2001-2012 a great time when there were a lot of good games. 2013-2018 sh*t time :r*:

Just voted now and wow is it close - 90 votes for 2000 - 2007 vs. 89 votes for the current era. Voted for the former because of the stacked list of classic games that will be remembered decades from now, and the fact they came from a time when Rockstar put out more than 1 game every 5 years.

Hmmm nice bike

I'm gonna go ahead and loop two together and say 2001-2012. Especially because both 2001-2007 and 2008-2012 are evenly tied right now. Rockstar just had so many classics released during this period. GTA III, Vice City, Manhunt, SA, VCS, Bully, GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, all amazing titles. They had a few crappier ones inbetween (Manhunt 2 probably being their worst), but with a majority of these titles, it felt like they really cared about the work they were putting into these games. And they were actually able to continuously release games and come up with new ideas. Nowadays, it just feels like they've been dragging GTA Online out for as long as they possibly can.

2001-2007 were Rockstar's golden years, with 2002 being their best year.

My favorite is definetly the 2001-2007. As the guy said above it's a gold era. Rockstar will never make good games like this again.

I liked Max Payne 3, GTA IV & V, but, nothing beats the 3D Era.

I voted for 2008-2012, but I honestly think 2001-2007 were strong years for R* as well! If it were a choice, I’d go with 2001-2012! GTA 4, EFLC, VC, SA, and 3, as well as all three Max Payne games, Bully, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Manhunt, Red Dead Redemption, and LA Noire are all overall incredibly great with their storylines and characters in my book. As far as 2013 onward goes, kinda meh. I still like GTA 5 but think it needs improvement. 1997-2000 would be my least favorite era because I only play Xbox consoles. 😛

To be honest, picking between 2001-2007 and 2008-2012 is tough, almost like picking your favourite child. I'd say 2001-2007 had the advantage with the number of games released, like the entire GTA 3D Universe and other titles like Manhunt, The Warriors and Bully. 2008-2012 however easily peaked with GTA IV/EFLC and RDR alone.

Recent years have been pretty crap to be honest. I understand that games take longer to develop, but with all the studios that Rockstar has, I wonder why they're not able to do more with all the franchises they own. I miss the days when they had a big title practically every year rather than just milking a single game for all it's worth. Like yeah, Redemption 2 is shaping up to be f*cking amazing, but it's hard not to miss the days when Rockstar released games on a more consistent basis.

I really would like to see RAGE-engine sequels to Manhunt and Bully more than anything, maybe even The Warriors as well. I recall they even had a spiritual successor for the latter planned called We Are the Mods, but it never came into fruition. Shame, a Warriors-style beat-em-up set in 60s Britain during the Mods and Rockers fueds could have been something special.

Oh yeah, and what the f*ck happened to Agent? Why would they bother announcing a title that is far from completion and add insult to injury by saying nothing about it for an entire decade?

2000-2007 was the golden years. It started for me with vice city and san andreas then there was max Payne vcs and lcs then the warriors and finally bully. I enjoyed the he era games also although I've never played max Payne 3, la noir or midnight club. I never realized that I've played so many rockstar games in my life.

Hard choice between 2001-2007 and 2008-2012, but i'd go with 2001-2007 because of GTA Vice City, San Andreas and Bully. They're all great games. Well, also in the 2008-2012 section, for me goes GTA IV and Read Dead Redemption.

San Andreas the golden year of 2004, 2001-2007 is the best, Vice City, GTA III.

The 3D era is the best for me. I still have a dedicated spot in my heart for Vice City. Sure, the games were somewhat simplistic compared to more modern ones and not as realistic, but who cares. Actually, I can't say I dislike any single era. I love (although with a bit of a Stockholm Syndrome) GTA1, GTA V is nothing short of excellent, and GTA IV, despite being somewhat of a 'black sheep' (or, perhaps, 'gray-and-brown sheep') of the series due to it being a gritty, biting world without the usual GTA goofiness, is still really good.
