'Über' / Chauffeur Concept

If you don't use the taxis in game, you probably won't be interested in this.

 

I know there will be the inevitable people who will say "It's Grand Theft Auto you're supposed to steal and drive cars". Well, sometimes I just like to be driven around and take in the scenery and stuff. Don't judge.

 

Also been thinking about this while playing story mode, I guess it could work in online too.

 

 

 

So I've finished the game, I'm a multi-millionaire, I want to sit back and let someone drive me around like a boss. The only way to do that is in a blue and yellow taxi.

 

I mean the script for the taxi service is in the game. Taxi driver will drive you around without crashing (most of the time). So why can't the same script be applied to a luxury vehicle and make a new chauffeur service alongside the taxi service.

 

Was surprised there isn't some sort of Über parody in GTA. It's huge in LA, riots and protests between taxi drivers and Über drivers, the whole millennial "sharing-economy" thing, all the Über horror stories. It's ripe for parody.i.

 

So I've come up with a rough parody concept of ÜBER, called SCHLEP. (noun| a tedious or difficult journey.)

 

There are 3 parts of the company, a basic taxi service, chauffeur service and charter plane/helicopter service.

 

SCHLEP (Über Parody)

 

 

Open the app on your phone, select SCHLEP and select the vehicle you wish. Car will pull up moments later. Once inside select destination from phone (similar to the taxi meter)

 

SCHLEP^S will be much cheaper than a regular cab, but similar to Über, cars will be owned by regular drivers. Won't always get a nice car. Some driver may show up in a beat up Emperor, passenger gets out and runs away screaming as you get in, may drive like a maniac etc. (but they will be fairly rare)

 

SCHLEP and the Downtown Cab Co. are rivals. Some new talk radio segments or commercials bashing each other would be cool.

 

SCHLEP^S - Dilettante (or similar)

SCHLEP^M - Oracle (or similar)

SCHLEP^L - Minivan (or similar)

SCHLEP^XL - Granger (or similar)

 

 

SCHLEP^LUX (Chauffeur/Bodyguard Service)

 

 

You would have to sign up for SCHLEP^LUX through the website, paying some sort of upfront fee.

 

Once you're registered, open the app on your phone, select SCHLEP^LUX and select luxury vehicle you wish. Car will pull up moments later. Once inside select destination from phone (similar to the taxi meter).

 

Service is substantially more expensive, comes with chauffeur and bodyguard who will ride up front. Fleet will all be black with limo tint.

 

(Armoured variants possibly?)

 

SCHLEP^LUX - Washington

SCHLEP^LUXX - Cognoscenti

SCHLEP^LUXXX - Baller LE LWB

SCHLEP^STRETCH - Schafter Stretch E (No Turret)

 

SCHLEP^JET (Private Charter Plane/Helicopter Service)

 

 

Open the app on your phone, select SCHLEP^JET then the aircraft you require. Confirmation will tell you your jet/helicopter is on the tarmac.

 

Helicopters will spawn on helipads/fields/rooftops nearby (walk into markers at ground level). Jets will be waiting at airport/strip with pilot and co-pilot and will being taxiing once inside.

 

Once inside the aircraft, select from the other available landing areas around San Andreas from your phone, fly to maximum height for parachute jumps or just tell the pilot to cruise around the map.

 

While flying you can arrange for a SCHLEP^LUX vehicle to meet you when you land and take you to your final destination.

 

SCHLEP^CHOPPER - Swift

SCHLEP^JETXS - Vestra

SCHLEP^JET - Luxor

SCHLEP^JETXL - MilJet (Non-Military Livery)

 

 

There would be some sort of icon on the phone screen. You could set what service you most frequently use so when you click it it will automatically request that vehicle. This would be quicker than the current method (going into the phone book, finding Downtown Cab Co, call, waiting for it to connect, listening to the conversation).

 

All of this could be rotated. Similar to taxi jobs, you could pick up SCHLEP jobs, just using your own vehicles. Passenger expecting to be picked up in a Dilettante, but then a T-20 pulls up. Drive full speed and freak them out. Button on the website to sign up to be a Driver/Pilot.

 

If Rockstar released some sort of celebrity/vinewood themed story DLC, I could see this fitting in somewhere.

 

All rough ideas I came up with this evening but is something I would like to see (either from Rockstar or mods).

But if THE MAP will support THAT SERVICE, yes.

 

IF the map is big enough, let LOWER-LEVEL PLAYERS GIVE HIGHER LEVEL PLAYERS a ride. there are many reasons this can work, but ONLY if gas matters.

I can definitely see this concept working in Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto Online, not so much.

 

The reason I believe this will go well with story mode is because if you buy the property, Downtown Cab Co. as Franklin, you get access to a few side missions offer by this property. Therefore, if SCHLEP were to come to fruition, then that would add the possibility of having new side missions offer by Franklin, by Downtown Cab Co. One of the missions that would be given to Franklin would be to sabotage some of the vehicles (i.e. damaging, destroying, etc.) from SCHLEP. For now, this is all that comes to mind.

i disagree. this works in online BEFORE single player for that reason. If online needs to buy gas, it works. Single player doesn't matter because to matter what you say, I can load and start over fir free forever

 

IF it works n MP, to ha gameplay consequences!

 

then on single player, i can see you can reload forever no problem you can CHEAT and no complaints, but in MP, you need to accept defeat!!

ya but i typed drunk. look, if MP makes me reup on gas, then UBER online, that will be cool but too much work to make it matter for the driver - not worth it if realistic 400 miles to a tank!

I like this idea. The website looks very neat.
