode was a bit better than the first. I think it's going to be interesting how they explain Michael killed that CIA official and has ties to ISIL, as shown by his warm embrace with the leader guy at the end of the episode. It's an episode that only raised more questions while not answering many others and yet I still found myself enjoying it.

Watching the first episode now and oh boy this new show is really wack.

The old ones were much better. Lots of things that make no sense..

None of the things do make sense at first. All I can say is that the attempt to connection the events of this season with the previous ones seemed futile and mismatched.

This reboot was pretty much a repeat of season 3 in terms of quality. They tried to tell a longer story with fewer episodes. I'd give it a 7/10. One thing that really bugged me was how Michael even got T-Bag out in the first place.

Probably the biggest thing about this that bugged me, was the gang's insistence on not using any of the guns they come in contact with, only to then run into situations that could have been resolved if they had grabbed said guns earlier. More so for the Yemen portion of things, though.

Another plot device that didn't make sense. Just like Kellerman being a part of all this and being killed before he could provide any more insight into what was going on. Portraying Jacob as their most lethal enemy didn't seem that lethal after all. The General was a much better antagonist. TBH, the antagonist could have been someone other than Sara's husband.

I have 2.5 episodes left and have done for ages now. Just can't bring myself to watch it as I thought it was pretty terrible. Are the final episodes actually worth the time watching them?

At least we'll always have season 1 to re watch. Got to be up there with the best season of any show ever.

The final episodes are somewhat better than the rest of the season, with none of the Yemen crap for now. There's a good twist. And nothing will ever beat Season 1.

^In some ways I think season 2 is better than season 1. I loved the race to Utah to get the money and them all being on the run. There was also the really sad moment when Mahone cornered Haywire on top of that mill and convinced him to kill himself. Not to mention, season 2 had what would have been one of the best endings to any TV show had they decided to stop there. Michael had the money, he had Sara, Linc and they had all just been exonerated in the US thanks to Kellerman's testimony. It was when Kim showed up at the docks that things went down the toilet.

While channel surfing I accidentally managed to watch the first episode. I have to say that it was more than I expected. Still, it's too early to say if the whole series is good or not. The original series was pretty solid.
