I love how nobody's voted for present day.

That'll change in a few years or so...we're usually critical until things become nostalgic.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of the 2001 - 2007 era. I still go back to those games. They're classics!

2008-2012. Back when the multiplayer wasn't developed at the cost of affecting the SP in such a destructive way.

I would like to say that I love everything from 1997 to 2012, since it all started with GTA 1 and through all these years R* made a lot of memorable and brilliant games.

My favourite is definitely period 2008 -2012, when R* created the best games they could and every one of them will give my fun for years to come. Games like MCLA, RDR or GTA IV, which despite their age still will be entertaining and interesting.

every game from rockstar during 2008-2012 was either a 9/10 or a 10/10. except for max payne 3, that game was the begining of the decline from rockstar, it should be put in with gta v and gta online since its closer to those two in terms of physics.

i honestly dont count LA noir as a rockstar game. but from gta 4 to red dead redemption rockstar was the best video game company during that period. nothing but quality content that was worth 60 dollars. its a shame how low the have stooped.

wat lmfao

Max Payne 3's physics ain't anything like GTA V and they're way better than GTA 4/RDR.

You can't beat GTA III, VC, SA, Max Payne, Max Payne 2, Manhunt, and Manhunt 2...

(and Bully I guess)

max payne 3 has almost the same shooting mechanics as gta v. compare them side by side. even though you cant dual wield in gta v, its much closer to max payne 3 than gta 4 or red dead redemption. guns even have the same tracer rounds in gta v that max payne 3 has.

and im not sure if you mean the physics of max payne being better than gta 4 and red dead redemption or the physics of gta v being better than red dead redemption, just in case its the latter...

I mean in terms of how people react to getting shot. It's perfect in Max Payne 3.

But yes in terms of vehicle physics IV was better than V.

i thought the game was amazing before he became bald and fat. then the story changed and the setting was no longer interesting in my opinion. the new jersey mission was fantastic.

Algonquin Assassin

I was playing through MP3 a couple of weeks ago and it amazes how much criticism this game got from fans on release. One of the most underrated third person shooters of the last generation IMO.

i know. its a fun game that feels very intense. i feel like max payne 3 was going for that found footage style in the cutscenes but the gameplay was just a little bit too repetitive during certain parts.

max payne 3 just needed a better setting. shanghai is much cooler than favelas. thats just my opinion though, i would say max payne 3 is a solid 7 out of 10.

2001-7 Rockstar had balls back then. Hot Coffee neutered them and they were forever destined to release watered down crowd pleasers instead of true art.

What?

Are you really claiming that hot coffe was anything near true art?

The hot coffee is cringe worthy sh*t, only something horny teens would enjoy, and it was thankfully unused, only found inside the code and it added absolutely nothing to the main game.

Your example should be about Manhunt and Bully (game post hot-coffee controversy), now, those are excellent games that made a mark partially because of a controversy that R* used in a smart and ballsy way.

Also, they released IV (texbook crowd pleaser duh), Max Payne and RDR after they were "neutered", so you are just overeacting in your hate against R*.

Like always.

No. You completely misunderstood my entire post. Don't bother responding to me if you lack the reading comprehension to understand what I'm saying and get angry.

@Scagletti I'd put that time in second place 2008-2012 was decent.

Nah, i completly understand what you said, R* didn't got neutered by the hot cofee controversy, otherwise they wouldn't had played with Bully's controversy, R* didn't turned into a crowd pleaser, otherwise they wouldn't had taken gta in another direction (one they ultimately dropped because of a very vocal portion of the fanbase) you can even make a case of SA being more a crowd pleaser while IV is more artsy and pretentious.

Don't do like Osho and blame everyone's "reading" comprehension, you are the one who presents the weak points.

Kane & Lynch 2: is Dog sh*t. Easily one of the worst shooters I've played.

The first Kane & Lynch though, Dead Men? isn't bad at all.

I loved them between Midnight Club 1 and San Andreas. They were still somewhat underground who tried to push their boundaries on what they could do and each of them brought something significantly new to the table. All the other Stories games after that just seemed like they were piggybacking off the success of the other ones and killed that era off.
